Chapter 65: What's Love Got to do with it? – Part 6

The phone rang just then, forcing him out of the maze of his thoughts. Thalia also appeared startled at the intrusion.

"Hello?" he answered.

There was a pause before the answer came through.

"This is… Shaan."

"Shaan? You are here already? Great. Come on up. We are in roo…" he didn't get to finish his sentence before Thalia took the phone from him.

"Shash… Shaan." She looked up at Shiv before continuing, "Don't come up. I will come down." She listened for a second and then interrupted. "No! Don't come up! I will come down. I will be down in a second."

Shiv took the phone from her then, returning the favor of all the interrupting that she has been freely dishing out.

"Listen Shaan. Let me explain to you what's wrong with Thalia. Because if I have learned anything today, it's that women never tell you the whole truth." She reached for the phone to grab it from him again, but he kept it out of her reach and walked towards a corner of the room.

He hadn't realized how angry he was with Thalia and most importantly, Gauri, until he listened to himself spewing out the most unnecessary information to this virtual stranger on the phone.

"My wife - you don't know her and believe me, you don't want to - has very kindly plied your friend here – although I have a feeling that she might be more than just a friend to you if she is calling you in her state – with quite a lethal aphrodisiac. Let's not even go into why this was all done in the first place, but let me give you a piece of advice mate, never ever get married. Especially if you are in love with the witch. Because I guarantee you, she will manage to abuse the knowledge and find a way to take a machete and whack the shit out of your heart and not even blink an eye while doing it. But I digress. This is not about the witch I married, this is about your friend Thalia who has just had the life-altering realization that she is not nearly as interested in seducing me as she had originally thought. Instead, the girl calls you as soon as she starts feeling the effects of the witch's brew. So, I am going to take a wild guess here and inform you that you are in for one hell of a night. She has had this thing in her system for about 2 hours now. So, you will have a very aroused woman on your hands for about six more hours. And I mean aroused… as in she is going to be practically insatiable! I hope to God that you are up for the task." He paused to take a breath. "Well, that's the long and the short of my speech, Shaan. Too bad Thalia is so intent on us not meeting. But I have officially given up any efforts on understanding how a woman's mind works. Godspeed."

He hung up the phone, exhaling deeply. It helped to get all that shit out to someone he didn't know and will likely never meet. Now, he was going to stay in this hotel room until the morning to give his wife exactly what she wanted; confirmation that he was an adulterer through and through.

"What was that?" He heard Thalia ask now, her voice soft.

He gave a mock laugh as he walked towards her. "Just preparing an unsuspecting chap for what lays ahead. If you trust this man enough to call him in your time of…" he paused for a moment, "… need, then I can guarantee you, you will be ripping his clothes off in about an hour. I am sure my wife conveniently skipped the details of how her jadoo pani works – how your libido will be on a steady rise for the next six hours. So, after all the clothes-ripping Thalia, you are going to beg this man to take you… beg him… or if you are like my wife, demand him. Order him. Threaten him. Anything to relieve the sexual fervor that's going to make you its slave. I hope to God that you have never had sex with Shaan before. Because only then would the punishment meted out to you be truly poetic!"

"You love Gauri." She said in a quiet whisper, ignoring everything else he said.

His response to her statement was yet another mocking snort. "It doesn't matter anymore Thalia. My wife will get what she wants. But do me a favor. I appreciate your efforts so far, but please don't meddle in our marriage anymore. I think you have helped enough."

"I am sorry…" she said now, looking down.

"Not as sorry as I am…" he turned away from her and walked towards the bed.

"Please close the door behind you, Thalia. I find that I have no interest in going back home right now. So, I think I will keep this room for tonight."

"Shiv…" she started, but he held up a hand to stop her.

"Please Thalia. Leave me alone. I am really tired."

She didn't say anymore as she stood there to watch him for a few more moments.

"You are a much better man that I thought Shiv."

And then she unlocked the door and walked out of the room, gently closing the door behind her.
