Chapter Seven
(Welcome)
He looked ahead and he nodded... he turned off his car and he got out of his car. Geet and Maan walked over towards her doorstep and she rang her doorbell. A girl opened the door and she was a pretty girl. Geet's height... same straight hair.. except she was more modern in teh way that she wore shorts and a t-shirt and she had glasses on.
" Andar aanay degi kya?" said Geet with a smile. Meera nodded but she looked at Maan again and Maan entered along with Geet. Maan entered the cute looking house. It was definitely very modern and Geet took off her shoes and Maan did the same. Maan looked around and Geet said, " Aayiye..." Maan followed into a small living room with a big picture of Meera and Geet hug on the fireplace. Geet looked beautiful... and Meera looked very good as well.
" Behetiye" said Geet. Maan nodded and he sat down. Meera looked at Geet with a million questions... but she finally said, " Hi... mera naam Meera hai... I'm Geet's cousin... and you must be Dr. Maan?". Maan offered her hand in a handshake and Maan shook it. " Nice to meet you Meera" said Maan. Meera smiled, " You two sit, I'll bring some coffee..." " Oh no.. I'll be leaving soon" said Maan. " No.. its the Handa sister rule.. no guest leaves without some sort of nourishment" laughed Meera. The two girls were so similiar to eachother and Geet sat down on the couch in front of Maan. She smiled, " So? How was the rest of the day?"
" How can this girl change emotions so fast?.. she ripped her heart out in front of me... and now she;s happy? seriously.. kis jahan se aayi hai" thought Maan. " Dr. Maan?" said Geet. " Oh the rest of the day was good... the interns seemed to miss you quite a bit... each of them asked me where you were" said Maan. Geet laughed, " Probably because they all want to complain together about me". " No.. Im sure that is not the reason... they really like you" said Maan. " And you Dr. Maan?" said Geet with a laugh. Maan froze at her question... but he was about to say something until Meera entered with three cups of coffee. She set it down on the table and she gave one to Maan, Geet and she took one for herself.
Geet sipped on her coffee and she put it down and Meera said, " Nice to meet you again Dr. Maan... I always hear about you but Im glad that you came today". Maan put his coffee down, " I hope you hear good things... " There was an awkwardness in the air but Geet cleared it, " You've met my darling cousin and sister and it would be really good if I could meet your dadimaa.. she seems like a very nice lady". "Oh hell no! Dadimaa will start to think things.... no waaaay!" thought Maan. " Yes you should... " said Maan.
Suddenly, Maan's phone began to ring and he excused himself out of the room and picked it up, " Hello.. dadimaa.. ji.. woh" said Maan. Geet and Meera could hear the conversation and Maan continued, " Ji dadimaa.. main aaraha hoon.. dadimaa please.. don't sound so dramatic". Geet and Meera let out a little laugh but Geet smacked her on the hand and Meera was quiet again... " Dadimaa! please.. not right now.. baad mein? theek hai? okay bye dadimaa.. byeee" said Maan with pure sarcasm and frustration in his voice. Geet and Meera couldn't control themselves but they had to since Maan came in and he said, " Okay... thankyou for having me... I'll see you tomrrow Dr. Geet? and nice to meet you Meera". The girls stood up and they walked him to the door and he left... mumbling something.
Geet and Meera shut the door and they started to hysterically laugh... " He sounded like a teenage boy with his mother calling tosee where he was! wow! thats classic!" said Meera. Geet laughed," Its hilarious... wait till my interns hear about thiss!". The girls were laughing all the way to their living room.
The next day, Geet was especially happy.. she didn't know why but she felt her heart to be less heavy than before and she was chirpy all morning. She wore a turqoiuse anarkali and she left her hair open. She wore her silver heels and wore light silver bangles to match with her outfit. She did her usual makeup and she wore little tiny silver earrings. As she came down the stairs, she found Meera in her business outfit and hurrying to find her keys. She saw Geet come down and she stopped and smiled, " Oh ho.. itni tayaari?" " Shutup.. main janti hoon kay tu kya soch rahi hogi" said Geet rolling her eyes.
" Oh jii.. you never wear more than one inch heels.. and now its three inches? yeh kaisa hua? and you would never wear those to work... you thought them to be too high... kaisa change? aur kab Miss Handa.. apni behn ko bhi batayiye" teased Meera. " Shutup... " said Geet as she grabbed her keys. " Oye nashta kya karegi? tere liye nashta rak diya tha" said Meera. " Nahi.. I'll grab coffee and a bagel from work.. Im already going to get late" said Geet as she was about to head out the door.
Meera laughed," Acha theek hai.. bye idiot.. aur ghar zara jaldi aana aur meri chabi le.. I'll take the taxi..." " Okay bye meer!" said Geet as she took Meera's car. Geet drove all the way to Sanjeevani and she parked her car in the doctors parking lot. She came out of the car and grabbed her purse. She was smiling so hard... it was a different day... she didn't know why...
On the other hand, Armaan arrived to the hospital on his motorbike. He took off his helmet and saw Geet walking in. He stopped and smiled... " Wow.. Geet maam looks... beautifull". Armaan saw her smiling and walking in. As Geet entered, everyone seemed to be staring at her and she greeted them with her same bubbly attitude. She was walking and behind her was Armaan. Armaan rushed up to her and he said, "Good morning Maam". Geet stopped and smiled, " Good morning Armaan.. kaise ho?" " I'm good maam..par... you look unusually happy today and I see that you look very nice today" said Armaan. Geet laughed, " Acha.. maska polish choro.. aur Shilpa pe yeh lines use karo.. mujhe par nahi". Armaan got a little embarassed, " Sorry maam I didn't mean it... par.. how.. did you know?"
" I was at your age once too Armaan... and I know... and btw... Shilpa likes flowers.. infact.. every girl does..." said Geet. " Really? she'll like them?" said Armaan with interest in his voice. " Oye.. mujhse kyun pooch rahe ho.. tum pyar karte ho usse... tumhe hi pata lagana hoga.... aur Mr. Flirt... you should know this... " said Geet with a smirk. Geet. " Maam.. you are so nice.." said Armaan. " Acha jao! jaldi.. I should see you all at the front in about five minutes" said Geet. Armaan nodded and he left...
Geet continued on walking and she saw Maan coming her way. Her eyes widened and she got a little embarassed... he was wearing turqoiuse.. too?
