There was complete silence and my heart was pounding in fear. The doors were stuck and there was no way out of this building. It wasn't even built properly, just a few pieces of rods and bricks put together to make the outline and yesterday's rain had made it weak. I saw pieces of bricks falling down slowly near my leg and wooden rods dropping down from nowhere. The place was now dark and I was out of energy and water. I hadn't eaten a thing since morning, thanks to the Lad Governor; the breakfast wasn't up to my normal weight as well. My eyes were droopy and my head felt heavy, I closed my eyes and relaxed my back on to the raw wall structure.

"Sir, did you happen to send a girl to the construction site this morning?" Mr.Sinha asked on the phone.

"Yes I did, what happened?" I replied back with a firm voice but I could sense the tension in the man's speech.

"Weell...I did not see her around and also while evacuating the building, when the manager checked. She was not there. So I thought that she might have gone home..."

"Hmm," I hung up, "The galls of this Khushi Kumari Gupta to even think about leaving the work incomplete and go home. This girl sure is going to get a piece of my mind tomorrow!" I thought.

"Are chahe who Khusi ho ya phushi, he toh tumhari behen hi naa. Agar woh ghar nahi pohnchi toh hum kya karen?" Mami blabbered on with the person on the other line.

The rest of the family still stood still in the living room with nani being upset and Akash and Anjali sad with her rejection of Lavanya. I literally ran to the phone and grabbed it from Mami's hand, my heart was beating 100km/h just thinking where Khushi could be at this hour.

"Mein Arnav Singh Raizada bol raha hoon, Khushi kahan hai?" I asked trying to keep my voice calm but still the slight fear came out.

"Woh woh hum Payal bol rahe hain, Khushi kaam pe gayi thi aur abhi tak nahi lauti, uska phone bhi nahi lag raha," Khushi's sister was extremely frightened, but a bit less than me.

"Mein usko dhund lunga." I cut the phone and raced outside the house leaving everyone stunned.

Turning the keys to open the car door, I dropped them; I was so nervous (for the first time) that I was practically shaking.

"Bhai? Let me drive." Akash pleaded and I gave him the key quickly taking the passenger seat.

"Construction site, quick," I ordered.

It was dark outside and the site had been declared dangerous to work in, and Khushi might be in there, how was she doing? So many questions popped up. Her face held so many emotions that sometimes my heart melts in front of her. The innocence in her face is like that of a little child and her bubbly character makes everyone fall into her words. But she does talk a lot like Jabalpur Express.

My body jerked as the tires came to a sudden halt on the sandy floor, the construction site right in front. I climbed down the car and hurried in to the building. The place was a mess, bricks and rods were falling like meteorites from the sky. A wooden rod fell from the top and I just missed it. I searched the bottom floor and did not find anyone. I climbed the stairs carefully but still got a few pieces of white plaster chipping off falling on to my expensive suit. The second floor was bare and without any rooms so there was obviously no one there. As I climbed the third floor, my heartbeat was increasing with every step I took towards it. Khushi better be here somewhere.

"Khushi! KHUSHI!!!" I yelled as I went through what looked like a hallway of the office. It was all blocked with raw materials that had fallen.

"Khushi's bag?" I looked at her colourful jhola that she always carried around and on top of that was her nokia cellphone. It felt as if I had gotten some light out of a black hole, finally, some clue of her being near somewhere.

"KHUSHII!!!" I kept on yelling and walking through the hallway. I reached upon a door that seemed to be locked.

"KHUSHI!!Koi HAi!!!" I banged on the door but got no reply.

"Damn it! Iss Khushi ki wajah se mujhe yeh sab kaam karne padenge," I grumbled while lifting the wooden rod that weighed a few tons.

Removing the extra fungus compilation from the front of the door, I somehow managed to barge into the small room. At the sight of it, I panicked. Khushi was on the floor, unconscious and the roof was almost about to collapse.

"Khushi!Khushi! Please outho!! Get up!! Khushi!!," not getting a response I grabbed her delicate figure carefully into my arms and made her head lean on my chest.

"Hang in there khushi," I mumbled as I ran towards the exit.

As I exited, I breathed a breath of relief, the construction site behind me had collapsed and I had just reached the car in the nick of time. I looked down at the sleeping face of Khushi and was lost in her beauty, she looked like an angel in my arms.

"Bhai!" Damn this Akash, wait, what am I thinking, why am I mad that he interrupted my thoughts. Arg!

"Yeh ladki mujhe pagal kardegi," I said in a low voice.

"Isse apne ghar le jao aur wahan doctor ko bhi bula lena, mein ghar jaa raha hoon," I said normally.

"Par bhai..." Akash gave me a don't -you -think kind of a look but I returned a glare.

"Hmph...theek hai... isko apne hi ghar lejate hain," I said and his face lit up immediately. What was with everyone in my house and this girl?

"Don't worry Mr.Raizada, she is just out of energy and hasn't eaten anything the whole day. But I recommend a complete bed rest for a day at least." The doctor bid us farewell and gave me a multivitamin tablet for her weakness.

"Chotte! Tumne Khushi ki behen ko bata diya ke woh hamare saath hai?" Nani asked as she patted Khushi's head and I nodded.

"Theek hai, ek kaam karo, unhe yeh bhi keh do ke kal Khushi pura din humare saath rahigi. Hum uska pura dhyaan rakhenge."

"WHAT THE...?! Nani app...yeh.." I was left speechless. This girl was to stay in MY house and get treated as if she was some maharani!?

"Dekhye, iss sab mein aaphi ki galti hai aur iska sudhar bhi aphi karenge.PURA DIN KAL APP KHUSHI KE SAATH RAHENGE! Samjhe ke nahi?"

I choked on my own saliva. Was nani mad? But for some reason I refrained from saying anything, was it the guilt building up inside of me? Or was it the feeling of losing Khushi again?

The night had fallen and it was late, from all the affairs today I was just happy with the thought of falling asleep.

NEXT MORNING:

"ARNAV!" Nani yelled and I got startled, she barely ever calls me that. It kind of crept me out and I hurriedly rushed to see what all the commotion was all about. Upon reaching the dining table I find everyone seated for breakfast already.

"Di, yeh breakfast aap sab itni subah subah kyun kar rahe hai?"

"Chotte, its 9 already," she said with a smile.

"WHAT? Aur appne..."I got cut off

"Humne office mein keh diya hai ke ASR aaj nahi aa rahe, aur ek din chuti toh banti hai," she winked at me and I knew I had lost the argument before it had even started.

I left to get ready and then have some breakfast. The warm water felt so good under my skin, it swept the entire load from my eyes and lightened my head. I ruffled my hair and wiped them with a towel and let them dry naturally. I wore black sweats and a white t-shirt. I walked past the hall when I heard a few muffled voices.

"Nahi, hume nahi khana. Agar kuch muh me dal bhi diya toh who Lad Governor andar jhake nikalega," Khushi whinned in the room.

I was stunned by the way she looked in the morning; her hair was out, flowing. The night suit she was wearing was light pink and made up of silk, it made her curves pop out properly. The soft light of the morning sun was gliding on her skin making it look flawless and beautiful.

She made a face and went into her train of thoughts. The servant looked up at me in surprise and I gently instructed him to leave. Taking the food tray from his hands I sat down beside her.

"Khalo...itna bhi bura nahi hai." She looked up at me, wide eyed.

"Di bohot accha khana banati hai," she was still in a state of shock.

My next instinct was to grab the spoon and fill it with some yogurt and bring it near her rosy pink lips. She slowly opened her mouth and grabbed on to the spoon. She licked her lips with the ends of her tongue and I just stared at the sight. Simultaneously, I kept on feeding her and after her one paratha had been finished; she reached for the other one, dipped it in the yogurt and brought it near my mouth.

I slowly brought my lips near her fingers and she kept the piece of bite inside my mouth. Before, she could take away her fingers, I licked them gently.

"Ahem,Ahem!"

I backed off, juggling with the tray of food and almost made it fall, I heard Di's laughter and my face was burning. Damn! I shoved the plate into Khushi's hand and rushed out the door without glancing back.
