Folks from now on wards I have indulge myself to the far extent to take all the ceremonial rituals of possible Punjabi wedding and present you with love and care..Please excuse me if anything missed or used..it is unintentionally..

Recap..

Today was the Shagun, engagement ceremony that marks the beginning of the wedding celebrations. It was all set to be arranged in Gurudwara for Groom side as per Savitri Devi's request and the evening was at Handa's place for the Bride since couples didn't demand the confrontation it was like old days traditional wedding. Mohindra Lal was bit of modern and traditional that suites his style.

Chapter Sixteen...

Tilak Ceremony (Kumkum)

Coming out of his trance Mohindra Lal hollered his wife and asked to hurry up as they have to be at the Gurudwara on time. The entire immediate relatives got gather and they did little prayer before they left for the Tilak. At Khurana's Dadima had managed to convince Maan to come for Tilak as explaining how important it is since he is not ready for the engagement then this is must and he can't have his way all the time. It is part of the ceremony and its bride's side has to meet him and beginning the ceremony of the wedding starting with his Tilak. She was stern about it. Maan realized that getting married is not just to agree but he has to somehow participate some of the rituals as it pertain to him. She has been understanding ever since given the short notice and did not demand much on him the way she should have as his Dadima as his parent, and despite the fact only the heir of Khurana Empire at least he could agree to this. Moreover it was held in Gurudwara therefore he didn't argue much, picked the cloths that Dadima handed him and went to dress. It was pleasantry dark beige linen Kurta Payjama has all over pintex on front border, collar and cuffs given a charming effect on Maan skin...

and obediently followed his Dadima. All the Handa's been present and were waiting at the entrance. Upon approaching, Dadima introduced him to his in-laws, Maan noticed their faces were familiar but he couldn't point out how? Since he was to-be-groom everyone was anxious to meet him and he was distracted soon enough. Tilak ceremony begins with bit of holy book recital and then Mohindra Lal did the starting he did the tikka on Maan's forehead and presented him the gifts. One after another all the rest of the bride side did their part. It turned out to be a decent event. Dadima was bit nervous considering Maan with his mood swings. She thanked Babaji for keeping him in control. However he did insisted upon not staying for late and fairly enough it turned out short event as the bridal party has to rush back to prepare for the evening. Dadima thought it was Babaji's blessing as it was going smoothly enough.

Chunni Chadana. (Stole covering)

It was then evening the occasion of Chunni Chadana Stole Covering and Khurana's were coming with the Red Chunni, part of the shagun for Geet. Since Maan's parents were not alive, Savitri Devi was the only parent to him she was the sole and whole to him and she was part of all the ceremony. Since it was too short notice Savitri Devi was not able to invite all her relatives on time. Some close one managed to join and they arrived at Handa's residence. The house was under decoration preparations as they didn't get enough notice to prepare. Savitri Devi yet frowned again at her grandson for his strangest condition. She tried several attempts to get him open up and explain what was it that he took such hast decision. As usual as he is so stubborn he stayed silent and asked if she wants him to get married or not and she gave up again. She couldn't come up with better explanation to him to understand that how important the marriage is for everyone as well. All in vain. At least she was at peace once she had the conversation with Mr and Mrs Handa and how convenient they were with this short notice. It turned out Geet has requested the same kind of conditions as to keep the ceremony to as minimal possible. They did ponder over with this odd behaviour of their children. In the end they agreed as long as the couple are happy that's all it matters. And ended with the happy note that it's better for them as well, as how now a days new generation fuss over their weddings.

As they entered the main entrance of the mansion, they were greeted with the entire Handa family. It was a complete traditional welcome. Then they were led to the main hall where it was fully decorated with traditional colors and decoration.

Savitri Devi felt the warmth of her true Punjabi customaries. She felt her eyes moist, as she remembers her son and his wife. She sent a silent message to them to send their blessings to this to-be bride Geet and their son Maan to accomplish a successful marriage. She came out of her trance by the interruption by the buzz among the people upon arrival of Geet. She simply looked gorgeous in her simple yet elegant bright multicolour Anarkali. Her beauty valued the dress more than the dress upraising her beauty.

Geet was seated on the stage, and people gathered around her. Dadima walked up to Geet and started the ceremony. Geet felt a familiar pang; she thought she has met this elderly lady before as she kissed her on her forehead and embraced her. Pulling back Dadima covered her head with the beautiful Red Chunni.

and presented her with some traditional Kangan and necklace on behalf of her and Maan's mother.

Following this as a ritual Dadima fed Geet some sweet rice. Usually the ceremony comes to the end with the exchanging of rings between the prospective bride and groom; unfortunately in this case it was not an option. One by one the entire immediate relative completed their part of the ceremony and time passed with the first day traditions and rituals; it was the enjoyable moments for the relatives except the main duo.
