A little while before Fiza's incident''.
I hope it's a mark of love Ramona thought as her eyes strayed once again to the red mark on their youngest sister-in-laws hand.
Hoping best for others that was something she found happiness in these days.
Because she had no hope left in hers.
"Badi bhabhi mein tayyar hoke aathi hun" Ramona said to Sur, smiling at her.
"Jaldhi karna'.aur zara Krishna ko phone karke pooch kya who aur Maan aa rahe hain" Sur said to her.
Ramona gave Sur a you-already-know-the-answer look but said.
"Ji bhabhi'..bhabhi aapne Shikha ko bataaya?" Ramona asked.
"Arrey mein tho bhool hi gayi'.abhi karthi hun" Sur said rushing to her sister-in-law's (nanadh's) room.
Ramona headed towards her room. The room she shared with the person she loathed the most. Her husband, by rituals her companion for seven lives.
"Can't bare him in this life'.to heck with seven lives" Ramona scoffed while getting ready. She selected a light green saree to wear with simple accessories to match.
She picked up her phone contemplating for a moment whether to call him or not.
"Waise bhi who tumse kabhi thameez se baath nahin karega'.just give him a call'warna bhabhi se jhoot kehna padega" Ramona said to herself and dialed her husband's number.
Krishna Khuranna was busy with some files in the office.
"What the heck! Files pe files'..business ithna badaoge tho yahi hoga Krishna" he muttered to himself.
Krishna was a brilliant businessman. But a lazy one at that. He had to exert his brain for just five minutes to create wonders. But was unwilling to that often.
Cherry on top his concentration was never in place after that night.
The moment he thought of the night his thoughts went back to her.
Three Nights Ago'.
Ramona slowly made it towards the terrace to collect the dry sheets. She had never disclosed this to anyone but she had a great fear of heights. Afraid that people will mock her, the bold bindass Ramona of being a scaredy cat she had never told this to anyone.
Khuranna Mansion was huge fortress with immense width and height. Ramona avoided going to the terrace alone as much as she could. But she couldn't run away from chores always.
"Forget about height, forget about height" Ramona chanted.
She reached the terrace and glanced around. The sheets were hung close to the railings.
"Great just what I needed" Ramona muttered.
She walked up to the ropes and started pulling down the sheets hurriedly. In her haste she hadn't noticed another person watching her.
"What's the haste'..your business won't break down if you don't attend to your files for five minutes" Krishna said disdainfully.
Ramona jerked and looked at her husband.
"Why should my business bother you so much? Its in good hands" Ramona retorted.
"Yeah right! I wonder why it isn't in ruins by now'tum jo handle kar rahe hon usse" Krishna scoffed.
Ramona saw that he was trying to hide something. She understood immediately what he was doing at the terrace.
"If you smoke so much then soon your lung will be in ruins" Ramona said with a smirk pulling down.
Krishna was surprised she caught him. It soon turned into irritation.
"Spying on me are you?" he said in a dangerous voice.
"I have better things to do than that" Ramona said and turned to head back.
Krishna caught her hand and pulled her back.
"Yeah! Can I know what it is? Are you having an affair or something? Oh wait a minute who will have an affair with a behenji like you huh" he smirked.
He pushed her back a little harder than he had intended. Ramona lost her balance and hit the railing. She would have fallen down if Krishna hadn't caught her on time.
Ramona was clinging to Krishna for dear life. She was shivering from head to toe.
"Shhh calm down you are alright now" he tried to soothe her. For a second he was afraid she would fall. His heart was still thumping hard.
"I am sorry" Krishna whispered into his wife's ear.
Maybe it was the shock of hearing her husband apologize to her or that she was in his embrace, Ramona jerked back from him.
They looked at each other for a moment. Theirs eyes were showing so many emotions. They had never been physically close apart from the stunts they pulled in front of the family.
But right now resting in her husbands embrace she had felt safe and comforted. Krishna had always considered Ramona as a bane but when she was in his embrace he had felt a strange urge to protect her.
Suddenly he was reminded of another person whom he had held like this. Whom he had always wanted to make his but whom he had lost just because of.
This bane standing in front of me Krishna thought angrily.
Ramona saw the anger in his eyes and returned back to reality.
You are a fool Ramona she chided herself mentally. A single tear rolled down her eyes.
She rushed away from there.
Back to present'.
Krishna closed his eyes remembering the moment. His phone rang breaking his reverie.
"Ramona'wow think of the devil and the devil calls" Krishna said irritated.
"What?" he snapped taking the call.
"Are you coming for the pooja" Ramona asked not bothering with any pleasantries either.
"Mein yahan bina kaam ke nahi beta hun'.tumhare pooja pat mein mujhe koi interest nahin hain'.samjhi" Krishna retorted.
"Excuse me Krishna Khuranna'.ithna bhadkne ki koi zaroorath nahin hain'.I am also not interested in inviting you'.who badi bhabhi ne bola tumse aur Maan bhai se poochne ke liye" Ramona shot back.
"I am sure unhe bhi bahuth kaam hain'.but for bhabhi's sake I will ask him" Krishna said
He dialed Maan's cabin phone.
"Hello" Maan said shortly.
"Bhai Krishna here'.are you Chothe's and Sid bhai's pooja" Krishna asked.
"Who will look after all this work then? Did Sur call you'.she already knows I won't come then"
"No badi bhabhi didn't call'..Ramona called actually" Krishna explained.
"Tell her I am not coming and you too" Maan said.
"Sure bhai" Krishna said.
"Bhai isn't coming happy?" Krishna asked
"Immensely darling" Ramona scoffed and cut the call.
She sighed and headed out of the room.
"Shikha dekho Bua daadi ne yeh pooja rakhwaya'.please aa jao" Ramona heard Sur pleading with Shikha.
"How many times I have to tell you I won't come'.just get out of here now" Shikha screeched.
Ramona face contorted in anger. She strode over to Shikha's room.
"Shikha bado se thameez se baath karna seekho" Ramona scolded Shikha.
"Stop ordering me around okay'.I have told the lot of you not to interfere with my life'.then why the heck do you butt? Are you enjoying being insulted?" Shikha asked and she shut the door in their face.
"Iss ladki ne tho aaj hadh paar kar dhi'.Badi bhabhi aaj tho iski shikayath" Ramona started.
"Chod na Ramona'.bachi hain" Sur brushed it off.
"Aur bigdi bhi'..isse nahin kehna tho iske bahiyyo ko chahiye'.sar chada rakha hain apni behen ko" Ramona said angrily.Ramona and Fiza didn't tolerate Shikha as much as the other two did.
"Chodo bhi'..chalo dher ho rahi hain" Sur took her arm leading her towards the hall.
"Ab yeh Fiza kaha gayab ho gayi" Sur said.
"Fiza" Sur called out.
