'Once bitten, twice shy' - its applies perfectly to Maan & his response to Geet here. Earlier he dint get the chance to know and hear from Rahul, dint get to trust the boy to confide in him that almost cost him the child. He cannot afford to trust another or a third woman to hurt his family or family name again. Isn't that what Pinky too mentioned to Geet.

Again it applies to the women who entered his life with the child or child's name in pretext though all they cared for was Khurana wealth & lure him, trap him-Nayantara & Sameera. So how is he to believe Geet now who he does not even know much of beyond the point that she is Rahul's nanny as was Sameera & that she showed immense care for the child. But her care & concern are real how is he to know after having been cheated by the two women he trusted with Rahul, or the 'child' as reason for their coming into his life.

As for Rahul, that child can never get out of the insecure feeling that Sameera filled his mind with & that has stayed with him so long & deep-rooted. He is guarding his li'l world from more of wannabe Sameera's that will come to take his Dad away from him.

Geet, her painful past & loving heart that made her the mother bear guarding the cub like & the young woman who lost her heart to the man both are shattered by their lack of trust in her.
