Chapter 12: Moment for Life

Previously: However, if he thought ignoring Rahul would be that easy, he didn't know too well. "So how about you ask her on a date to figure that out?" Armaan turned his head as much as he could and as fast as he could.. But all he could mumble was a tiny little, "What…?"

Rahul tried not to giggle at his face… which looked horrified at the moment. "Don't "what" me! You heard it right..." Armaan blinked a couple of times and finally spoke, "You are insane in the membrane! NO!" He yelled in disbelief and settled back in his seat when he saw Rahul gesturing him to sit down. No one said anything for a while, and Armaan thought maybe Rahul wouldn't budge now. But little did he know… as soon as he was back on his laptop, he heard Rahul go… "How about now?" Armaan's eyes were about to pop out… he glared daggers at Rahul while Rahul just shrugged. "Bye" He simply said, shutting his laptop with a bang and grabbed the keys to his car as he headed out the door… leaving Rahul with a cheesy grin on his face.

"Where is this kid?!" 40 angrily looked over Rahul's shoulder as they stood waiting for Armaan in the middle of the street. It was another bright, sunny morning and the boys had decided to grab breakfast before they all headed to work for the rest of the day. But breakfast wasn't the only thing they had planned for. Rahul, who had asked Armaan about the date the previous night, told 40 how Armaan reacted to it. Now, they were planning on getting more stuff out of Armaan and ganging up on him, if possible, to make him ask Riddhima out on a date. So the hidden purpose behind all this, was to get Armaan to accept the fact that he likes Riddhima and then… make him ask her on a "very romantic date", as 40 had said. "Here's comes Mr. I'm-Always-Late…" 40 rolled his eyes as Armaan walked up to the two of them. "I woke up late, man. Leave me alone" Armaan defended himself as he gave a dap to Rahul and playfully punched 40 on the arm. "Yea right, or was it the drive thru again?" 40 said, slightly grinning at Rahul from the corner of his eye. "I'm surprised Riddhima isn't here with you today?" Rahul added, as they both smirked while walking ahead. Armaan frowned, "what the hell?" he mumbled and followed them inside the breakfast place. "Oh so you guys are gonna team up against me now?" He asked as soon as they sat down at a table after ordering their food. "What? What's that supposed to mean?" 40 scratched his head trying to play dumb and Rahul played along. "You damn right know what it means 40-40!"

"Aye, no need to say my name twice I know you're mad cause I'm better looking but keep calm, buddy"

"Right, let the women decide that", Armaan rolled his eyes cockily.

"You tryna hint something there? You think the women don't like me!" 40 gasped heavily, "Let me tell you what, I can get more girls than you can ever get, Armaani!"

"First of all, don't call me Armaani again", Armaan pointed his index finger at him like it was the last warning 40 was getting. "And second, is that a challenge?"

"Uhmm, it's whatever you wanna think it is big boy!"

"Ha, let's go then. What's the challenge about?" Armaan asked as confident as ever.

"You gotta ask someone out on a date. Get a girlfriend and…"

"Uhh, forget it. I'm too good for that" Armaan said cutting 40 in and looking away. 40 and Rahul stared at him and then at each other, their grins making its way back to their faces. "Why not?" Rahul asked curiously, "So you're too good for girls now? What… you're on that gay flow.."

"Whoaa! Whoa there boy, calm down I didn't say I was gay!" Armaan quickly butted in while 40 and Rahul both smirked. "I just… don't do girlfriends and dates and all that" he said in a lower tone.
"Cut the crap Armaani. You just can't get a girl… you're losing your charm" 40 shook his head as if disappointed in Armaan. Rahul smirked at that, how the hell was 40 a dj… he wondered. This guy needs to be an actor!

Armaan side eyed 40; he was definitely getting on his last! "I can! Matter fact, I will if I want to. But I just don't right now, so hop off"

"You know what they say about liars… when they get angry, that means they're definitely lying" 40 casually talked his mind out without saying it directly to Armaan. He glanced at Rahul who quickly added, "I... I've heard that too, actually"

Armaan stared at the two of them helplessly. "You guys tryna be all slick… I know what you all are about!" Armaan exclaimed, leaving 40 and Rahul no choice but to burst out laughing. "Well, if you know then you might as well speak about it" 40 said trying to sound professional with this conversation. Armaan fake smiled at him and shook his head, "No thank you. I'd rather NOT have this conversation. Rahul and I discussed it already"

"I never said the discussion was over!" Rahul immediately shouted out, and 40 nodded in agreement. Armaan gave them the are-you-serious look and they both shrugged.

Sighing deeply, he asked, "What do you want?". The other two flashed a victory smile at each other and cleared their throats, "So, we know you like her," 40 started off.

"Riddhima? As a close friend… yea" Armaan said avoiding eye contact with either of them. They both were narrowing their eyes at him as he looked away. "Dude, you know you can't lie to your brothers?" Rahul said in a more serious tone. "When your face lights up around her, it's hard to hide it. We can tell… Damn, I bet anyone can tell. Stop denying it... it's not a bad thing! Riddhima is probably the nicest girl I've ever met, and that includes Muskaan too!" Armaan looked him dead in the eye and Rahul nodded.

"Plus, Riddhima's gotta donk!" 40 rolled his tongue in his mouth as the other two gave him a blank stare. "Shut it, 40!" Rahul nudged him with his elbow. "What! I'm just saying… Armaani can get it…" he whispered the last part, cracking himself up.

"You call me that again and you won't ever be able to say my name in your life" Armaan narrowed his eyes at 40 who sucked his teeth. "40, we're getting off topic with this man" Rahul whispered making Armaan suspiciously look at them.

40 quickly cleared his throat as if he was in some conference meeting and folded his arms across the front, "So… you do like her?" he asked a puzzled Armaan.

"Uhh… I.. uhm..uhh" They rolled their eyes at his hesitation. This was no big deal, they thought. All he had to do was accept it right now. Not like they were asking him to ask her out on a date… although that's what he was gonna do after but, for right now, him admitting it would be great. Armaan was still deep in his thoughts when Rahul suddenly spoke, "Hey, Riddhima! What's up?" This made Armaan jump off his seat. He literally knocked the table over to stand up, turn around, and look. 40 and Rahul rolled in their chairs, laughing their hearts out while Armaan had the most frightened look on his face. He turned around to his friends and threw the rolled up napkin at them. "You guys are such assholes, man. Fxck you!" he sat back down, as embarrassed as ever. "We love you too man! Now you have to admit, haha" 40 chuckled along with Rahul.

Armaan sighed, they won, and he gave up. "Fine, I do… I like her. I would date her, but she wouldn't so stop with this" he lowered his head in some kind of shame. "What?" 40 said skeptically. "Dude, you don't even know. She li…"

"How do you know she doesn't want to?!" Rahul immediately cut 40. He widened his eyes at him, asking him to shut his mouth about Riddhima's feelings. They couldn't break the promise they made to her. "I don't know… I just feel like…" Armaan began but 40 interrupted in the middle, "Just ask her out on a date. I'm pretty sure she's not going to reject you. No one can!" 40 confidently exclaimed making Armaan smile. "You think this will work?" Armaan asked nervously. "OF COURSE IT WILL," came the synced reply from the other two.

"Alright, I'll ask her out" he said smiling away as both 40 and Rahul grinned in excitement. "Do you need any help bro? We can help you out on…"

"You think I don't how to ask a girl out on a date?! You doubt my charm still, 40?" Armaan sardonically asked giving him one his dimpled smiles. 40 laughed and shook his head while Armaan hugged them up before leaving. Rahul and 40 watched him go… and turned to each other with the biggest smiles on their faces. "We make a pretty good team, bro.. I'm not even gonna lie" 40 said pounding Rahul's knuckles. "We sure do… let's call Muskaan and tell her about this real quick" Rahul said dialing Muskaan's number.

On the other side, Riddhima and Muskaan were busy working on the opening of their new store. It was almost time to go and Muskaan was just packing up when she got the call from Rahul telling her about the date. After that call, her happiness was immeasurable. She got so excited, she was about to yell everything out in front of Riddhima. But fortunately, Riddhima had turned away from her on the right time. Nobody knew what Armaan was gonna do… and no one could guess either. But they were all just hoping for it to be something extremely special.

"Muski, mera blue folder kahan hai?" Riddhima asked searching around Muskaan's drawer. "Woh tere desk mein hai Ridzy" Riddhima rolled her eyes and got up from her knees as she headed to her office. She quickly walked in and pulled open her top drawer in her desk. Her blue folder was surprisingly not there, so she frowned and looked around a little further in the drawer. But not being able to find it anywhere, she looked on top of her desk and noticed there was a pile of folders in the middle of it. Her brows furrowed as she remembered she never took those folders out. Shrugging it off, she removed a few folders until she found the blue one. "There it is" she mumbled as she smiled picking it up. But her smile faded when she saw there something else there too… there was a rose poking out from underneath a folder. She frowned and removed all the folders one by one. When she was done removing them, her heart literally skipped a beat. There were ten roses, each with a letter on it. Together it all read D-A-T-E W-I-T-H M-E, and a little heart next to it had a question mark on it. She stared at it for the longest time ever, just smiling her heart out, until she realized she didn't know who it was from. She wanted it to be from him… but she didn't know what to think of. She didn't want to get her expectations all high up for no reason and then get her heart shattered like the last time. Her thoughts wore her smile off and now she was just staring at the roses like they were unreal, until she heard someone cough. She quickly looked up and there he was… leaning on the door of her office, smiling his dimpled smile at her, and this was all she needed. His smile did wonders on her because as soon as she saw him standing there, she could do nothing but just smile back… And that answered the question that Armaan asked through the roses.
