" so whats up? something on your mind? " Armaan asked politely..

" ok here it goes... " Maria took a deep breath... " Armaan i love you !!"

Part 25:

Maria's words were hardly audible.. Atul who was watching some pe-historic cowboy movie was completely unaware of her confession. His eyes constantly blinking as the cowboys shot one another. Infact if Riddhima and Armaan hadnt made eye contact with Maria. they too would not be able to dicipher her words..

Only a few seconds interwined between her confession and the next set of words.. but it felt more like a life time. Every milli-second felt like an hour pass by.. as though the world was moving far too slowly for anything. Riddhima stared with her mouth partially open.. her eyes blinking continously. But somehow.. she had seen this coming.

Armaan's facial expression changed from shock, to disappointment .. to pity. He hadnt imagined Maria confesssing. His life had been undoubtedly comprised of a whole lot of confessions. From college days till this day. Often his employees and those under him had fought to attain his love. It was a constant war with one another to get his attention. Even the slightest acknowlegment by Armaan to someone was deciphered as his interest towards them. They would wear the most skimpiest clothes to make his head turn. Very rarely had Armaan actually turned his attention to any of them. He took his work very seriously. But he had slipped a couple of times when he got over intimidated, but his promise with them... one sexual intercourse..just one night !

But if there was one thing Armaan could never do. Hurt a lady .. his mother had taught him that. he would reject a lady's proposal with utmost care and as gently as he could. Assuring her that it was him who was at fault. perhaps that was one reason why he got far too many proposals than he should.

Now here he was. Stuck in a dillema.. He wasnt sure how Riddhima would handle the situation if he rejected her sweetly. Wouldshe mind if he hugged her? even after she had proposed? How should he put her down without hurting either of them. Riddhima mattered so much to him. Her every thought, expression, and feeling mattered.

Worse... Armaan knew of what Riddhima thought of him... or rather.. HAD thought of him.. but the feelings could always bounce back... He had slept with Maria! He winced at the thought of Riddhima's expression when Maria blurted her confession.

Maria blushed crimson red.. her fingers fidgeted with one another. Her eyes couldnt match either of thier expression. Perhaps Maria doubted herself for blurting it out so suddenly but she had thought over it for the past few days... She couldnt carry on without leaking it. She was sure that Armaan had some idea of her interest. Perhaps he had been waiting for her to make the first move. They had spent a good long time in each others company...She had known him ever since he got the contract for the company, and her interest had never changed.. not even once. It had always remained for Armaan. But probably the thought of her asking Armaan had been a bad idea in the starting and knowing Armaan she knew he did not fall in love. Love was ofcourse out of the question! But for the past few days, She just had to ask him.. It seemed like destiny that armaan had come here... the exact same place that she was in . She couldnt hold it inside any longer. Armaan just had to know. And there was well one way to find out... Confess !

But ofcourse Maria had a sort of dying Wish... she always knew in her heart that armaan was too against love to be with her... but she had only one desire..

For the split second that she had thought about all this and about her wish and when she looked up she could see Armaan's troubled face. She didnt want to dicepher it.. She didnt have it in her heart.

" Wait... Armaan before you say anything... " Maria looked up again.. " i want to just ask you a favour..... i Know that maybe you dont like me the way i do like you... but... my birthday is coming up in 5 days...Im planning to have a party... will you be my date?Just this once.. my birthday wish " Maria asked trying to speak fluent english... it was obvious she had been practising the speech a while..

Armaan continued to stare at her.... " Well.. actually sweety.... i "

" he would love to go.." Riddhima smiled.

WHAT???

Armaan stared at riddhima who urged him with her nods
" yea why not.... why not armaan??? " Riddhima continued

Maria perked up.. A brand new wide smile stitched its way on hers... Her insides probably played havoc at that moment.. it was very easy to see... " Really Armaan? you not mind being my date??? " It was obvious se hadnt practised this bit of her speech

" well.... " Armaan looked at Riddhima one last time.. as he slowly nodded his head... " alright.. " He faintly whispered...

" Oh my god... thank you soo much !! " Maria pounced on Armaan hugging him tightly

" your welcome.. " Armaan patted her softly .. confused as ever... He then turned his attention to Riddhima who was staring at him with a small cheerful smile..

" well any way... thank you armaan... i will meet you guys later... Here's the invitation.. im turning 25 !!!!! " Maria said handing it over.... " all of you please come... "

" ofcourse. " riddhima said as she saw maria leave... hhhhhh

What the hell is Riddhima doing? is she crazy? Why the hell is she letting me be Maria's date? i want to be Riddhima's date.. in everything ! deos she really want to continue to hide this thing? i thought she said she was OK with telling everyone about us... then how come all of a sudden she chickened out?? Did she chiken out/? what is happening?

Armaan continued to stare at riddhima ... He walked towards the kitchen indicating that riddhima should follow him....

As soon as Riddhima sat down she looked back at armaan's face... His look was exactly the one that he had given her in the first night when riddhima had refused to budge and move inside... making him pick her up... the same annoyed and irritated look.

" what? " Riddhima asked acting as though she didnt understand anything

Armaan crossed his hands across his chest... The muscles on his arm pressed against his hard chest. He did not look the least bit amused...

Riddhima stared back at him.. thinking it could ease his mood.

Im waiting... Armaan's eyes said.. not in an all too friendly way.

" Oh come on Armaan... you couldnt say no !! " riddhima defended

Armaan raised his eyebrows ...

" yes i could have !" Armaan sneered throug his teeth...

" oh come on? u would have crushed her ! "

" Riddhima i would have spoken to her politely "

" but she would still be hurt.. and its just a date..."

" baby... " Armaan sighed.." you want me to be her date? your my girlfriend incase you havent realised..not hers"

The sound of the phrase 'my girlfriend' sent warm chills down her spine.. it was pleasant and reassuring. He could have said " Im your boyfriend " but he chose to take her under him... a protective gesture through words.. making her completely his.. a guard through bad times.. a sheild from danger... it had that touch to it.. that gentle caring touch that she loved so much about armaan. ..like as if she was his possession.. his everything. For some reason every sentence he spoke was as though he thought it through. Yet it was so natural.. his charming and thoughtful nature that he always had... She was 'His Grilfriend'..Armaan Maliks Girlfriend..

" but Armaan come on.. she really loves you... its just a birthday... look " riddhima pulled open the invitation and traced the date of the event.. "it says... ummm... oh wait.. "

" oh wait what? "

" its for 2 days... " riddhima rechecked " Hey but come on... its only two days... "

" 2 days? are you kidding me angel?" Armaan asked raising his eyebrow

" look just hang around.. make her day!! come on.. its her birthday gift"Riddhima quoted

" i thought we were going to tell everyone about us being together!! " Armaan asked coldly...

" well we are... " Riddhima defended ... It was obvious armaan was doubting her

" yes.. about what? me and Maria?? I love you.. "

" i know that.. and we will.. just.... just Not Maria... "riddhima looked hesitant

" so your going back on your word? " Armaan irritation returned

" no... no... we will "

" is this ur excuse to postponed it? "

" ofcourse not !! Armaan???"

"well sure sounds like it ! "

"you no what....!! ill prove to you that im not !! im going to tell them... "

" oh really? " Armaan mocked...

" yeah !!" riddhima challenged

"when?"

Riddhima stared at him angrily... " yes i will... im going to tell Rahul.. Muskaan and Atul And thats that... you'll see armaan !! "

" Tell us what??? " A familiar voice came from behind them...

Riddhima and Armaan turned to look behind to see Rahul and Muskaan standing near the entrance of the kitchen... behind them Atul was still watching his cowboy movie..

Riddhima noticed Armaan smile a bit as he settled down beside Riddhima ... his eyes repeated thier question clearly to riddhima

3 against 1 ... this isnt fair !

Through armaan's expressions he made it quite clear that it was Riddhima who was going to reveal everything to thier friends !!

to make it even more difficult to lie.. Armaan clearly stated " Riddhima wants to tell you all something " Apparently he was testing her courage as well..

That no good.... ummm... boyfriend of mine !!! HMPH !...ok crap.... oh please someone help me out.... ok im just going to say it.... i dont care .. im just going to spill it out..... Armaan you cant do this to me !!

Riddhima's eyes pleaded to him.. Armaan winked softly ...

" uh... i... i mean.. look... " Riddhima paused... she couldnt think of Any good way to start... if only Armaan would let her lie this time and then she could have thought of a better speech.. probably research about good 'how to tell ur friends about ur boyfriend' speeches... or take some good quotes from some romantic poet... and then begin the confession to Muskaan nd Rahul...

OH gosh.. what would they think? Would they approve? they might.. but then again.. she would be such a hypocryte... What if Muskaan suddenly turned against the idea of Armaan... maybe that day when riddhima told muskaan all the reasons why she shouldnt go out with Armaan had affected her.... i mean After that day Muskaan had never bothered her about armaan... That had even secretly disappointed Riddhima... She liked the way she was constantly nagging her to talk to him...

Would Muskaan really approve of Muskaan... ofcourse she liked him.. that was obvious.. but did she APPROVE of him being HER boyfriend... Muskaan had HATED her ex boyfriend... She found him boring..un-interesting and an irritating lover... although she did like sumit as an individual person.. just not as Riddhima's boyfriend..

What if RAHUL didnt like the fact that the two of them got together either... what if after they confessed .. then muskaan and Rahul would secretly talk ill about them behind thier back.. or complain constantly... Riddhima a complete innocent, old-school girl.. being paired up by a former playboy type of guy... ??

Riddhima hated the idea of constantly getting the " i dont think he is good enough for you ... he only believes in sex... maybe he is actually using you ... Did you sleep with him... ?"

Worse.. what if she asks how they met... could she constantly keep lying that too to Muskaan??

But then again.. muskaan was her bestfriend and rahul was no less... she loved them to bits and she knew that they loved her as well as armaan!! she knew that they would never defy them or talk ill about them either.... It wasnt like them.. in that case they would be total strangers.... no difference..

sumit was a different issue... for all she knew Muskaan really loved Armaan.. and well Armaan was Rahuls boyfriend..

Besides Armaan was so adamant on telling them... He could make perfect decisions.. no doubt. After all he was single-handedly (almost) running the malik Enterprise... oh and he was about to get an award for the best entrepeneur soon...!
Worse... he affected her ego... he mocked the fact that she wouldnt tell them... ofcourse she knew that Armaan was just doing it to get her to spill the beans... But ego is ego...and she wanted to prove him wrong so badly !!

Armaan get your sorry a** speech ready !!!

"Well?? " Rahul asked.. confused but still waiting in anticipation
Riddhima took a deep breath in... " I dont know how to tell you guys this.. " she turned to Armaan.. who smiled at her.. encouraging her to proceed...

" I-I love Armaan... and we are going out ... " Riddhima spoke with hesitation as she sounded each syllable clearly..

" What? " Muskaan and Rahul both yelled causing Atul to finally turn his attention off the tv and to them
