PARTNERS -An ArTi OS

Shooting had become dreadfully boring and tiring for him. He had no real friends on sets, and he really missed his wife...oops on-screen wife, off-screen partner in crime. They used to always have such a fun and gala time and her sudden disappearence from the show and his life was way too upsetting.

He was very well aware that not many people were watching the show anymore, and he didn't ask them to, because he too wanted their mission to be a success. He too wanted her back in the show. He couldn't even consider romancing another woman, though he said so otherwise in interviews, under strict supervision of the PH and Cvs. She was his partner, and he would romance only her.

After her dreadful exit from the show, all she did was relax and hang out with her friends and family. Though she really missed the sets and her co-stars, she tried her best not to show it. She missed one person in particular, but tried her best not to show it. He was just a co-star, she remembered.

Her fans were working very hard to bring her back in the show, and she appreciated their hardwork. She seriously had the best fans in the world, she and him.

His thoughts were interrupted when his cell phone rang loud and clear. Jerking back to his senses, he received it and muttered a soft "hello".

"Mr. Arjun Bijlani," a female voice said from the other side. "Am I speaking to Mr. Arjun Bijlani?"

"Yes," Arjun said. "May I know who I'm speaking to?"

"I'm Needa Khan, calling from Colors Channel," Needa said. "Colors channel is having it's annual independence Day celebrations on 25^th July, aka we are shooting on 25^th but it will be telecasted on 15^th August. We would love it if you perform a song on Janmashtami."

"Stage performance?" he asked. "I would love to. Is it a partner dance, or is it a solo dance?"

"Partner dance," Needa said. "It's a Krishna and Radha dance. Sir I have to contact some more people, please do visit our office to know more."

"Okay I will be there tomorrow," Arjun said.

"Thanks," Needa said. "Appreciate it."

How he wished she was his dance partner. Both of them complemented each other so perfectly and he had to admit it, when they got onscreen together, they used to set it on fire. So was their chemistry and togetherness.

She switched on the TV and saw a repeat telecast of her Zee Gold Awards performance. She was excited to do it, but how better it would have been with a certain co-star for a partner. The man she had danced with was not exactly Hrithik Roshan when it came to dancing, and she was unsure whether he would drop her or something. But luckily, he didn't.

If it had been the certain co-star she would dance without any tension or worry, because he would fall himself before dropping her.

Just then her cell phone rang, pulling her out of the thoughts of her co-star.

"Hello am I speaking to Rati Pandey?" a female voice asked.

"Yes, you are," Rati said, smiling.

"I'm Needa Khan from Colors Channel," she introduced herself. "Colors is organizing its annual Independence Function on 25^th July, and we would love it if you perform on Janmashtami special."

"I would love to," Rati said, without thinking.

"Please come to the Colors office tomorrow, we will let you know more of the details," Needa said. "Thanks for your time."

"No problem," Rati said, pressing the END button.

Another stage performance? Wow! She would surely enjoy it. She wondered who her partner was going to be. She wished and prayed that it wouldn't be the Naitik guy.

The next morning, Arjun left his apartment in a faded blue jeans and white t-shirt. He drove to the Colors office, humming the song Sajde kiye maine from Khatta Meetha. The song was always playing on the radio and was stuck in his head.

As he arrived at the office he parked his car and went inside. The whole place was packed with people, except for a two-seat only sofa in which sat a lady reading a newspaper. He went and sat next to her.

His elbows brushed against the lady's next to him and he felt real familiarity. He tilted the newspaper a bit and saw her face.

It was HER! Yes, it was HER HER HER! His on-screen wife, his off-screen partner in crime, his "co-star".

"Rati," he squealed in glee, hugging her.

"Arjun," she said softly, her voice barely audible.

I shivered as I felt the familiar warmth of his hands engulf me. It had been so long since he had hugged her. Only when he hugged her now, did she realize how much she had been missing him. She hugged him back, letting the newspaper falling between them.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, breaking of the hug.

"Oh there is this Independence day celebrations and I've been asked to perform for the Janmashtami segment," she said.

"Janmashtami?" he asked. "Are you kidding me?"

"Why?" she asked. "Anything wrong in that?"

"No ways!" he said, delighted. "In fact it's all RIGHT! I've also been asked to perform for that! Yay we are performing together!"

"Wow that's...surreal," she said. "I didn't think we would be performing together again."

"Neither did I," he said. "But lo...god will find a way."

Both of them were screaming with happiness inside their minds. It was too awesome, too good to be true. What they both had wanted for so long was finally happening. They were going to perform together, that too as Radha and Krishna.

Both Arjun and Rati were on time for their rehearsals. She was dressed in a light purple t-shirt and white slacks. He was dressed in a blue jeans and brown top. After watching their coreographer perform twice, they were ready.

As the song started, both of them started dancing. When at a point where he had to lift her up in the air, she felt butterflies in her stomach as he lifted her off the ground with ease. There was no discomfort or fear whatsoever, just trust...and well love.

After rehearsing for a while, the coreographers went for lunch, while Arjun and Rati sat down on the floor to take rest.

"I'm exhausted," Arjun said. "That was really tiring."

"Yes," Rati said, panting. "But fun."

"Of course it was fun," Arjun said grinning, moving closer to her.

Rati looked at him, paused, and then gave him a soft smile.

"So how are you?" he asked, inching even closer to her.

Just then the song Hey Ya started playing in the loud speaker 🤣

"I've been good," Rati said. "You?"

"So-so," Arjun said. "Have you heard of those ridiculous rumors of me and Neha?"

"Yeah," Rati said, laughing. "And rumors of me and Anas."

"You are not with him are you?" Arjun asked, turning to her.

"No baba, don't you know?" Rati asked. "He's just a friend."

"And Neha is also just a friend," Arjun said. "Why can't those fans of mine understand?"

"Poor you," Rati said. "It hurts when people bash you like that."

"It hurts you?" Arjun asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Of course it does," Rati said. "Why wouldn't it? I know what kind of a person you are. You don't lie. You love your fans."

"And most importantly I love you," Arjun said that.

"You do? Of course you do," Rati said. "I love you too co-star ji. But seriously why do these fans have to pair up everyone with someone or the other?"

"Especially when they love their co-star not old friend," Arjun said.

"Arjun mazak bandh karo!" Rati said. "I'm serious yaar."

"I too am serious," Arjun said, facing her. "I love you, I love you, I love you."

"Arjun-"

"Rati-"

"Arjun-"

"Rati"

"I love you too," Rati said, hugging him. "I missed you so much man! So much! I had no idea WHY?! Especially since you were just a certain co-star. Why did I miss you more than anyone else? I guess it's because I was madly in love with you."

"Was?" Arjun said. "You don't love me now?"

"Of course I do," Rati said. "I love you."

"I love you too,"Arjun said. "And I'm serious, no kidding here."

"I know," Rati said, giggling.

After hugging for what seemed like an eternity, they broke off. Touching their foreheads, they smiled in unison, tears of happiness forming in their eyes.

"So...partners?" Arjun asked, chuckling.

"Partners," Rati said, smiling widely.
