She is Arman's grand mother. She is funny, cheerful, inspirative, wise and full of courage. Sumer Malik, Narendra Malik and Sanyukta are her children. Her elder son is Sumer Malik who handles their family business at bombay. Narendra Malik is Arman's father and a well known Cardiologist in New york since many years. Sanyukta got married to an industrialist in Delhi and lives there.

Sandra Elizabeth Martines: Arman's Mother. She died when Arman was 10 years old. Arman was so strongly attached to her.
Sumati Malik: Arman's Step Mother. She is very loving and caring lady. She has brought up Arman after her mother's death. She loves him like her own son. Minnie is her daughter. She is a daughter of family friends of Maliks family.
MInnie Malik: Araman' s little sister. She is charming, bubbly and intelligent. She is studying in school. She adores Arman alot and he is like a superman for her. She share a real strong bond with Arman.

Where is this girl? We are getting late and she is taking too much time! what I should do with her? Padama was murmuring while arranging plate with diya and flowers.
Calm down padma, she is getting ready, and we still have lot of time. we will reach in time, don't worry! Shashank try to calm her down!
Riddhima hurry up beta! Apperantly nothing is going to calm her right now, shashank thaught.
Coming ma '.. riddhima shouted from upstairs. Just give me one minute. She just roughly combs her hair and tie up high in poni tail. Ok I m ready to leave now!
Riddhimaaaaa''. Padma shouted again and stoped in a way as riddhima was standing right there hugging her father!
Riddhima , come on we do not have time , we have to leave , we are getting late'. So much to do, now come on here and stand strait,
riddhima looked at shashank and give him a naughty smile and both father and daughter share laugh.

Padma apply tika to her forhead and do aarti and than took something in her hands and give circles over her head and throw it out side.

Padma stop it, she is not kid, she is my brave bachha, she ll take care of herself and also she is not alone at all, anjali is there for her.
I know anjali is there for her but '.. this is for the first time she is leaving us! I do not know after how much time I ll get chance to see her again. I m going to miss her a lot.

Shashank smiled and just glare her lovingly! Shashnk has two daughter, elder anjali and younger riddhima! Padma and shashank loved them both a lot, but riddhima holds more special love for shashank. Shashank 's family was very poor at the time he weds with padma, they both were doing jobs to meet requirements.
After 2 years of marriage anjali born, they were very happy but that happiness also brings more responsibilities to their life. Shashank was looking for good job but luck was not with them! After 2 years riddhima born as an angel to their life! Shashank got a very good job and within 5 years he became ceo of the company. Anjali and riddhima growing up and good luck seems to be around with riddhima all the time! today shashank has own his own multinational companies and is one of the top industrialist of the india. He truly belives that all the wealth and happiness in their life is due to the good luck of riddhima, he gave all the credit to her good soul. He loves her a lot and if its in his hands than he would never ever let riddhima go to usa after anjali.
Anjali decided to go to usa for higher studies two years back and he was happy with her decisions, but to send riddhima away was something not possible for him!
Padma was crying by now but it was him who is really crying from inside, if he can he would never let riddhima go away from his eyes. But riddhima wants to study further in usa and so how he can refuse her!
There is an announcement for passangers for the usa flight.

She checked in and wave them for the last time! I know papa you are going to miss me a lot, even I don't want to go away from you but I have to go, and I cant tell you why!
Part 2
She goes to the terminal and find a cozy seat in a corner. She took out a photo from her purse.
Staring at the photo of her and a handsome guy she felt that she s going to cry now. feeling tightness in her chest.
'why did you do this to me? Don't you had trust on me , or you don't have trust on my love? You left me without saying a word! You did not even think for a second that what might have happen to me? What ever your limitations are, but you are bound to answer me! And I am going to see you soon and ask you why you left like that? After that if u don't want to see me again, I don't care, but I need answer of pain you have given me!'
Dhadammmmmm! She comes out of her self talking with the sudden noise and she turns in the direction of that, one elderly lady, around her 80s, just dropped her handbag on the stairs and was having difficulty in managing everything.
Riddhima put her photo back and quickly go to her and helped her to walk to the seats while having her laguage in other hands.

Yes I m going to usa to see my family. My name is KD.
KD? Strange name she thaught, 'my name is riddhima gupta', I m also going usa.
Kamalvati devi , that is my real name , but it s so long and youngsters like you might think its old fashioned and KD is just happening u know! That is what my grand daughter called me. She born there in usa and so she really cannot speak that much long name!
Riddhima was surprised the way she was talking, even the lady seems much older but still she talks to her like a friend.
Riddhima just laughs and told her, 'but I like kamlavati devi better than KD'.
There is an announcement 'Passangers for the flight 1560, please keep their boarding pass in their hand, we are going to board in 5 minutes'.
Ok its time! lets go! Riddhima helped her to get in the plane and helped her find her seat and with the laguage. She finds her seat and settled down. There was no one in the seat next to her and she was looking out side to her window. Plane take off and within minutes its playing with the sky.
It is so beautiful, I feel like I ' she stopped in the middle when heard somebody talking to her.
'You want to fly! I too feel the same way'
She turned around and saw KD is sitting there next to her.
'You here?'
'I was getting bored there! I saw that you are sitting alone so I came here.
So why are you going to usa beta?
I m going for higher studies, my sister is there studying her MBA. I am going to boston. What about you dadi? Where are you going?
KD was surprise and looked at her, 'she just called me dadi? No body called her dadi till now, she has grand sons and daughters and they have given her so many different names, everybody calles her differently, like granny, grand ma, and ammy call her darling and sweetheart and what not! But dadi, for the first time someone is calling her dadi , it sounds so sweet and feels so right. She suddenly feels so much love in her heart for this unknown girl! '
'Riddhima was thinking at the same time ' what did you do riddhima, She might do not like that I have call her dadi, I should not call her that way, kabhi bhi kuch bhi bol deti hai tu'
Ummmm, sorry I ll call you something else!
KD comes out of her thaughts by her words' oh no no beta, you always call me dadi from now, its just no body has called me dadi till now!
Now it was turn for riddhima to be surprise.
she asked in little disbelief 'you have so many grand daughter and sons and no one have called you dadi till now?'
Yes no one till now, for them I m granny or grand ma, or darling! So many names but not dadi! I missed to hear it. she sighed!
Well kamalavati devi , sounds like name of some ancient queen! Riddhima chukles.

Riddhima was shocked and she looked at her in surprise! Now that she observer that she does have that royal glow in her look and dressings and that antic jewelry she was wearing.
She was speechless. Again started cursing her self again for opening her big mouth!
KD go on talking : Well my father was a king of pithora and I married to king of sanganer when I was 18. But after the independence everything got changed. raj gaye rajvade gaye! And we also moved to Bombay, my younger son moved to usa and elder son is staying here taking care of our business in Bombay! And I m travelling back and forth between my both sons.
So do you have palace, like a real palace? Riddhima was asking in low tone, she was conscious now and try to behave her self! She was a queen , what if not now, but she was sometimes ago!
Ofcourse we have a palace there, but its more tourist place now! its very big and its maintenance is also cost a lot, our manager handles it there.
Riddima was overwhelmed by the idea palace and real kings and queens!
KD can very well figure out from riddhima's face that she is being conscious now and not talking freely as she was doing in the beginning. So she told her but I m dadi for you, now onwards! You are just like my grand daughter minie.
This removes riddhima's all hesitations and she feels touched by her gesture.
They chat a lot in whole journey. Dadi finds riddhima very sweet and innocent girl, she instantly feels bonding with her, just like her own grand daughter. And riddhima also find her loving and funny! Just like her own grand mother! They do not realize that how time passes by in their chatting. Riddhima told her everything about her college, parents, family and friends.
They landed at the New York airport. Riddhima helped dadi get her luggage, she fined her own and they were waiting now.
Who is going to pick u up?
My di, and she find anjali same time getting out of her car. Here she is' riddhima shouts and waved to anjali!
Anjali just spotted her waiting outside and just rush to her, they hugged each other.
I missed you so much riddhu, I m so happy u r here! How was you trip? Are you tired?
I missed you too dids! Too many questions at a time! riddhima replied while still hugging her.
Anjali was always fun loving, carefree and boyish type, however carefree she is, she loves riddhima a lot, cares for her so much that sometimes she became overprotective. She is in USA since 3 years and doing her MBA. She lives in boston in university campus.
Ok lets go, let me get your bags. Anjali took her luggage and riddhima walked towards dadi.
KD was observing their little conversation.
Dadi, nobody came yet to pick you up? I can wait till someone comes.
Beta don't worry, you go ahead, I am sure they are on the way and they will be reaching here anytime.
No dadi but what if they do not come to pick you up, I am waiting here with you!
KD and riddhima's argument went for minutes when dadi spotted Minnie. She waved at her, Minnie was already running towards her while crossing the road!
GRANNYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You here finally, I missed you so much! I love you granny! Minnie shouted excitedly while hugging KD tightly!
Ok , ok , Minnie, now leave me, what have you sprayed in your clothes? It is making me sneezing!
Minnie instantly moved back and make a face and retorted, granny, you are old , you don't know fashion, this is nice perfume!
'nice perfume' Dadi mocked her! And laughed.
Riddhima who was standing there laughing really hard and was observing them. She did not know that even after so much of age gap how they both are sharing so much fun and love together!
KD introduce riddhima to Minnie. Minnie who did not notice riddhima till now, was little embarrsed about the fact that she was behaving as a crazy girl without noticing that there was someone actually standing with granny and looking at her.
KD asked Minnie, ' did you come alone?'
'Nope granny, I cant drive this far you know that, I m still 16, I came with bro, he went to park it, he will be here any moment' and she looked back at the road and show he is coming! 'there you go granny, he is there , coming ! '
Riddhima looked there but could not see anyone as one car just blocked the view on the road.
Riddhima '''. Anjali was calling her from the car, she already had managed her luggage in the back and now waving her to do hurry up!
Riddhima bent and took blessing from KD and told ' dadi, take care of your self, and take drugs at time, I don't know when I will see you now, but I will surely come to meet you, here is the number of my anjali di cellphone, call me anytime, ok.'
KD kissed her forhead and told her to take care.
Riddhima waved Minnie and dadi bye from the car!
Both KD and riddhima was feeling little sad, it seems like they have some unknown strong bond, holding each other tight. KD was thinking that do not know when I will see you again riddhima, I feel like keep you forever with me!
Neither riddhima, nor KD knows that they are going to see each other very soon!

KD was looking at the car in which Riddhima was going when someone come from behind and hugged her 'Hi darling, I am here, why are you looking there?''
KD turns and sees a young handsome boy standing there in front of her. He is tall almost six inches with wide shoulder. White tees sticking to his chest revealing his well masculine body. Blue eyes making him look out of the world. He has the most charming smile, which is capable to left anyone mesmerized.
'Hey darling what are you looking at?' Araman holds her from shoulders and asked.
'I know you must want to know the secret that how I manage to look so cool? you know I am born cool darling! Araman told and see smile on KD's face which is growing bigger and bigger with the every statement of his.
KD smiled 'Araman, you will not change, you are just as same as you were 2 years back' hugged him tightly.
'I missed you a lot darling, I really do' Araman told her on the way back to his car.
They got into car, mini sit in the back seat and KD sits beside Araman.He start driving back home. He turn on the radio and there is some hiphop song playing on it, araman increase the volume 'I love this song'
KD turns down the volume and said 'Ammy, is this song? Its total noise. What happens to your choice?'
'Hey Darling don't tell a word about my choice ok, you are my choice, you are my first girlfriend'. Araman chuckles and reply her.
'Hann, I was your first girl friend and last too' isn't it?'
Minnie who was enjoying the cat mouse game of theirs till now, jumps in between and told, 'Granny you don't know how many girls are crazy about bro! Once he came to drop me at my school, and after than list of my friends increase like indian population and all the girls want me to introduce them to bro! Can u believe it granny! But bro, he is not at all interested in any of them.'
' Minnie, Not again, how many times I told you that they are all kids for me' said Araman little irritated!

KD try to take a chance to convinces him to get married, which she was doing unsuccessfully since last 3 years. She tried harder and harder day by day because she knows that he needs someone in his life who loves him truly and make him believes in love. He wants a girl who heals his all wounds with the care and love. He really needs to be with someone who understands him and be with him for the entire life.
'What a girlfriend you are? You are telling me to betray you.' Araman looked at KD and laughed, he want to divert the topic desparately.

KD look at araman, his face was covered with pain and sadness with her statement, she cursed herself mentally for bringing up topic of death!
'How can I do this, I know how much he get disturbed when someone talks about death, it seems like he had never come out totally from his bitter past'
Nobody speaks on the rest of the way back to home, KD was cursing herself constantly for hurting ammy while araman was thinking and cursing god for everything happened to him.
Minnie hate to be silent but she knows very well that if bro is disturb than it is better to zip up her mouth.

Riddhima was settled in the back seat of a car and as they started.
'So Riddhu how was the journey? Did you find everything all right there?' Anjali turn back and asked Riddhima who was looking out of the window for someone!
'Riddhu! Hellooooooooo! I am talking to you' Anjali get little irritated as she saw that Riddhima was not at all paying any attention.
' Oh I am sorry dids, I was just looking for....., Forget it, tell me what are you telling me ' and give Anjali her cute smile..
' I was asking how your journey was. You do not have any idea how much I missed you and mumma and papa. Now you are here so it will be so much fun!' By the way, how is mom? Sometimes I miss her food especially when this dumbo cooked something', Anjali smiled while punching on a person's shoulder that is driving car.
That was the time when Riddhima registered the fact that they are not alone in the car but there was also a person who is driving.
" Oh dids, Journey was fine, I enjoyed a lot!"
Anajli stared at her in little disbelief and asked "Are you the same riddhima? Who has never liked so long journey? Wait wait' you said you enjoy it riddhu, I got it now! tell me who was the poor guy who listen to your crazy talk?"
" Dids , come on, no guy was there, I actually meet one nice old lady, and you know she was actually a queen of her times,she was so so so nice, we talked a lot. I felt like I meet my own grandmother! "Said riddhima little enthusiastically.
" See, I am right riddhima, you got someone to torcher in your journey that is why you enjoy it! I was right! "
'Anjali , aren't you like this too! You want everyone to listen to you when you are talking!' said the person who was driving
Riddhima chukled and replied 'That's right , dids is like that, it seems that you have known her very well!"
"Oh Riddhima I totally forgot to introduce you to Atul ".. Anjali said little embarrased.
" No problem anjali, I introduce my self! " Atul smiled at her and looked back to Riddhima.
'Hi atul, Finally I meet you, heard a lot about you from dids ".
"Oh really? Than tell me achha ya bura? Kya suna hai? " Asked atul curiously while looking at Anjali in his side seat.
"Well till now it's good, and even if its bad I know how hard it is to handle wild animals! You are with her since 3 years so I have full sympathy for you!"
They both laugh hard and anjali make face at them both.
Riddhima was observing Atul closely while talking with them on her way."He seems a good guy and also looks like he knows dids very well! " She tought.
Atul came from India 3 years back,doing his MBA with Anjali. He is very innocent person with good heart. He and Anjali are very good friends despite the fact that they are both like North Pole and South Pole. They are neighbours in the campus.
'Riddhu, wake up, we are here!' Anjali try to wake her up. It was night by the time they reach boston.
'oh, dids, we reached already, I think I sleep a lot, I did not know when I got sleep' Riddhima told her while still feeling sleepy. She was looking around to get to know the place where she is going to live now.
There apartment complexes are situated in between small hills. Their college is from walking distance from there. Two complexes located in V shape. Each apartment has two floors. Most of the students stayed there. They have small garden behind the apartment with a small Tennis and basket ball court.
"Come on riddhima lets go ", Riddhima started following her, atul was carrying one bag in his hand. They all entered to the second floor of an apartment.
" Riddhima, this is the kitchen, there is bathroom, there are two bedrooms and here is storeroom. I will ask atul to put your luggage here and now you go and get freshen up, I will do something for dinner. " Anjali familiarize her with the apartment.
" Ok dids ", Riddhima go to the bathroom, got into shower. She felt that all the tiredness of the journey is washing away with the warm water of the shower, but the mental tiredness of her journey from six months is not at all affected by it. All questions are flooding in her mind once again, engulfing her!
I want my answers, now I am here and I know where to start! Come on Riddhima Gupta you have to do it for the peace of your own mind!
She wore a night gown and come out of the bathroom.
Anjali was arranging the plates on the table. She looked at riddhima and told her, "Riddhu, food will be here any minute, are you hungry? "
'No dids, I am not hungry, you can take your time'
'ummm, dids can I get your cell phone, I need to make some calls'
" Its there on the table , go and take it." Anjali pointed at the cell phone. 'Hey Riddhu, that reminds me that we have to call mom too that your little princess is safe and reached to her realm, she must be waiting there"
"Ya dids, will call home for sure once I am done " Riddhima took out the number from her purse and dialed .
'Hello, Can I talk to Divya, Oh is that you? Riddhima here, how are you?' riddhima started talking to her. Divya was her friend from medical college in india. They were all part of a group. Divya got married to a doctor in USA and came there few months back.
After some time of chatting, Riddhima asked her 'Divya, did you talk to him?'
There was little silence at the other end than finally she spoke,
'No riddhima, I still not have talk to him, as he has changed his number, but he has recently joined the same hospital where one of my husband's friend is working. I can give you his number in few days'
'Thank you so much divya' Riddhima cannot believe that she is going to talk to him finally in few days.
" Riddhima, I am doing all this because you insisted so much, but still I am telling you one more time that please stop all this and forget everything what was there in the past, he is not the right person for you'
' Divya, I do not know why am I doing this, I will stop it once I got all the satisfactory answers to my questions, and till than I cant sleep well'
'what answers riddhima, with whom are you talking?" Anjali came from behind and asked her.
Riddhima jumped like someone has caught her red handed from doing something wrong. 'Nothing dids, I am just talking to an old friend here'
'well Riddhu food is there, now come, lets eat"
'Coming dids, just gimme five minutes'
She get back to her phone and told divya ' I know your concern divya, but don't worry, I know what I am doing right now, i assure you that I will take care of myself'
'I know riddhima you will take care of yourself, but I want you to be YOURSELF now, I think the real riddhima has lost somewhere in between the last six months'
'bye divya , I call you later' Riddhima cut the phone and thought ' I also want to be myself divya and that is one of the main reason why I have to do this, I can not live in the middle of nowhere!"

PART 4
It did not surprise him at all, Whenever anybody is going away from him Sumati mom would be the one who cries. But that is little explanatory that she is sad that someone is going away. Somehow he never understand why Sumati mom cries when someone get back home? By now he thinks that this is some kind of old ritual they are doing, meeting and crying together whether you are happy or sad!
'I am going to put this luggage in room' He hurriedly go to the room. He only came down when he heard mini shouting from downstairs for dinner. He can not stand there and see them crying.
Everyone had dinner together and it was late so they dismissed their conversation and went to their rooms.
Arman was standing near the large window. He always feels peace here. he loved standing there and viewing the beautiful huge garden outside. There are all different kinds of plants and flowers growing at the boundary of the garden. Left corner of the garden occupied by a small artificial fall. The running water of the fall gathered in a small oval shaped lake. Few ducks are lazily swimming in it. They were living in the lake for many years.They were little and few when Arman mom brought them. There are 4 white chairs and a table set few inches away from the lake. the other corner has 3 old swings for children. He stared at it and felt something twitched inside, may be pain as old memory is trying surface up.
'I missed you mom, why did you left me? staring blankly in the pitch black sky.
'lets go'. He muttered slowly.
She was still giving him a demanding look. Arman looked down at the floor and said rather painfully,
Sumati mom has never make me feel that I am not her son, I can bet that she had loved me more deeply than her own daughter. Mini always argued with Sumati Mom about loving me more than her. Sumati mom had brought me up since i was 10 years old. She had hold my hands when my own mom left me. I could not even imagine what I can be if she had not been there in the worst phase of my childhood. She took care of me at every moment and tried best so i did not feel dejected. I can never repay her sacrifices and her love for me. I respects her and care for her more than anything. But even after so many years I somehow failed to think of her as my own mom. I can never replace anyone with my own mom, not even Sumati mom. What ever mom did to me I still love her to death. After all no one can take place of my 'Angel mom''.
' ummmmmmmmm You made it KD?, You are a total sweetheart'' He took one more from the box.
He adjusted himself there. He closed his eyes and now searching for the same love and peace he used to have when he did sleep in his mom's lap. He open his eyes after few time, unsatisfied. The obvious fact that he can not be 10 year old again and lay in his mother's lap anymore make him feel gushing of the pain in his chest. He can never feel that love again! He felt his eyes are getting watery. Something smooth touched his face and he came out of it. It was KD s old fingers but still able to transfer love to him. He lay there silently and hearing her talking.
They chatted about everything. Arman updates her with his current activities and every trivial things. He dont even remember when he fallen asleep.

'Oh its so much time has passes I have seen you attacking like a storm in tennis court, I am so want to see you playing today' She laughed and left Arman puzzled!
