Chapter 1: A day to Forget
He walked through the same doors as he had yesterday. Today, was a Saturday night the last day of the week to get high and for most men and some women satisfy their physical pleasures.
He smirked running a hand through his glossy hair and remembered the night yesterday. The girl who had been all over him-literally.
"That was a heck load of fun!!" he whistled to himself before he went and sat on the same spot.
"Can I have the usual?" he said controlling his laughter.
She gave him a cold look.
He shrugged.
After a few minutes she came back with his usual. He looked at the beverage and nodded in denial while closing his eyes.
She saw his dark thick lashes shadow his face despite the darkness of the environment.
"Any problem?" she asked still with attitude.
"Yeah'(he scratched his chin)'''.Oh wait!! I forgot you're new'.no worries. Listen I take a scotch on Fridays and on Saturdays I take a French Vanilla Cappuccino with whisky" he said ignoring her rising temper.
He now looked up at her smirking.
"Listen Prince of Whales!! Over 600 people are in this room right now the other 600 are on the top floor. Sorry to break it to ya, but I don't have the art of remembering each and everyone's drink!!"
He sighed.
"But I'm not saying that am I? I am telling you mine whereas I'm sure all the others just tell you what they want'." he said sweetly.
She ran a frustrated hand through her hair.
"What makes you so special?" she asked sternly.
"I am Maan Singh Khurana everything about me shouts special" he said poudly.
"Oh boy your special-but a different kind!" she laughed to herself.
"Besides, if Sam can remember so can you'and what difference will it make if you remember only 2 drink names? You are a bartender you should know your products!" he said being all smart and witty.
"a) I am not Sam
b) I have problems of my own and I don't want to waste my valuable hectic time on you! So next time just spit out what you want!!" she said shouting.
"Well now you know and now can you go and get my drink because all this talking has made me thirsty" he said touching his throat.
Her mouth fell open to his cool and calm attitude.
After a minute she slammed the drink on the table while glaring at him. He saw her turn back her ponytail slamming against her shoulders because of her stiffened attitude.
"Hey, be careful don't do that because if you slam the drink on the table the glass will shatter and if the glass shatters the drink will spill and then you will have to get me a new glass and a new drink" he said softly lost in the deep meaning of those words.
She took that in a total different context and sadness shadowed over her face.
"Okay" she said plainly.
He looked up at her, back, now out of his thoughts.
After the night she put her coat on and stepped outside the door into the back employee entrance of Club 99. The most popular club in Chicago, Illinois. Gently she brought her ponytail to one side. As she walked a few more steps she heard noises. She went over to the parking lot where the noises came from.
She saw two people so engrossed in each other full on making out. She just turned away. This type of thing was nothing compared to what she saw on a daily basis. After all, she did work in a club!
She then suddenly turned back.
"I knew it!" she said. The man was none other than Maan with a brown haired girl who was wearing a short sparkly tunic dress.
As she turned nodding in disgust she heard him call her.
"Hey!" he ran towards her.
"What?" she growled as she saw him now next to her.
"Spying on people isn't a good habit" he said smugly.
She turned to look at him. She now stopped walking.
"Spying!? Puh-lease! Well, maybe you should go home and have your little saliva sharing session!!" she said faking a sweet voice.
He cracked up now.
She looked at him in disbelief.
"You men are disgusting! Yesterday you were with some other despo weren't you?" she asked tilting her head to see his face because the street lamp shone right into her eyes.
He looked at her with a smooth expression.
"If you think that way but I didn't force that despo on me! Not my fault!! She couldn't resist me! And wow I thought you had better things to worry over than to pay attention to who I romance" he said amused.
She turned away in frustration.
"And yeah we are going to take our little saliva sharing session home" and with that he was about to walk away when she stopped him.
"Then why did you come here to talk to me?" she shouted.
"FORGOT!!" he shrugged and ran to his car where it seemed as if the girl was sleeping on the seat.
That was his way of temporarily forgetting his problems-that is for one night.
She got home showered and quickly stuffed an Advil into her mouth then made some instant noodles and sat down to eat them.
She turned her laptop on and started to listen to some songs.
Despite her problems she had always found music to be relaxing and soothing. It made her jump into an imaginary world of her own.
The man in her image would carry her and spin her around. The whole hallway leading to their room was cover with creamy white organza curtains. The wind blowing the curtains over her cheeks then to her lips. He would lean closer and then-
"Stop it Geet!! Why are you painting dreams when you know they'll be washed away" she said aloud.
This always happened her imagination would take over her sometimes. Exactly what times she didn't know. Those moments would just be as if she had lost control and her heart would keep telling her that she could once in a while could dream''
He was busy wrapped his head wrapped in Rachael's silky strands''
Tomorrow was a Sunday a day that she fixed the house and did all her chores. She mailed the money she earned back home. And got ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow, she worked at Divine a very elegant and expensive Indian restaurant.
