SEEKING GLORY: The Fame Gurukul finalists
Six Mumbai youngsters are among the 14 who will battle out for the Fame Jodi crown in Sony's new show Fame Gurukul.

The daily show which premieres on June 27 at 8.30 pm is a licensed adaptation of the Spanish reality show, Operacion Triunfo. Produced by Endemol, it has been aired in several countries worldwide.

These 14 singers have been selected from auditions held all over the country. The gurukul is a mansion-cum-dance recording studio.

Candidates also put up their own music-dance shows. Besides professional training by experts from the music industry, there will also be fitness, counselling, grooming (for the X factor) and dance classes.

Cameras will follow the participants' every move, with viewers voting in the two best candidates — the Fame Jodi.

The Fame Jodi will be awarded a recording deal with a leading music company, and a contract worth Rs 1 crore with Sony. Ila Arun is the headmistress of the Fame Gurukul who will put the contestant through the paces.

The jury includes writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar, musician Shankar Mahadevan and singer Kay Kay Menon.
