The episode was too rushed to register anything. I honestly think there is more to the track. Let's see how it plays out. I read spoilers that RNJ is in on the plan with RGD.
How ...when did he get into it.. would be interesting. Any scene yesterday could be twisted to have included him as part of the plan.
Am imagining a Khakhi like scene, when Aishwarya Rai runs towards ajay Devgan, in the climax, shocking every character in the movie, and the audiences😆. Maybe I am being too optimistic.

Neither is my husband my teacher nor am I his although we learn from each other ...frequently he makes mistakes and I try and help in course correction...similarly, when I make mistakes, my husband steps in to save the situation and give me clarity...this is what a partnership is about, a marriage is about...
Why are marriages and relationships on TV portrayed in such a skewed manner? Why are men such clueless idiots and women such powerhouses of intelligence, cunning, smarts and of course self-effacement?

I stayed away from TV shows just for this reason. Since this was about a King, I thought there was no way they could turn him into a desi TV beta? It appears that I have been proved spectacularly wrong!

When a beta falls, he is still a beta! But when a King falls, it just makes everything so much worse and ugly!

Why make him out into a virtuous King whose heart beat for his subjects? Even when he left for the war, one could say that he was taking the place of one of the soldiers in his army. He fought shoulder to shoulder with his men. He may have done it even if S had been alive! When he returned, he still took charge of his responsibilities. He had trusted his mother to do right by the kingdom but found she had been misled by the Kunwars. He did not rant or rave but merely told her that he would now take over and do what was right! His devotion to his dead wife was the corner stone of his personal space and he compromised on that for the sake of his kingdom and the word of his mother!

He was impulsive in reacting to G but never on matters of the State. If you describe the act of a soldier in going to fight a war, it would be both tragic and unfair! Alexander was away from his Kingdom and fighting to expand it all the time. He was not called a runaway emperor. At least RNJ had noble intentions. His idea was not to expand his kingdom but fight against evil. The war was against Hitler, and as a British colony, India was part of the British led front. So he fought the war as was his duty and also because the war was just and fair because the enemy was evil and needed to be put down!

A man like that would hand over the reins of his Kingdom to his corrupt uncle? Hardly a few days ago, he chose to leave his Kingdom in the name of his love for his wife. But he chose to leave it in the hands of his mother. Nobody questioned his act then because he was trying to do right by both his wife and the Kingdom.

With the single act of making him leave the kingdom in the hands of his uncle, the writers have butchered RNJ beyond redemption. He stood with hands folded in front of a greedy man, a man he knew to be evil and exploitative, and begged him to wear the crown for his sake and Amerkot's sake? And I am supposed to believe that this man is a hero and invest in his love story? Sure, when pigs fly!

I am disappointed and depressed beyond words! I am still hoping beyond hope that there will be a twist. That there is no way RNJ can hand over the kingdom to Kunwar Chacha! That there is no way he can just brush the incident of the drowning under the carpet and focus on his personal grief! There has been an accidental death and it is the duty of a King to order an inquiry. He cannot, simply cannot, accept explanations at face value. Even if he did at that point, how would he walk away from the Kingdom without knowing the truth!

I know people who have lost loved ones in strange circumstances and have simply not been able to rest until they knew how and why things had happened the way they had. Call it morbid but the human mind is like a dog with a bone. It is always looking for answers.

I don't know about the others, but for me RNJ can never be redeemed if they continue in this vein!

The spoilers alone give me hope...otherwise, RNJ is doomed in my eyes..! The writers have just gone ahead and butchered the biggest reason for me to watch the show...am not interested in saas-bahu politics frankly...nor in female leads who are always right...

If this is about women's empowerment, ETR2 is the last show I'd watch...or any Indian TV soap for that matter...at least going by what I have seen...!

@ Shwets : Nice collages. 😊
The serial should hav been titled "Raja aur uski Raaniyaan" OR "Ameerkot ka Raja"...
I read the written update and saw the episode on ytube. Swarna's grief looked genuine. She acted brilliantly. Rest of the cast, incl RaniMaa were in a state of disbelief, then shock and then subdued grief. I was surprised that even Gayatri's family were so subdued. Her father was conspicuous by his absence which am sure would be explained later.
Badi Rani Maa was good. For enacting a grandmother who is aging at 70+, her smirks, her crooked smile, the winning smile, she is wicked all the way! Her passion for the throne is amazingly portrayed.
Rana Deo was himself. Delirious and then subdued grief, relected in his eyes, yet in a couple of hours he also takes major decisions about Ameerkot. 😃 I was stumped. Kya Raja hain! 👏 I think when you lose two wives, you accept fate and behave like this only! Sad...
I read posts on Gayatri being alive. 😃 After Badi Rani Maa is caught and banished from the Kingdom, then what??? Then its time for the heir. So, we may see a pregnant Gayatri subjected to various accidents /kidnapping etc and who is behind this? Badi Rani Maa!!!!
First episode that I watched after a month, I would rate this 6/10.

I blame the writer. I think ST is making Drashti character stronger since he has worked with her before, leaving RNJ role weak. But if both the leads re not shown strong then interest in the story is lost. I am sure Sid would perform very well too. I think he is an excellent actor...

Bertie, what are the CVs smoking is one of my favorite phrases to use for desi CVs😆 And I use ever so often.

RaGa is one the reasons I am watching ETR but currently I can barely tolerate either of them. The writing sucks. I dont have much hope from these CVs now and dunno how long I can watch ETR, of the few episodes I have watched, even in FF mode like I have done past few weeks !!

But I am not their TRP viewer. As long as their numbers are increasing with the sub-standard crap they are showing, they are happy.

Another show down the drain. What a pity. There was scope for so much here.

Terrible writing and terrible butchering of the ML🤢🤢

Yes Nandy, we are not the TRP viewers...in fact our appreciation and the TRPs have an inverse relationship 😆

I was watching Sid perform y'day...I felt very detached...because what I was seeing was simply not making any sense to me...and for me, when my brain is not engaged, my heart won't be either...!

I agree...I am not a great fan of the way G is being shaped either...but at least she is better off compared to RNJ...the man has been butchered like there is no tomorrow...

I watch the show for the raja, for the rani and for their prem kahani, the raja and consequently the prem kahani from his side are being damaged for me

I don't know exactly how to put it in words but there is inconsistency and many contradictions which make my head spin and unable to decide and all this is Cvs fault!

I still watch the show, and I'll still watch it for a while as I really hope they do some damage control in the real sense and not throw me some dialogues here and there.

I still have the image in my mind of the shrewd, intelligent, good raja who loves his praja and was preparing himslef to serve them and make up for his absence which I thought was situation related only. He wanted to escape his pain but I had in mind also that he fought this war for angrez because they promised to free his kingdom and his people so the love of praja was there though his dialogue about how much he wants to embrace death but it never comes makes it more of a personal matter but still I wanted to believe that he did it for his praja but also for himself as a way of grieving warna if he did it for suicide it tells nothing nice about his character no matter how romantic it might seem that he can't live without his love but it also portrays him as a weak person!! you can cherish the memory of loved ones without being bitter and hating your life!

I still have the image of the tender gentleman who saved that strong determined fangirl from drowning winning her heart forever!

I still have the image of the man who told his BRM that the marriage will happen no matter what because he needs to do it for his praja, I thought lo a man of his word, even when it hurts him, once he decides he never backs off, I overlooked his multiple hesitations after seeing Sula's jewellery/mandap I thought maybe they were making things even more difficult to him (situations related again), so it was a temporary anger I even forgave the fact that it took Rajmata to blackmail him to respect his word!

But seems everything is coming to surface when I see the raja again comitting the same mistakes, seriously!!! folding hands in front of Kuwar Chacha asking him to do you and Amerkoot a favor, !!! He might be doing it to you as you want to escape as usual but definitely not to Amerkoot that he was stealing during all these years and making its praja's life a living hell in cahoots with Britishers!!! and you know it Ranaji still in your pain once again you forgot everything!!! if only u didn't realize that in that darga breakdown scene, I would have said maybe you will realize it later, but you already realized that !! how many times willl you forget and then get reminded!!! You don't think yourself being a good king, just step down! but it still would make you worst as a person who loves the praja, because there is no good replacement for you in that palace maybe only Rajmata if possible, at least she has control over her emotions!

And you love your Sula and Gayatri so much, that neither did you find Sula's corpse, nor did you bother to investigate what exactly happened to Gayatri!!

Believe me I love Ranaji, at least I love the image I had of him, while Gayatri's character didn't get many blows, it was almost always consistent and clear and lovable to me, minus the daasi drama which again she did thinking that it's not that what will hurt her but rather her husband's lack of decision, so one can just think of it as the same way she did with her bhabis, ignoring it because she wants to and not because she can't (still very demeaning that dassi of souten thing!!) but the point here is her world was all about Ranaji, she never changed, she never had doubts, for the love story it was nice, she did all what she could for him, but him even with choosing her and even stepping down the throne for her, you still can't feel him immensely, I don't know there is lack of something and I blame Cvs for that, they didn't give his character the required attention in terms of what he feels, what he thinks, what he does when he is alone, now that we need to see his process of thinking they hardly do it, his vision of all what's happening around him and I want this to be done steadily and not once in a while like they did with his flashbacks today or his scene with BRM when he was a child, we need to get closer to Ranaji, focus on him, we need to relate to him more, we did our best to understand him based on whatever expressions we could decipher or the little you have shown but it's not enough, you give more focus to the FL, I don't mind it I want them both equaly focused on but ignoring Ranaji now when he is in love with Gayatri, yaar you showed much more intensity, reactions, flashbacks and outbursts when you showed us his story with Sula or is it the pace that makes me feel that!!

To sum up I have a problem with Ranaji's character and consequently with the love story from his side, he needs to evolve a lot, I loved him a lot especially in the beginning of the show but his character showed and is showing some big flaws which even with all his good intentions make of him a bad king and to some extent not the best of lovers either!!

Obviously I always have hopes, maybe this image I have will change in the future or be proved wrong to my great delight by the way, but now I see lack of intensity and conviction in the love story and in the king/lover Ranaji

I want a strong, determined, intelligent, with a lot of control king, and a passionate intense strong and emotionally intelligent lover!

Awesome post arhi 👏

But may be Ranaji know Gayatri is not dead according to TT article.. may be he is also the part of this plan with Gayatri.. coz how can he did same mistake again which he did at Sula time.. and he handled the Kingdom to kunwar chacha instead of Rajmata..Seriously!!! 😡

Really really hope Ranaji doing all this intentionally to find out real culprit and he know very well that G is not death!! But we can do only Hope otherwise everything is in CVs hand 🤢
