Part 8

Khushi then looked down at her hands, on one hand she had her engagement ring and on the other hand she had her diamond bracelet. This reminded her of when Lavanya said that her fiance had claimed both her hands, Arnav had not only claimed both her hands but he had also claimed her heart. She then remembered Shyam and she wanted to set up her plan.

'Arnav can we start the Shyam plot?'

'Yes we can, Khushi'

'Well let's do it tomorrow because the sooner he is found out the better'

'I agree'

'Tomorrow you can ask Shyam to come and get me for something important and I will threaten him, then you tell Anjaliji to come and check on us and she should see Shyam hurting me. I am worried with only one thing Arnav. What about Di's feelings and trust?'

'Khushi I care for my Di and I would rather she face reality than live a lie with that monster. He is a betrayer and my Di at least deserves the truth.'

'Arnav you are a good bhai,' he felt touched by this.

'You are also a good di, Khushi,' she was also touched by Arnav's comment.

'I have to go see Di now,' Khushi saw this as a chance to escape before she was trapped by her lover.

She went downstairs to see Anjali preparing for the two weddings that were coming up. Nani called for Khushi.

'Go and try this on Khushi,' asked Nani.

'OK Naniji,' responded Khushi. Khushi took the lehenga choli. She put on the red lehenga choli which was heavily embroidered with silver and gold detailed. Khushi thought it was beautiful. She was almost ready when she realized she couldn't do up the zip at the back. She closed her eyes as she felt a warm hand touch her back, and the hand did up her zip. She opened her eyes looking into the mirror with Arnav standing next to her,

'My beautiful bride,' whispered Arnav softly into Khushi's ear. Arnav gently pulled her dupatta over her head. She blushed the same colour as her lehenga choli, she looked down and ran out to Nani. Arnav stayed in the same spot where Khushi was and remembered how beautiful she looked. Khushi slowed down on the stairs where the whole family was telling her how beautiful she looked. She sat down and let Nani have a good look at the lehenga choli on her. She went upstairs and she was again struggling with the zip and Arnav yet again undid it for her. He kissed her neck and walked out. Khushi stood in shock at what Arnav had just done. She felt shy and she changed back into her normal salwar kameez. She went downstairs with the lehenga choli in her hand. She didn't want to hand it back to Nani but she had to.

'Do you want this lehenga choli, Khushi?'

'Yes Nani, please,' said an eager Khushi. Everyone also agreed as they had seen how beautiful she looked in the lehenga choli.

'Tomorrow, Chote will take you to buy your jewellery,' said Anjali.

'OK Anjaliji,' Khushi replied, she was now nervous for tomorrow. She wanted to go though because she wanted to be with Arnav.
