CHAPTER-2.

Gunjan wanted to move away from his hold,from his vicinity,but somehow stood paralyzed and unmoving..

His dark eyes kept her paralysed..

She looked at his handsome face,completely mesmerized by its male beauty for the first time..

It was odd how she had never noticed how very handsome he was..

He moved a bit closer to her,and Gunjan stared up at his beautiful eyes that had an odd light in them.

"Tainu ki hoya Gunjan?Aise bhagi kiu chali ayi tu waha se?

[What happened to you Gunjan?Why did you run away from there like that?]"He asked softly..His soft tone sending thrills down her nerves..

She was getting lost in his eyes,when his words registered in her mind..

She became alert suddenly,and tried to push him away,taking him by surprise..

She had just moved his hand away,when he pulled at her hand,and she slipped..

Strong arms took her in his arms,and out of breath she stared up into his eyes..Not quite quick enough the slight hurt look in her clear innocent eyes,from his sharp ones..

Gunjan lay half in his arms,within his embrace,her hand clutching onto his half coat,breathing heavily..

That was when she saw something dark and dangerous pass in his eyes..A fraction of a second and it was gone,replaced by his usual concern for her..

"Tu thik to hai na Gunjan?!

[Are you alright Gunjan?!]"He asked softly.

Gunjan awkwardly stood back on her feet,pushing him away,and nodded..

"Thik hu main..Tu ja uss Pammi ji ke paas..Mainu bauhot kaam hai..

[I am alright..You go to that Pammi ji..I have lots of work..]"She turned to leave again,looking at him from the corner of her eyes,expecting him to stop her again..

But to her utter shock and disgust he did not stop her..Infact he nodded his agreement..

"Haan thik hai phir..Tainu main baad mey milti hoon..Wo akeli daar rahi hogi..

[Okay then..I'll see you later..She might get scared alone..]"Saying this he turned and walked away,leaving a fuming and dumbstruck Gunjan staring at his back..

His concern for the unknown girl eating and gnawing at her insides..

The whole night Gunjan could not sleep..Tossing and turning in her bed in frustration..

She did not know why she was so restless all of a sudden..

Ranvi was just her friend..Her childhood friend..Her support during her hard times,but not her..

She blushed at her own wayward thoughts..How could she even think of him as anything other than her best friend..That was not possible!Just not possible..

But as she finally drifted off,an image of a serious faced Ranvi came infront of her..His eyes looking at her with that intense dark look,that he had given her today..Her her rate quickened at the look even in her sleep..

His somber handsome face closer to hers..

"Tainu jalan ho rahi hai ki Gunjan?Pammi se?Par kiu?Main to sirf teri dost hu na?Sirf dost..

[Are you jealous Gunjan?Of Pammi?But why?I am just your friend right?Just friend..]"He whispered in a strange husky voice,and giving her a soft mysterious smile he vanished into thin air..Leaving her to sleep alone in a restless condition..

The new day brought new energy in Gunjan,and she happily walked towards Ranvi's house to look for him..

She was met by a smiling Chaiji instead..

Ranvi was not at home,she was informed by her.Ranvi was at Dalbeer's place,where Dalbeer's cousin Pammi had come to visit..

Anger,and hurt passed through Gunjan's heart at the news..She did notknow why but shesuddenly felt betrayed her..When there was nothing wrong in Ranvi being nice and friendly with anyone..

He was the village sweetheart,and always took care of everyone and tried to help everyone out..

So if he was at Dalbeer's place,there must be a logical reason behind it,some logical part of her mind explained.

But her heart was not ready to listen,as it screamed out in pain and frustration..

Drowning all logic and sense in the waves of pain and hurt formed within it,at Ranvi's giving constant company to an unknown girl..

She stared at Chaiji with a shocked look on her face,for some time,while Chaiji not noticing her shocked and angry state prattled on about Pammi's sweetness and niceness,and what a good daughter-in-law she is going to be for some lucky guy..

Gunjan's heart gave one last painful squeeze,as she turned to leave..

She wanted to leave this house,and run..As far away from Ranvi and all things related to him as possible,was her wild thought as she stepped out of the house..

She had just taken the first step ready to run,when the cause of her turbulent emotions stopped her..

She turned to face Ranvi..Whose face was strangely sombre and worried..

"Gunjan achcha hua ti iththe mil gayi!Mainu tujhse kuch gaal karni thi..Ladkiyon ki pasand ki bare mai..Mera matlab wo Pammi hai na uski-..

[Gunjan it's a good thing I found you here!I had to talk to you about something..About girls' likes..I mean you know that Pammi,her-..]"He could not finish his sentence,as Gunjan pulled her hand free from his,and ran away..

A shocked Ranvi stood dumbstruck,not understanding what had suddenly gotten into her..

Gunjan had ran a long way and had stopped to brush off the tears,that fell from her eyes..

She hated crying like this!

She took another step,brushing her tears at the same time,when she slipped and was about to fall backwards on the hard ground..

She closed her eyes,ready for the eventual hurt..It never came,as she found herself in a strong embrace..

Out of breath,with misty eyes she looked up at a familiar handsome face,whose eyes gleamed at her meaningfully..
