Chapter 13:
Riddhima was running, not bothering to wipe the tears that were streaming down her face, which were flowing faster than she could wipe them away anyway. All she wanted to do was to get far away from here - from that Natasha - from Sid.
To Riddhima's horror, Naina was standing outside, an expectant look on her face which turned to worry and anxiety when she saw Riddhima, sobbing uncontrollably. Naina grabbed her shoulder and asked in a worried voice, "Kya hua Riddhima? Are u alright? What happened?"
Unable to answer, Riddhima pulled away from her friend's grasp, and started running away with her face in her hands. She had no idea where she was headed and could only hope that she was going in direction of her car.
Just as Riddhima disappeared totally from sight, Naina was debating with herself whether or not to follow her when Sid appeared, his face harrassed and angry. "Naina, have you seen Riddhima?"
Naina simply said "Mm-hmm," and pointed towards where Riddhima had taken off, her face still anxious.
"Thanks," Sid took off.
Sue and Shilpa, all happy and laughing from the party, came outside to see what Naina was up to and stopped short at the sight of Naina's expression and the sight of Sid running towards God-knows-where.
Shilpa: 'Huh, what? Kya? Kya hua? Sab kuch theek hai? Is something wrong? Maybe we should go check on Mission Siddhima, something doesn't seem right........"
Naina gave them a look, and pushed them inside. "Siddhima khud hi apne problems solve kar sakte hain, thanks very much. Chalo mein tum dono ko apna spring wardrobe dikhaoon..."
Upon reaching a deserted part of the extremely large grounds, Riddhima leaned her back against a tree and stopped sobbing, but the tears were still flowing non-stop down her cheeks. Thunder rumbled again somewhere, but she hardly registered the fact. (BTW, my Ridzy is not scared of thunder or lightning or the dark or things that only females in serials are scared of ) Rain started drizzling slightly and wind started blowing and shaking all the branches, creating a whooshing sound.
Only one thought was pounding in Riddhima like heartbeat, Mein uss se pyaar karti hoon. Mein Sidhant Modi se pyaar karti hoon. I love him! I love him!
She started breathing heavily again as she felt as if something had broken inside her. Why? Why me? Why him? Now that I know he really loves Natasha, why did I find out now? I was happy to be just friends with him but now even that can't be possible. I will never, evrr be able to remain just friends with him now.
What she felt wasn't jealousy. Jealousy was something trivial and childish, easily dealt with. This felt like....... something inside her was broken and all the pieces were continuously piercing her insides, making them bleed.
The thought that she couldn't face Sid again without feeling the pain she was feeling now, started her sobbing again. What she didn't know was that only the shock and hurt of seeing Sid with someone else would have made her admit her real feelings. She thought of what Yuvi had said, "Be honest with yourself. You'll regret it if you don't."
If only she had been honest with herself before! If she would have just acted upon her heart and instinct instead of her brain, perhaps Sid would have been hers now. But what was the use of even that if Sid didn't love her at all?
She thought of all the moments she had had with Sid.... their first dance..... how close she had come to him and if she had just let herself go, she was sure, though she didn't want to admit it, that she would have kissed him........... the moment at her apartment when Shilpa had slammed open the door.......how her eyes had closed as she had almost given in to the desire of her heart....... then the time when she had thrown food over Natasha and landed in his arms....the look in his eyes......... the moment in the shower........... dancing to Taylor Swift when that idiot had called out......... even now when they had just been standing and looking at each other.......
Riddhima broke down completely and sank to the ground, sobbing. She hit the ground with her fists in desperation, thankful to the sound of thunder and wind and rain that was drowning out her sobs.
That's when Sid entered the little clearing surrounded by trees and saw Riddhima strike the ground. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, knowing that the girl he knew he loved was hurt because of him and Natasha. (Well, it was all Natasha's fault but you all know Sid *sigh*)
He reached Riddhima in just a few steps, who looked up before he reached her, sensing him close by. When she saw that Sid was actually right in front of her, she just wiped her eyes with her shirt in this defeated kind of way and got up. "I'm fine," she muttered in a low voice so that her voice wouldn't shake.
"Riddhima, listen - "
"I SAID I'M FINE OK?" yelled Riddhima. (More thunder rumbling)
"Riddhima," said Sid quietly, putting his hand on her face. The contact made both of their hearts beat faster and an unexpected warmth spread through them. "Mujhe pata hai ke tum kya soch rahi ho and what you're feeling - "
"NO SID," shouted Riddhima and pushed his hand away roughly. "You'll never understand what I'm going through right now. Tumhe yeh kabhi pata nahi chal sakta! Because you don't know what I'm feeling right now, NEVER, you get that???"
"But Riddhima, if you'll just listen - "
"NO SID, YOU LISTEN!" Riddhima paced away from him, going to the opposite side of the clearing and shouted "I don't care who you're with and what you want. I don't give a damn if you love Natasha or hate her! Lekin mujhe yeh zaroor pata hai ke - ke - "
Sid was getting angry now too, although he didn't know why, "Ke kya? Kya pata hai tumhe? Riddhima, sach to yeh hai ke tumhe kuch nahi pata! Apne aap se assumptions banati rehti ho aur baat karne se pehle sochti nahi ho! Ab batao! Kya pata hai tumhe!"
RIddhima looked at him out of her beautiful eyes, her expression helpless and defeated. Lightnning flashed and thunder crashed, loudly now.
Riddhima said, her voice weak, "Mujhe yeh baat pata hai Sid ke - ke mein tum se pyaar karti hoon."
Sid's whole body suddenly felt relaxed and he felt happy, as if these were the words he had been waiting for his whole life. But RIddhima went on:
"Jab bhi tumhe dekhti hoon, dekhti hi reh jaati hoon. Jab bhi mujhe choote ho to meri dhadkanein tez ho jaati hain! Jab tumhare saath hoti hoon to kabhi chodna nahi chahti hoon! Hamesha tumhare saath rehna chahti hoon, tumhe khush rakhna chahti hoon! Mujhe nahi pata kab, kyun aur kaise, lekin dheere dheere tum hi se pyaar ho gaya. I love you Sid! I LOVE YOU!"
Thunder rolled and rain started pouring down earnestly now. Having exhausted herself, Riddhima's legs gave way and she sat down on her knees in the grass, her hands in her lap and tears flowing from her eyes. "I love you," she whispered again. She knew that she had probably done the worst thing in her life now, confessed her real feeling for Sid to him, knowing that she couldn't have him. But she was wrong. (Whats new?😛)
Sid started moving towards Ridzy again. He could literally feel the love for the girl in front of him rising in his heart, and his heartbeat was quickening with every step he took.
He reached Riddhima and bent down, so that their heads were level. He lifted her chin gently, looking into the clear green eyes from which tears were still flowing. Riddhima broke the eyelock and looked away, not wanting to look into his irresistable eyes.
His eyes shining and his face earnest, he said, "Do you know - tumhe pata hai mein ne kitna intezaar kiya hai tum se yeh alfaaz sunne ke liye? In fact mujhe to khud bhi koi andaaza nahi hai ke main ne kitna wait kiya hai."
"Lekin......" Riddhima felt too weak to push him away, but she couldn't believe that he was actually saying those words.
"Mujhe achi tarah pata hai ke tum abhi kya feel rahi ho. Aur bataoon kyun?" Sid held Riddhima's face in both of his hands, and she finally met his gaze. His voice became low and husky that sent Ridzy's heart beating wildly. "Kyunke mein bhi tum se itna hi pyaar karta hoon jitna tum mujh se karti ho. I love you too Riddhima. I love you more than I can tell you. Mein bhi hamesha tumhare saath hona chahta hoon, tumhe hamesha hanste hue, muskuraate hue dekhna chahta hoon. Hamesha tumhare baare mein sochta rehta hoon. Sue se pooch lo agar mujhe nahi believe karti ho!" (THUNDER)
Riddhima, still not really believing this and thinking that it was either a dream or a very cruel joke, tried to think clearly, which was a bit hard under the circumstances, and stuttered "But -l - lekin- tum - and Natasha - you were - k - ki - " Riddhima couldn't even say the word, her heart felt so pierced she could hardly breathe.
"Me and Natasha?" Sid chuckled softly, still holding her face. "Us kissing? Seriously Riddhima. Mein ne kabhi bhi Natasha ki taraf even achhe tareeke se dekha hai? I don't think so. That b- I mean Natasha tried to kiss me by force....... I think...... I didnt even stop to find out. I love you Riddhima. I love you with all my heart."
Riddhima got up, the rain pouring down in torrents now, her heart suddenly whole and strong again, a huge smile forming on her face, her heart beating faster than it ever had before. "Sach mein?"
Sid got up too, taking both of her hands in his, entwining them and pulling her so close that their bodies were touching, their faces hardly half-a-foot away. "Sach mein," he said huskily, his heart beating a pace to match hers. They could both feel each other's hearts beating against their bodies, beating the same rhythm. Sid placed his forehead on hers and gazed into her eyes, both of their faces smiling blissfully and reflecting pure love and happiness.
And without warning, without indication of any sort, Sid let go of her hands and took Riddhima's face in his hands again and pulled it to his, making their lips touch. Thunder and lightning crashed and flashed and the rain blurred them from view. Too shocked to respond at first, Riddhima stood their like a statue, but only for like two seconds. Then she put her one arm around his neck and the placed the other in his wet hair, pulled him more closer and kissed Sid back with such intensity and passion that her heart felt as if would explode with the amount of love it was holding. Both of them remained in this position for a long time, their bodies entwined, their lips locked.
Finally, their lips parted, but they still didn't let go of each other. Sid's arms around her waist, and her arms still around his neck. Both were drenched to the skin but it didn't even seem as if they had even noticed the rain. Riddhima was blushing n smiling and was looking at the ground, amazed at what had taken place. The girl who had been so broken some time ago now felt as if new life had been breathed into her. Sid saw her blushing and smiled, surprised at himself and the way Riddhima had responded. He lifted her chin so that their eyes locked again. There weren't two people more in love since the beginning of time.
"Riddhima," he finally said in a low voice. "I don't want to go back to the party. I mean hamare kapde to dekho!"
Not breaking their gaze, Riddhima responded, "To mujhe ghar drop kar do ge? Please?"
Sid chuckled, "Haan haan why not."
Saying this, he lifted Riddhima up in his arms easily, almost hugging her to his body. Feeling a bit out of breath, Riddhima protested, "Sid, I can walk!"
"In these shoes? I don't think so!" said Sid, referring to her high heels, starting to walk towards the parking area.
Before they left the clearing, though, Riddhima put both arms around his neck again, and pulled his face close for another kiss, right there in the pouring rain. And of course, Sid responded with all the passion of raging fire.
Perfect couple? I think so 😉

Oh God, I just realised! n twilight, it's the thirteenth chapter in which Edward and Bella admit they love each other. (Edward's meadow, anyone?) AND, OMG, MY CONFESSION SCENE IS ALSO THE THIRTEENTH CHAPTER! AAAAHHH 😲
