He banged the door and entered the room furiously ... Throwing his jacket on the floor he banged his fist on the wall ... Suddenly his phone rang bringing him out of his fury - he looked at the phone and suddenly all his agitation and rage took a backseat and calmness started engulfing him ... He slumped on the couch and pressed the bone of middle of his eyes and rested his head on the couch-head ... "Hello ...", her sweet voice cooled his senses and a soft smile crept on his face ...
"Hi sweetheart ..." His tired voice brought a sad smile on her face and she slowly replied, "Tired?" He tiredly nodded his head, "Hmm ..." He rested his elbows on his knees and slumped his head in his hand, "Anna I need to tell you something ..." She sensed the seriousness in his voice and softly said, "What happened Chris?"
Mumbai, 4th August 1998
He was standing waiting for her when he heard her footsteps behind him ... A smile crept on his lips and he turned to see her but what he saw next baffled him ... She was in tears and crying ... Before he could utter a word, she hugged him tight; hiding herself in him ... She started weeping in his arms; uttering his name once in a while ... He wrapped his arms around her getting worried ... He cupped her face and made her look at him while wiping her tears ... "Saba kya hua?" She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him ... He cupped her face and blinked his eyes in assurance ... "Ali ... wo ... wo.." He nodded and caressed her cheeks; she hugged him again, "Ali, Abbu mere nikaah ki baat kar rahe hain ... wo Zaakir se mera nikaah karaana chaahte hain ..." He was shocked but composed himself for her ... He embraced her and kissed her head, "Koi tumhe mujhse alag nahi kar sakta Saba, koi nahi ... Main ye hone hi nahi dunga ..."
She looked at him with hope in her eyes, "Sach ... aap mujhe apne se juda nahi hone denge na ..." He shook his head, "Bilkul nahi ..." She hugged him and said, "Main aapke bina mar jaaungi Ali ..." He kissed her head, "Kabhi nahi Saba ... aisa kuch nahi hoga ..."
Mumbai, 15th March 1999
"What happened Chris?", she heard him sigh deeply and got tensed, "Anna ... the building ..." She could hear the pain in his voice, the nervousness began to crop up in her ... "Chris please tell me what happened?" He sighed and finally spoke, "Anna, the building fell Anna ... All my hard work went in drain - someone did mixing in the cement and due to the rainfall, the whole building crashed Anna ..." His eyes became wet while tears rolled down her eyes ... She composed herself and softly asked, "When will you come back Chris?" ... He sighed and replied, "It would take another four months now ..." She bit her lip to control herself from crying, he knew she was crying but could not build enough courage to console her .... She wiped her tears and taking a deep breath she spoke, "Don't worry, I'll wait but on one condition ..." Suddenly listening to her chirpy voice, he opened his eyes and straightened, "What condition?" She smiled listening to his calmed voice, "When you return back, we'll get married ..." After a long time, he finally smiled, "Keep the wedding gown ready ... airport se seedha church mein jaayenge ..." She giggled and her sweet voice calmed his soul ... Both of them knew that together they could face all the troubles and overcome all the problems ... Their love would conquer everything by just being together ...
Sorry for the short chapter but the next chapter has some important things cropping up and therefore this one is the base for the next one ....
