Chap 3

A New Beginning or The End

' Bhayiya, what are doing..!!? I want the golden curtains not magenta one.' A woman in fifties screeched. Her nervousness and tension was easily visible on her face. She turned back to give a final glance to the hall.

The hall was looking immensely beautiful with the stairs encircled with beautiful blue lights. The whole Bhushan Mansion was decorated with seasonable orchids and roses. A pair of golden and red curtain were hanging, giving the whole house a different glow. She walked on the soft maroon carpet and fell on the nearby sofa exhausted as she had a hard time decorating such a big house.

' Bui…!!' A shrill voice spoke and lifted her head to saw a girl with a French ponytail running towards her and a man with extra-ordinary looks followed her smiling.

' Nupur Beta, how are you..!?' Bui spoke, as she greeted them with a warm smile. Nupur was as vibrant as she was before her and Mayank marriage.

She smiled as she remembered the day when Mayank came to see Nupur. Poor Mayank, he didn't even knew which havoc was going to enter his life. Mayank is indeed a good guy…nupur is so lucky to have him. I wish the boy who is coming to see Gunjan turns out like him.Bui hugged Nupur while Mayank seated himself comfortably on the sofa beside him.

' Bui, where is Gunjan..!? I haven't met her for so many days By God.' Nupur chirped as she ran her eyes throughout the hall in search of Gunjan.

' Gunjan is upstairs Beta and please--' before Bui could complete her sentence Nupur hurried towards Gunjan's room.

' Hey Bhagwan…ye larki naa…anyways Mayank Beta, how is your work going on…!!?' Bui spoke, shifting her attention towards Mayank who sat silently.

' Everything is going fine Bui.' Mayank spoke smiling.

' I wonder how are you getting up with Nupur so well…!?' Bui stated amazed.

Mayank grinned inwardly. Bui, then, narrated the incident that how once Nupur put the whole house on fire. The conversation proceeded as Mayank and Bui talked about few random things.

In Gunjan's Room

A girl sat on bed crying badly. Tears escaped from her chocolate-brown eyes. She fell on the floor sobbing wildly as she glanced at the photograph in her hand. It was a photograph of a young fair boy smiling widely. She touched his face as fresh tears made their way through her red swollen eyes.

She jerked as she heard someone's footsteps and wiped her tears. She quickly sat on her bed and hid the photograph under her pillow. Nupur stepped in her room and walked towards a young, fair and fragile body.

' By god Gunjan I can't believe that you getting married to a NRI…that would be so much fun…I have heard that he is very rich…Oh my gosh Gunjan…If you marry him…then you can shop till death…I am so HAPPY for you…' Nupur kept on speaking. Her excitement was clearly written on her face. She sat beside Gunjan but she hadn't saw Gunjan face as her back was facing Nupur.

' By god Gunjan…you have grown so weak…I have told you--' Nupur declared but stopped abruptly as Gunjan broke into hesitant sobs. Nupur facial expression changed as she held Gunjan's shoulders so she could face her. She had grown weak and her eyes were blood red and swollen. She presumed that she hadn't slept for days and had cried a lot.

' By god Gunjan...!! every girl has to leave her house one day…' Nupur spoke, comforting Gunjan. Gunjan lifted her head and within few seconds she broke into tears.

' Its not like that Di…It is about Rannvijay…I..I lovee him…Di…' Gunjan spoke between her never-ending sobs.

' By God Gunjan…have you lost your brain..!!? Why don't you understand Gunjan….he betrayed you…he had NEVER loved you…all he wanted was our property and money…' Nupur argued back as she saw her sister's never-ending tears running down her pink cheeks.

' No Di…you all misunderstood HIM…Di…please give him an another chance…please…' Gunjan spoke, her eyes pleaded for one last chance. This time Rannvijay would prove that he wasn't like the person they all thought he is. He wasn't that bad.

' Why didn't Gunjan understand the fact that Rannvijay never loved her…that bloody moron just wanted money, money and money…money was the only reason that he faked that he loved you…Gunjan you are too innocent to understand all these things…trust me Gunjan…that's why Bauji didn't give your hand to that psychopath--'

' No Di… Bauji didn't give my hand to Rannvijay because he was from an other caste and he wasn't rich afterall…' Gunjan snapped back.

' Whatever it is…but the fact is that he is going to marry some Angelina and he has left for London…so Gunjan there is no gain on crying on spilt milk…its better you understand this as early as possible…just forget that ******…' Nupur shot back, as she held Gunjan by her shoulders. Gunjan stared back as she heard Nupur's each word carefully.

' Gunjan, you are starting a NEW life…a boy is coming to see you…you can't cheat him by crying your eyes out for that bloody Rannvijay…and love…maybe Gunjan…you will also find love after your marriage like I did…do you remember Gunjan…that first I had also denied to meet Mayank because I was waiting for my Raj…my prince charming…I always wanted to do a Love marriage…but I ended in an arranged marriage…I had also burned my wedding gown on my wedding night to prevent my marriage…BUT Fate has set it all…I landed in being love with Mayank after my marriage…Maybe you and that boy are ought to be together…Maybe you fall in love with THAT guy after your marriage…Please Gunjan understand…' Nupur emphasized her each word, ensuring that Gunjan heard her right.

' No Di…I will never be able to give LOVE to that guy…I will never be happy with that guy…I will never be able to LOVE him…' Gunjan replied back, staring straight into Nupur's eyes.

' Gunjan…believe it or not…this is YOUR destiny…' Nupur retorted. She was fed up of Gunjan's crying over Rannvijay…Rannvijay didn't deserve her. Tears dwelled in Gunjan's eyes again as Nupur's heart ached.

' Gunjan, If you don't want to marry that guy then its okay BUT please meet him once…please give him one chance…' Nupur spoke calmly as she rested her hands on her in a consoling manner.

'' Gunjan ought to understand it…she is starting a new life with someone…and I can't let that bloody Rannvijay destroy my sister's life…If I ever saw Rannvijay again, I would seriously kill him that very moment…It's all because of him…'' thought Nupur.

' Okay Di…But promise me that you won't persuade me to Marry that guy…' Gunjan said, with a hint disappointment in her voice. Nupur nodded positively as she wiped her tears.

' Gunjan that guy would be coming anytime…you should get ready…' Nupur said as she headed to Gunjan cupboard shuffling her clothes.

' Gunjan…I think you should wear this…you look awesome in it…' Nupur chirped holding a bright blue saree with heavy work all over it while Gunjan picked a white elegant anarkali suit with thick golden lining.

' Di…I want to wear this…' Gunjan said staring at her choice.

' But Gunjan…its so simple--' Nupur protested back.

' Di…I like to be simple and--' But before Gunjan could speak she was cut in between by Nupur.

' FINE GUNJAN…I understood it…Now go and get ready…' Nupur said grinning. Gunjan smiled back at Nupur and proceeded to the washroom to change.

Meanwhile at Rajasansi Airport

Amritsar

Samrat's POV

" We hope that you had a happy and safe journey. We, hereby, welcome you to Amritsar-The holy city. Hope you enjoy here--" a voice echoed in the Rajasansi International Airport.

' Atlast Samrat Shergill you have reached India.....' I spoke to myself smirking. I ran my eyes throughout the Airport. It was huge and well organized. India has developed a lot during these past few decades But the truth was India could never match America. America is America…everything about America is perfect…its freedom…its lifestyle…everything.

I glanced out of the airport and saw beggars and small children begging. The same old story of poverty, ignorance and hunger. I really wonder sometimes why people live here…!!?

' Oh my Gosh…India has progressed so much…!!' I spoke sarcastically, indirectly pointing to the scene outside. I turned to see Nehwal's expression as he was really damn possessive about his country. It would be fun to watch Nehwal's red, bloated and angry face BUT instead of anger his face carried a peaceful smile.

' Yeah, India has changed so much…Oh..!! It feels so much bliss to be back to your own motherland…' Nehwal replied as bent down and took some dust in his hands.

I stepped out of the Airport with Nehwal and Ralph. I glanced at Nehwal's serious face but all of a sudden a smile broke on his face. I looked at the direction he was staring and saw a fifties year old man smiling widely at us.

He came towards us smiling wholeheartedly and hugged Nehwal. I presumed that he was Shashi Bhushan. Nehwal has talked about him few times but I have never seen him.

' Heyy Samrat Beta…you have grown so much…how are you…!?' Mr. Bhushan asked, staring at me.

' I am fine uncle…' I gave a brief reply.

' Where is Gunjan Shashi…!? You told me that she is coming with you…!!? ' Nehwal said as he threw a glance at me.

'Actually, she had come with me but--' But before Mr. Bhushan could say something a female voice interrupted in between.

' Bauji..' a voice screeched behind me.

I thought her as Gunjan and turned back to see my to-be wife Gunjan. The very moment I saw her I was shocked beyond death. I ran my eyes from her head to her toe. Heck man…!!

I saw a girl dark in complexion wearing a tacky and gaudy salwar suit and her hairs oiled. She was smiling as I noticed her braces. I fancy that color drained from my face.

' Oh Gosh......I' ll marry this s**t...and what about my image…Oh god…where the hell I am stuck in…' I thought helplessly.

' Heyy Gunjan, I am Samrat.' I spoke, as gently as possible but she did not respond. She stared me in bewilderment.

' Beta, she is not Gunjan…she is a Chameli…she works in our house…Gunjan has left few minutes before you arrived…' That man spoke laughing. I turned red in embarrassment. But at the same time I mentally thanked god that I was not going to marry that Chameli. I hope that Gunjan would be better than Chameli. I just hope.

' Well, we should now leave for home.' Mr. Bhushan declared as we proceeded to the Bhushan Mansion.
