Chapter 2
She crossed her legs, and sat on the bonnet of the car. Though nearly crushed due to boredom, her tired eyes remained glued to Armaan, who couldn't stop talking restless strolls. It had been an hour since the car had stopped midway; that they had been sitting here, doing nothing!
"There has to be a way!" Armaan threw his hands in the air. Ill faith seemed be charmed by the two, since it followed them everywhere!
"This is the worst nightmare ever!" She sighed, continuing with her incessant tapping of her fingers. The scorching sun had successfully fried her brain, as 'peace' and 'prosperity' was completely out of the picture now.
Neither were the two at peace..since they just couldn't tolerate being with each other, nor did they prosper [circumstances speaks for itself].
"Ugh!" Agitated at the owner, she forced a kick on the car. Frustration was the sole thing left in her now, since she had been waiting in the mid-highway for about an hour now.
Misery wouldn't fail to evade her 'Oh so exciting' trip, she realized, as Armaan's car stopped on the mid way.
It din't take long for them to realize that 'Armaan's baby' won't make it anymore. The only open option was that they had to take a lift.
But was that easy? Not really, as the highway was completely deserted right now. It was as if the entire human civilization in the area had suddenly ceased to exist, and that Armaan-Riddhima were about to share the most 'wonderful' time ever!
.....
"Oh, my god!" Riddhima switched the music player off for one more time and glared at him.
"Can you please stop doing that?" She yelled at her helper, for not letting her live in peace. It had been an hour now since the two had been fighting over the 'MUSIC PLAYER' issue.
Armaan was terribly bored, hence decided to chill with some music. But apparently, that was too much for Riddhima to bear. She tried to take control of herself, but only to her failure, since the metallic beat was getting on to her nerves. On addition to that, Armaan increased the volume, thereby making it impossible for Riddhima to survive the battle.
"This is MY CAR, remember?" Armaan looked at her sarcastically.
"You think I care? Just stop the music dammit!" Armaan switched back to the music, while Riddhima again switched if off.
"No, I wont!" Riddhima rolled her eyes as the loud beat of the drums began testing her patience again.
But right now just the pain wasn't enough, and thus came the next hurdle in the story.
The car began slowing down suddenly, Riddhima noticed. She looked at Armaan quizzically, who seemed to be pulling up the car on the mid-way.
"Whats wrong?" Riddhima looked at Armaan, who pressed the key harder this time.
"What do you think happened, Einstein?" The extremely pissed Armaan threw her a sarcastic look.
"Ahh! So..your car is a big time jerk too!" She leaned on the driver, speaking in whispers.
"How compatible!" A sarcastic smile formed on her lips, while her eyes showed nothing but endless frustration.
"I can drop you back home. You know that, right?"
Her sarcastic smile disappeared as soon as she saw him blinking meaningfully. He had just meant every word uttered, which meant that she should keep quiet.
"I'm sorry." She muttered, not yet looking at him.
"Oh, din't get ya!" Armaan leaned on her, trying to hear clearer.
"I said.." Riddhima shouted, leaning on him further and continued, "I'm sorry!"
"Hm, whatever!" Armaan rolled his eyes and moved out of the car. Riddhima dropped her jaws in shock. The guy was being unbelievable! It was as if he hadn't of the word 'MANNERS' at all!
......
"Oh, Thank you!" Riddhima put on one of her charming smiles for the driver to show her gratitude. The sweet smile seemed to be more than pleasing the man, as Armaan found his eyes checking her out.
'.
After about an hours wait, a ray of hope seemed to emerge in their dark worlds when Riddhima saw a mini-truck approaching them.
Not wanting to wait more, she instantly stood up and made the truck halt.
"Kaha jaana hai aapko?" Riddhima's smile faded when she saw a middle aged truck driver grin at her. She couldn't pay attention to his speech since she found the mountain sized mole on his face more intereting.
"Goa jana hai, bhaiya!" All the glow of excitement on the drivers face vanished when he saw the girl's 'boyfriend' talk to her, while the girl seemed lost.
"Yeh gaddi bhi wahi jaa rahi hai." The man smirked at Riddhima, while she returned a smile.
The exchanges of glances din't escape Armaan's eyes. Not exactly liking the look on the drivers face, Armaan found himself stiffening his body involuntarily.
'.
'
"Yes, and that's enough for the day."Armaan pushed Riddhima out of the man's sight and made himself a cover for her. The hint was instantly caught by the fellow as he immediately lowered his gaze, attempting to clear his throat.
The man was though generous enough to give them a lift, but was least liked by Armaan right now. Suspicious of him, Armaan never failed to protectively cover Riddhima , who seemed to take no notice of the situation.
"Hey, Miss?" The young man politely opened the door to the passenger seat for Riddhima.
"Miss Riddhima.." Riddhima nodded and began sitting inside the car when Armaan pushed her out of the way.
"Miss not-interested." Armaan glared at the dude one more time.
"What the hell is your problem?" Irritated with his irrational behavior, Riddhima removed the strand of hair bothering her and yelled at Armaan.
"Really? Riddhima, really?" Armaan looked at her sarcastically and continued, "Are you seriously blind, or plain dumb?"
"Don't bother..coz I'm going in!" Riddhima pulled opened the car door, while the driver grinned.
"No, you're not!"
She stared at him, shocked. Armaan held her hands and pushed her against the door, leaning on her protectively. A moment of silence prevailed, in which Riddhima heard nothing but her erratic heart beats.
"Don't make me pick you up!" Armaan looked into her eyes and whispered. All the inner urges to kicking him suddenly ceased, as if it never existed. She it knew it then- there was something which she dint see..but Armaan did.
"Okay, Armaan." Armaan could feel her breathe on his lips, while she spoke. Realizing the picture, Armaan immediately pulled himself up. Awkawardly, Riddhima stood up..not willing to look at him.
"Baith jao, bhaiya..der ho rahi hai!" Riddhima noticed that the driver hadn't left yet and sighed in relief.
Soon the two picked up their luggage and threw it inside the cream colored mini truck awaiting them. After the matter was sorted out, the driver with a smile on his face started the truck engine with a roar. He had just seen something that none could...Something that made him smile involuntarily.
"I'm hungry!"
Riddhima held her growling stomach and pouted.
"I wonder why, since you've already chewed the half of my brain." Armaan leaned on her and gave her another glare.
In response, he saw Riddhima straighten herself up and frowning at him.
"Oh, you have a brain? What a discovery!" She clapped her hands in glee.
"Aah! There you go again!" Armaan rolled his eyes. Not wanting to pull the verbal battle ahead, Armaan closed his eyes while Riddhima dropped her jaws in surprise.
Sleep wasn't just evading Armaan, since Riddhima found herself yawning away to glory. But there was a massive hurdle between her beautiful sleep and her-she had no pillow to snuggle!
"Aw, man!" She frowned and looked around, yet found nothing but sacks of vegetables and pulses placed near her.
A smile curved up her lips when a genius idea hit her brains. She reached up to Armaan's arms and wrapped her arms around his. As soon as she placed her head on his shoulder, she found herself craving for some sleep!
Soon the two into their deep slumber..thus making the beginning of the most memorable journey of their lives!
__________
"Wake up!" The visionary of her dreamland was suddenly shattered due to a loud scream.
"Oi, wake up or I will leave you here." Riddhima frowned and opened her eyes to see a familiar figure yelling at her.
"Armaan? What the hell are you doing in my bedroom?" The circumstances of her life slipped out of her mind, while she was fast asleep. She frowned at Armaan, waiting for him to answer.
"And what are vegetable sacks going on my bed?" Riddhima scratched her head in confusion, while she saw Armaan laugh. Then the reality of life hit her brains, which made her lower her gaze in embarrassment.
"Consider these veggies as a token of my love, sweetheart!" Armaan winked at her, after which followed a laughter riot again.
"Jerk!" Riddhima crossed her arms and blabbered under her breathe. But that couldn't stop Armaan from laughing.
"Ooh! Veggies!" Armaan imitated his beloved Riddhima in a musical tone and laughed again, while she continued staring at him.
"Now, lets go!" Armaan got down the mini van, pulling out the luggage with himself.
"Help me!" Armaan looked at Riddhima, who was trying to get off the vehicle. The helplessness on her face made him laugh again. He loved watching her scream for help, it gave him an unknown pleasure.
"Stop laughing, moron!" Riddhima placed her hands on her hip, still jumping on the vehicle for help.
"Fine. Wait!" Armaan's self control was of help, as he stopped laughing and made trails of getting Riddhima down. The initial trails failed hilariously, since Riddhima couldn't stop jumping.
"Ugh, stop dancing!" Armaan yelled at her, in response to which she pouted her face, trying to get down. Riddhima stretched her arms to meet Armaan's hands. Riddhima felt the ground underneath her disappear as Armaan took her in his arms. Slowly, she snaked her arms around his neck and placed her head on his masculine chest. This action startled Armaan, who couldn't help giving her a curious look.
"What? I'm tired. Carry me!" Riddhima answering his questions, placed her head on his chest, smiling away to glory.
"Huh? You crazy? Get down! You're not that light, as you think, by the way." Armaan yelled at her, only to which she tightened her grip around his neck.
"I don't care. Carry me! I'm sleepy." Riddhima managed to mutter.
"Carry you? Aw, okay!" She smirked devilishly, as he heard him answer.
The next thing Riddhima knew was..she felt her lower body hit the floor. She opened her eyes to find herself laid on a mid road and Armaan grinning at her.
"Stupid, moron!" She managed to stand right, thus beginning her abusive sessions.
"I'm not your slave, honey. It is my sisters blackmail tactics that me help you, and trust me..I can leave you here and go back! So basically you've to do as I say, got that?" Riddhima went silent, when she saw Armaan blackmailing her with a smirk on his face. She knew he was right, he could leave her and go. She rolled her eyes as she saw Armaan walk into a eating place.
"Ooh, Food!" And this conversation was long forgotten as the smell of the food flared up her nostrils. Finding her mouth water and her stomach growling...Riddhima had no option but to follow Armaan inside the bar.
