Recap: Arnav comes home and finds out that Khushi has not eaten. Khushi is overwhelmed with relief that Arnav is finally home so she hugs him but now that she knows he is there in front of her she is mad as well. Anjali is also mad at Arnav for not coming home on time.
Arnav walked to the kitchen silently noticing how the whole house was set in an eerie silence. Everyone was probably sleeping he reasoned but he knew that everyone wasn't sleeping, she wasn't sleeping. He still couldn't really understand why she had not eaten anything. How is any of this my fault? She ignored me all of last week and now I am supposed to care about her well being? She sure didn't seem to be caring for mine while she pretended that I didn't exist! It's not like this is the first time I have done this! I mean I know usually I call her to tell her I won't be coming home soon but she should have just assumed that when it started getting late! And why did she not eat? I mean it's not like I told her to not eat! Why do you have to be like this?
He walked into the kitchen to see the counter all full of Jalebies. Groaning inwardly, he walked to the stove and removed the hot pan that was still sitting on their and cleaned up the counter a bit. Great. Now in the morning she will try to get out of bed as quick as possible to clean this mess up. Unbelievable. Walking past the kitchen counter, he went to the fridge and brought out all of the food which everyone else had eaten already. Why didn't they just make her eat?! Why didn't Di just make her eat? If they had told her to eat I'm sure she would have! Grabbing a plate, he piled up all of the food and slowly made his way to their room, drowning in his own guilt every step of the way.
Arnav walks in to see her sitting on the couch, staring at the sky from the French windows. Talking to her parents again… Why is she so worked up? He made his way to the couch, noticing how she stiffened when she felt his presence in the room. Quietly he sat down besides her, facing the room instead of the skies. For a few minutes he just sits there, holding the food, feeling comfort in the silence, looking at her profile as she kept avoiding his eyes.
"Khushi," he whispered softly, trying not to break the peaceful silence that had enveloped around them as he stared at the walls.
He waited, waited for her to respond. To show any sign of reorganization that he had just talked to her, anything. When she refused to look at him after 5 minutes he sighed and looked away from the room, and towards her.
"Khushi…, Khushi listen to me. You have to eat. Look I brought food. Eat it," Arnav commanded knowing that the only way to make her eat would be to rile her up again.
His heart sank when he heard her defeated answer, "No. I am not hungry. You have fed me enough for one day."
"Khushi…," he whispered once again, not sure what to say anymore.
Balancing the plate on his laps, he brought his hands to her shoulder, and forced her to look at him. He saw her eyes were still red, as if she had not stopped crying yet, her face drained. She looked sick, sick and tired…, of me? Seeing her so weak raised an unknown feeling in him, making his eyes fill up with determination.
Letting go of her shoulders, he brought his hand to the food in the plate and tore off a piece of the roti. Dipping it in the dal, he raised his hand to her mouth, willing her silently to eat it. His eyes had gone back to staring at the wall, as he waited for the burden in his hands to lighten. Comfort raced through his body when he felt her lips brush against his hand. Slightly turning his head, he saw her chewing and he smiled a bit with relief.
Slowly he kept feeding her, both of them not saying another word. She stared at the sky and he stared at the wall. She wanted freedom and all he could provide was burden. The food was almost gone when he felt something on his shoulder. Turning slightly he saw that she had rested her head on his shoulder, still looking out the French doors. He bent his head down in her hair and whispered, "Let's go to sleep," but she didn't respond. Bringing up his hand one last time, he made her finish her food and then set the plate aside. Picking her up gently he walked to the bed and laid her down on her side of the bed.
Khushi lay in the bed, watching silently as he walked to the bathroom and came back almost immediately. She felt as if all of her energy had been drained out, all of her life being used up. She hated him. Hated him for making her so weak, hated him for being the only one who can be her strength. She didn't want his support, she didn't want him. If only her mind had it's way. She needed his support, she needed him. She closed her eyes peacefully when she felt his weight join hers on the bed.
Arnav watched her as she turned around to face away from him and slept the moment he came. He brought the blanket up so it was covering both of them and stared at the ceiling, his mind going through many thoughts, some memories.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Khushi. You are going to sleep on the bed… with me. So quit the drama and go to sleep," Arnav commanded as he turned off the lights hoping his bride would just listen to him once and do what he said without further questioning.
"What?! I am not going to sleep on the bed with you are you crazy!?" Khushi asked in rage, "I might have married you Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada but that does not mean you can you know…, use me!"
"What did you just say?" Arnav asked in fury as he turned the light back on.
"You heard me! You can't force yourself on me do you hear that? No. I am sleeping on the couch, this is not okay at all," Khushi said decisively and started to get up off of the bed by picking up her heavy wedding lengha, when she felt his arm pull her down again and before she knew it he had her trapped underneath him on the bed.
"What were you saying? That you can't sleep on the same bed as me?" Arnav asked gently as he kept both of her hands locked behind her back with on hand and brought the other hand to her face.
"That I can't use you?" he said as he stroked her cheek lightly watching her squirm underneath him.
"That I can't force myself on you?" he repeated softly as he brought his head down to her neck, biting it forcefully and then licking it soothingly.
He brought his head up to look at her face. She had turned the other way, allowing him more access to her neck Her eyes were closed as he body shook from breathing so hard. Arnav watched her stay in that position, waiting, anticipating what would come next. Smirking, in spite of himself, he brought his head to her ear and breathed lightly into it.
"Well I just did both… So if I was you, I would just sleep calmly on the bed and not create a ruckus since if I wanted to…" Arnav whispered, pulling on her earlobe gently, "… I could use or force myself on you, even if you slept on the couch, so your purpose would be defeated," pulling up to stare at her angelic face once again, which was in the same position but now it looked like she was hyperventilating instead.
Khushi slowly opened her eyes when she felt the extra weight off of her. She looked to see that her now husband was not on her anymore. Frantically she jumped up on the bed to find him when she saw him laying next to her nonchalantly, watching her every move.
"Are we clear?" he asked silently.
She nodded her head in agreement, not trusting her voice to say anything understandable at the moment.
"Good. Now go to sleep, I have a meeting tomorrow," he commanded and turned away from her, turning the lights off as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~End of Flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He looked down in surprise when he felt her snuggling into him. Opening his arm out, he let her come closer until they was barely any space left between them. Her head rested on his chest, murmuring something softly. Listening to her harder, he heard, "Never leave me again. Don't every do that again."
Arnav felt anger course through him as he listened to her words. I should have just called. What was wrong with me? I should have known she would have been worried! Isn't she always? Why did I do that?! Patting her hair he whispered into her ear softly, " I promise, promise to never leave you," smiling when he heard her sigh and dig deeper into his chest. Closing his eyes, he laid his head on top of her hair and feel asleep as well.
Payalji. Please meet me tomorrow. I want to talk to you
-Akash
Okay I sent the text, now I just have to wait for tomorrow… I will tell her everything tomorrow, how I feel, what I want, everything. Sighing in exhaustion, Akash made his way to his bed and fell asleep.
