@Dev it is a love story set in 1960 based on the novel Gunahon ke Devta. It's the story of Sudha and Chander who were childhood friends. Chander is the student of Sudha's father and as far as I know Chander does a mistake that pushes Sudha into a life of misery.

That's why the title " Gunahon Ke Devta" . Chander is very good person in every way, but that one mistake brings him down from the pedestal.

I have not read the book, but the story is about their relation, mistake of Chander and its aftermath in their life. Book is very much acclaimed and many of us here are happy that the series have finally happened.

Story opens with Sudha in critical condition asking for Chander. Someone tells her Chander has come and she goes numb. We are taken to flashback where naughty Sudha goes to receive Chander in the railway station. But before she sees him, his friends come and take him to college because he has won a competition and they want to felicitate him,

Sudha waits for him in the Pooja and refuses to come dressed telling her pooja is incomplete without Chander. Finally Chander comes and brings her to Pooja.

This is just nutshell. I would request you to watch it, to get the feel of the epi. Epi are beautifully shot. This series is more about the feel unlike EHT and Everest which had a thrill and inspiration associated with them.

I found an English review and plot summary online. Without giving much away it's a tragic love story and from what I've read I think a couple of movies have dealt on this issue in different ways. There is an English translation called Chander and Sudha, but I still haven't been able to find a copy of the book yet.
