Celebrity judge - Bipasha
Hit jodi - Rex and Ruprekha
Gurukul students visit Concern India project
Mandira could not make it to the show

TOP STUDENT
Mona - Ab ke sajan sawan mein
The faculty had chosen Mona as the top student because she had won
the faculty over after being put in bottom four. Mona put in her best
for the evening and Bipasha and Shankar were all praises for her.
While K.K felt her high notes needed more attention, Javed felt that
Mona needed to let go and be more flamboyant on stage.

TOP JODI
Rex and Ruprekha - Dil to pagal hai dil deewana hai
They just rocked! Both were able to immerse themselves in their song
and bring out the correct emotions. Bipasha felt that Rex and
Ruprekha exhibited great chemistry on stage. K.K said that it was
clear that both of them were enjoying themselves. Shankar gave them
the top jodi of the evening title and Javed too found them very good.
VERDICT - BOTH ARE SAFE

NO GO
Qazi and Arpita - You are my Sonia
Both Arpita and Qazi were complimented on stage presence and looks.
Bipasha found Qazi good looking and entertaining. Arpita won
accolades even from Javed on presentation. However, K.K found Arpita
too shrill. Shankar felt that Qazi could not bring out the feelings
in the song. The bottom line was that both need to work harder.
VERDICT - JURY PUT BOTH IN THE DANGER ZONE. FACULTY SAVED ARPITA.

THANDA THANDA
Arijit and Gurpreet - Pahela nasha pahela khumah
They just stood and sang. They were low on energy and even in musical
sense. Arijit was nearly put in the danger zone by the jury. Javed
said that Arijit lacked spontaneity. Shankar said that he was not at
his best. For Gurpreet the judges agreed that she needed to enjoy her
singing more.
VERDICT - ARIJIT IS SAFE BUT GURPREET PUT IN THE BOTTOM THREE

PEOPLE'S CHOICE
Anubhav - Tum ko dekha to ya khayal aya
The people had voted Anubhav back to the Gurukul and he proved that
he deserved it. Shankar found him sounding like a mix of Ghulam Ali
and Jagjit Singh. Bipasha and Javed confessed that Anubhav had sung
their favourite song. K.K felt that Anubhav had put a lot of heart in
his song.
VERDICT - ANUBHAV IS SAFE

JUST SHORT
Shamit - Ye jo mohabbat hai
Shamit had selected a very romantic song but just fell short. Bipasha
enjoyed the performance but K.K said musically it was flawed. Javed
said that the song was tough and Shankar agreed.
VERDIT - IN DANGER

FACULTY SAYS
Gurpreet was better in rehearsals
Arijit did not support Gurpreet
Arpita was saved because she is very hard working
Qazi sang well but now the competition is tougher

it be so funny, if arjit was in danger zone n gurpreet in safe zone. I never liked Arjit singing. I think rex or anubhav can win the fame jodi. in girls arpita but i think rooprekha gonna win as she working very hard and judges n faculty loves her singing.

hey gurpreet seems as if she needs some blood... she might be a good singer but not a gud performer, n same is the case with arijit... he is too self-centered.. he does not care wht is happeneing around him. he cares only for himself...

as for shamit .. he is one of the few who give advice to others, n tell them where they lacks... i can never believe shamit who helps others can play politics with his frnds....

As, for me i prefer fame jodi to be Arpita and Shamit!!

After long, I have seen a very solid and sensible message on the board. I totally agree with your analysis, especially about Arijit. This guy has no concern about others whatsoever. Very self centred person indeed. Pardon me for bragging, but I can make out things about ppl, by observing them. Let me tell you some of it:

QAZI: A kid by heart. He is very far from maturity. Putting him on fame platform will ruin this guy;s life, as he has no idea about adulthood, and professionalism.

REX: Try to look kiddish, but is not. Quite self centred. Helpful: Don't think so. Will promise for things and shed tears, but no help.

SHAMIT: A nice person by nature. Very helpful. Amazing singer. Seems more mature than others.

ARIJIT: Very self centred person. Won't give a damn for others. He is like one of those, who think that if they have somthing, they will lose it by sharing. Wil be the first to leave a buring house.

ANUBHAV: OK Singer. Not mature. The way he was interacting with REX (when REX got immunity), one can clearly make out, that he was very very unhappy about it. And do you guys remember he complaining to faculty about why SHMAIT got immunity. C'mon, if you deserve it, try for it, rather then complaining about others. (Who moved my cheese.! huh!!)

ROOPREKHA: Tops in self centred index in girls. Sings well, but is not ready to adapt to new things. Unpleaseing personlaity. It's fun to observe her face, when she waits for verdict from jury.

GURPREET: I will feel drowsy, whilst commenting on her.

ARPITA: Second in self centred index. Didn't like the way she argued heavily (was it scripted?) with Amit. Not a good singer. May get to final because of average good looks, and showing naval in first gala.

MONA: A very nice prson at heart. Mature (with innocent looks). Dedicated to singing. Very humbple person.

U hit the nail on the head,, that is exactly what i had felt from day one but started somehow doubting my own judgement along the road, I loved rex at first then felt something missing, kinda a mean or selfish streak but will try to be a peoples person just to fit in, somehow his eyes dont reflect his facial expressions his smile never touches his eyes , arpita seems to be selfish and singing a bit shrill, could'nt understand why people found her to be so good looking even in saregamapa , she got a special comment on her beauty by jatin lalit.A bit over confident and conceited, has already has alot of exposure so thinks she has an advantage over others, for her amit was someone she was just stuck with, would have been more happy to go solo , maybe thats what was bugging her, somehow i think your potential is more noted in solos and in threesomes kinda gets lost.

Arijit doesnt give a damn about anyone else , shammit again a diplomatic person and peoples person but shrewd, Gurpreet not confident about herself and believes she is in by fluke, probably thinks she has a snowballs chance in hell of winning, Mona sweet and hardworking but can yield to pressure and change her stance, Anubhav jealous and insecure- could'nt stand his cribbing when Rex and shammit for declared immune, Roorekha not very flexible, can be super rude but not bad at heart, Kirti seemed like a nice person but shrewd nevertheless, qazi - a kid at heart- did u see how excited he was when they had to write some lines for a song, helpful and kind but still believes his singing is okay!!!!!!has scruples and alot of regard for his parents teachings. i also dont get good vibes from rexs mom, if u look at other parents they are ok when others perform but rexs mom seems angry always.I think rooprekha is mellowing down, i guess shes realized that'll be the best strategy as of now.

Thanks peacestead!
Somehow, I beg to differ about Shamit. The guy is kind and sweet. His only problem is that he keeps helping and telling others. Even Javed Akhtar pointed out that 'aap jo doosron ko batate hai, wo sahi batate hain'.
Poor fellow, gets hit because of being kind to others.

and your description about Gurpreet hits the bull's eye.

Fame and fortune?
They have no time for family, friends or romance. But the finalists of Sony's Fame Gurukul say it's worth it..
Paromita Chakrabarti
Lucknow, July 31: Rumour has it that he has confessed his love for fellow Gurukul finalist Mona Bhatt to principal Ila Arun, but ask him if romance is brewing backstage, and Anubhav Suman replies with a straight face that now is not the time. ''We are concentrating only on our music now. We don't have time for romance,'' he replies with a straight face. Both Suman and Bhatt, two of the 14 finalists of Sony's Fame Gurukul show, are currently, busy on a promotional tour for the album Fame Gurukul Aasma ke Paar (Sony Music).

It's evident that the two take their selection seriously. ''At Gurukul, I realised it's not enough to be a good singer. You need to have other skills like stage presence and dancing,'' explains Bhatt. Which is where the rigorous training under choreographers Bosky and Caesar and the make-overs by Sameera Akhtar (director Farhan Akhtar's wife) came in.

They also agree that it has paid off. ''Pehle woh (Bosky-Caesar) hum logon ko hilate the, ab hum unko hila dete hain, (Earlier they used to teach us how to move, now we shake them up),'' laughs Suman. All this has come at a price. The finalists have to live with the camera tailing their every move. ''Initially, we used to be very conscious, but now it's alright,'' says Bhatt. A bigger peeve is the fact that they can get in touch with their family just once a month. ''It's actually for our own good, but I miss them badly,'' laments Bhatt. ''We can call in case of emergencies though,'' intervenes Suman. Notwithstanding the recent controversy over the ouster of Kirthi Sagathia, the two Gurukul hopefuls maintain that relations between the contestants are cordial. ''We are like family,'' insists Bhatt even as Suman pipes in, ''There are occasional ego hassles. Recently, we had a problem during a choreography session, but we sorted it out pretty soon.'' That apart, the two agree that they are having a blast. ''The teachers, the judges — they all treat us so well that it's overwhelming. We can approach any of them if we have a problem. This is a chance of a lifetime,'' says Bhatt. And what if they are not among the chosen last two? ''It will still open up avenues for us. People know our names, they have watched us. That's a platform by itself,'' replies Suman.

Express News Service
Indian Idol had the right idea and a host of music-based reality shows are trying hard to recreate the magic. But neither judges nor contestants are impressed. Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge has judges locking horns over which contestant to eliminate, while Sony's Fame Gurukul forces participants to live under one roof, on camera 24x7. Here's what the experts think.

Amit Tandon, Indian Idol finalist
People like simple formats, which is why Idol was so popular—contestants came, they sang. If they were good, the judges let them stay. On Fame Gurukul, things are too complicated with them living together.

Rabbi Shergill, singer-composer
I don't approve of music-based reality shows. It's not really about the star, but about pushing ratings. I feel the winner gets a backdoor entry into playback singing which is quite unfair.
Jaaved Jaffrey, TV show host
Although I haven't seen the show, I think Fame Gurukul has a really good line-up of judges. Javed Akhtar is famous and more importantly, apt—I guess that's the show's big plus.
Vishal Dadlani, composer
I don't know what the show is like as I don't watch it. But I was invited to meet the team of contestants and think they are very talented. They were told to compose and write their own songs and I think they did well. Arjeet and Arpit were particularly good.
Kunal Ganjawala, singer
People talk about Idol being dramatic. But check out host Shaan being grilled on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. While one judge badgers him on what he's doing with his life, another comments he's a good singer but needs to keep it up. What's more dramatic than a host being grilled like a contestant?
Palash Sen, lead singer Euphoria
I was asked to be a judge on Fame Gurukul but refused the offer. Although I've done Popstars, I am not a big fan of reality shows. These play on people's emotions and is eventually not good for the contestants either. Once they put their personal lives out there for everyone to see, there is no mystery left. This is just a repeat of Idol. How many reality shows does one need?

Poll: I don't want to put a poll on the board, as it can be rigged by clicking on multiple times.
Instead, let's arrange these names in the order you hate most, with most hated person at the top:

My feeling:
1) Prashant faculty
2) Gurpreet
3) Ila headmistress
4) Ruprekha
5) Anubhav
6) Arpita
7) Arijit
8) Rex
9) Padma Faculty
10) Shamit
11) Qazi
12) Mona

Did i miss anybody?
