The longest wait of his life ended soon when the lady stopped in front her room. The silence in the air made him feel uneasy as well as confused. He looked around the house to find everything musty and covered in a layer of dust, as if it hadn't been cleaned since years, causing his suspicion and confusion to increase.
Katherine shot her a curious look when they found the lady inserting a key in the lock. Why is the door locked? He kept asking himself, again and again. His heartbeat increased, as the lady pushed the door. Presence of no living creature could be felt by him. There was no movement, no voice, but just silence that engulfed them, causing him to panic.
Wordlessly, the lady motioned him to go inside. He nodded in response, waiting for to give him some privacy. He sighed, giving up, when she didn't move but kept staring at him with a weird expression masking her face.
"Katherine, stay here." He ordered, letting his gaze move from Katherine to the lady. Katherine instantly took the hint and nodded. She let Armaan enter the darkroom, after which she blocked the door, so that no one could follow him. The lady only glared at her, as if she would roast her alive, and nothing more. No one spoke, after Armaan was lost inside the dark room.
Slowly, he stepped inside the room, trying to look around in the darkness. A small window in one corner of the room was a single source of light in the room. Sunlight from the window extended across the entire room to the opposite wall of the room, illuminating a small part of the room. Riddhima was not visible under the light. He frowned.
He was too choked with emotions and numb under the stress to utter a word. Yet he decided to break the silence of the room.
"Riddhima, Riddhima?" He called out, moving his head from side to side, waiting for a response.
A sudden action alerted him. He focused his attention to the darkest corner of the room, where he could swear that he had seen a fragile body recoil. He decided to have closer look. A sudden, loud cry of a baby caused him to retaliate with a jerk. Now he could see her-Riddhima.
His heart sank in a wave of misery immediately. She recoiled, wrapping her arms around her crying baby. She looked at him with fears in her eyes, which was similar to a thousand daggers through his heart. Her grip tighten around her baby, as he neared her; her eyes warning him to move away. Her expressions, like a child lost in dark, refused to recognize him. It pained.
"Riddhima?" At first, he was too shocked to speak. But when he finally broke his trance, her body began to tremble.
That was the first time he had noticed her closely. Her hair was messy. He could instantly tell that she hadn't cleaned herself up since ages. That made him wonder since how long was she locked in the room. She wore a torn and worn ordinary dress, which revealed her pale skin towards her shoulders and other body parts. Armaan looked away, hot and fierce wave of rage washing him. Soon he realized that he was shaking in rage, as he looked into her red and swollen eyes.
"Riddhima?" He tried to come closer, but she pushed her self against the wall, trembling, hitting her head on the wall. Automatically, Armaan backed out, throwing his hands in defeat.
"Okay, fine." He backed out, standing at a distance away from her.
"Riddhima, it's me.." He kept his hands right above his beating heart, hoping that she would recognize him.
"Armaan." She stopped, staring at him. That encouraged him to take a step forward.
"Yes, your Armaan." He looked into her eyes as he spoke.
Shock and horror came to him, as instantly, she covered her ears and closed her eyes, shouting as loud as she loud. His heart ached in misery. The baby in her arms-her baby, he guessed-was crying loudly, wanting to come to his arms. But she wouldn't let anyone near her baby. She was scared.
The lady immediately pushed Katherine out of the way, and walked inside the room. Riddhima didnot retaliate, Armaan noticed, when the lady came near her, but instead, Riddhima's fear filled eyes were on him, the guy who loved her the most.
Armaan frowned, when the lady told Riddhima something in an alien language. Her horror stricken eyes, momentarily looked up at the lady, as if checking her. The lady nodded in assurance. Riddhima relaxed and handed her baby to the lady. The lady walked out of the room, with the baby in her hands.
"Katherine!" He yelled at the lady, waiting at the door.
"See to it that the baby gets good care. NOW!" He shouted. Katherine rushed out of the room, following the enraged Armaan's orders.
He was shaking in rage. He didn't look up at Riddhima, he couldn't bear it. Silently, he took out his expensive leather jacket and placed on the floor.
"Please, Riddhima. I beg you. Cover yourself. Its cold." He realized that he was crying.
Brushing away the tears with the back of his hands, he rushed out of the room. He needed some air.
On reaching the door, he realized that the crowd was still waiting for him outside, blocked by the guards. He sighed.
At once, he was determined to find the culprit behind Riddhima's condition and rip his head off. He could feel the fire in his body, enough to go and kill someone. But he had to be calm, for her. Going by the circumstances, he was sure Riddhima wouldn't come home with him. It was impossible! But he had to.
He knew he wasn't strong enough to drag her out of there; Not physicall, but mentally and emotionally. He could never put Riddhima through pain, he rather take it on himself. And trying to drag a estranged lady would create such a ruckus. His dead brains slowly began churning, forming new plans to get Riddhima out of this hell. He knew what he had to do.
