4th Shot
On the same night, laying on the bed kalpana recalled her day; she recalled how her life got saved from being ruined. The person, who she made up her mind as a future since childhood, didn't leave any option to ruin her life. Taking a deep breath she continued thinking, but the person, she never thought even in her dream will set everything right as always by accepting her. She recalled how Raghav supported her since childhood. To bring a smile to her face, he was always ready to do anything. In a short time everything changed. Raghav, her best friend, Kalpana blushed thinking that her best friend was now her husband, her life partner. Kalpana stayed awake that night in his thought.
The next day kalpana asked dadi if Raghav reached safe. Dadi told kalpana that he didn't call yet and said, "Why are you asking me, you have his number, call him as he is your husband." Kalpana had raghavs number since he had been in USA but she never called him. She always wanted to call him, talk to him but she would hesitate. The holi incident affected her a lot, it caused her to make her distance from raghav. Since then kalpana didn't talk to him openly the way she used to do. Though she was upset but for her he was always her best friend and she would miss her best friend Raghav a lot. Since two years, she noticed that whenever she would think about raghav, her heart would start beating fast with an unknown feeling. And now her best friend Raghav became her husband and it was very hard for her to control her heart. She took the phone in her hand. She took courage to dial his number. Her heart started beating fast with every passing ring tone. After two rings, she cut the call.
After two hours, Raghav called from USA. He told dadi that he just reached home because his flight got delayed. He cut the call saying that he will talk to dadi again as he needed to go to office now. Kalpana was listening to their conversation from hiding herself behind the door. Finally she got relieved thinking that he reached safely. It became a habit for Kalpana, whenever Ragahv would talk to dadi, she would listen to their conversation from behind the door but never would try to talk to him. But it was not unnoticed by dadi. Dadi noticed that neither Raghav nor Kalpana ever tried to talk to each other though they were best friends once. She could realize their situation, they were fine until they were best friends and now they became husband and wife. Any relation needs time to nourish and grow. Dadi knew it will take time for them to accept each other in any new relationship.
15 days passed like this. One day dadi asked Raghav if he was coming to India soon. Ragahv said he would be busy for the whole month and will try to come next month.
As time passed dadi was feeling bad for Kalpana. She felt bad thinking, the person Kalpana got married to didn't even see his face. It had been almost one month Kalpnaa was away from her newly wedded groom. Though Kalpana didn't say anything to dadi but Dadi could feel how restless kalpana had been nowadays. For how long she had to wait. One day when, "Dadi, is he coming soon?" slipped from Kalpana's mouth accidently, at that time dadi decided to do something for both of them.
Two days later when Ragahv called dadi and told her that he wouldn't be able to make this time, then dadi said,
Dadi: RAghav, if you cant make it then can I send KAlpana there?
Ragahv: She wants to come?
Dadi: If I tell her then she will surely come.
Ragahv: dadi, don't pressurize her. Just ask her if she wants to come. I will send the ticket.
Dadi: Raghav, I know Prem made a mistake but can't we just forgive him and bring him here?
Ragahv: Dadi, please don't say anything about him. If you want to forgive him, I will not stop you but please don't expect anything from me.
I know Ragahv, if Prem would do anything with you then you would forgive him but when it is a matter of Kalpana...Dadi said in her mind.
Once Ragahv cut the call, dadi told Kalpana if she wanted to go to USA. Hearing her, Kalpana was happy thinking finally she would be able to be with him but hesitated at the same time thinking how she would go in front of him, it would be ok if she would be his friend but as a wife, nooo. It is a big no, after thinking, Kalpana denied saying, "Dadi, I am not going anywhere leaving you here alone." Hearing her dadi said, "Do you remember, when you were kid, you wished to have Raghav with you all the time. Finally, when you got a chance to live with him then why are you denying?" Kalpana didn't say anything and left from there.
The next day, Ragahv called dadi,
Raghav: Dadi, did you talk to Kalpana?
Dadi: Beta vo..actually..she is hesitating to go there alone.
Ragahv: It's ok dadi. I can understand.
Dadi: beta, you are married now. I know you are busy, but try to have some time for your wife. Just think about Kalpana, what she will feel. The person she was going to marry didn't show up and the person she got married to have been in USA since she got married. Beta, it's been one month you both are away. I want you both to take the steps further in your life with your new relationship.
Two weeks later
After coming from her college, Kalpana went to dadi's room. She started asking dadi about her whereabouts as it became her a daily routine, how dadi was, did she take medicine on time, did she take enough rest...? Dadi knew that at the end Kalpana will ask about Ragahv. Before Kalpana said, "Dadi, when he is...?" Dadi didn't let her finish her sentence saying, "He is coming next week." Hearing her Kalpana couldn't believe her ears. Seeing her looking at dadi confused, dadi said, "Raghav called in this morning and confirmed it." Kalpana was as happy as she couldn't control herself and kissed on dadi's cheek causing dadi to widen her eyes. Kalpana bit her tongue realizing what she just did.
Each passing day seemed like a year for Kalpana as she had been eagerly waiting for Raghav to come to India. Finally the day came. Now her heart started beating fast with each and every passing hour of his arrival.
Dadi sent the driver to receive Raghav from the airport. Kalpana wore the saree which Dadi gifted her especially for this day. After putting light make up, she came out from her room. Seeing her, "you are looking so beautiful. Kisika najar na lagey," saying so dadi took little kajol from her eyes and then placed it behind her ear.
It was 8 PM. The doorbell rang. Both dadi and Kalpana stood up from the couch. While dadi went to open the door, Kalpana ran and hid herself behind a pillar. Kalpana heard dadi opened the door. Then she heard HIM saying, "Dadi, how are you?" Saying so he touched dadi's feet.
Dadi: I am fine beta. Thanks god you are here. I am not letting you to leave early this time.
Hearing dadi, Ragahv smiled.
Dadi: I know you must be tired and hungry. Lets go to have dinner first then take rest.
Raghav: Yes dadi. I am so tired.
While eating, Raghav's eyes were searching for someone around the living room. It was not unnoticed by dadi.
Dadi: Kalpana, what are you doing over there. Come here. Dadi when he is coming, when he is coming and now when he is here, you hid yourself?
Hearing her, Ragahv smiled and turned his head little bit behind for few seconds while Kalpana bit her tongue as she got caught. After finishing dinner, "Dadi, I am going to my room," saying so he got off from the chair. Before he turned to leave, Kalpana ran from there and locked herself into her room.
One hour later Kalpana came out from her room thinking that Raghav may have fallen asleep. After having dinner with dadi, Kalpana was about to go to her room, but stopped when dadi said showing a jug, "Kalpana, take this jug to Ragahv's room. He may need it at night." Saying so dadi went to her room to sleep. Kalpana took the jug in her hand. Once she started walking to his room, she felt her heart beating fast. Without wasting a second, she came back with the jug and mumbled to herself, "No, I cant go. What if he is still awake?" She looked around and then looked at the wall clock. It was 10 PM. "All the maids already left," she whispered to herself. After thinking a lot she decided not to go to his room. She put the jug back on the table and went to her room. She sat in front of the dresser. Looking at the reflection on the mirror, she said, "Dadi was right. You were so restless to meet him, but when he is here then what happened with you? Why couldn't you go in front of him?" While she was taking off her jewelry, she said, "I don't know why but it never happened with me when we were just friends." She blushed thinking, now we are not friends anymore but more than that. Kalpana changed her saree and wore a simple salwar suit and then went to sleep but her sleep was far away.
Kalpana felt thirsty. She looked at the wall clock. It was 3 AM. She got off from the bed and went to the kitchen.
On the other hand, Raghav felt his way to the side table where the jug used to be kept. He opened his eyes and saw the jug was empty.
In the kitchen, Kalpana took out a water bottle from the refrigerator and opened the cap. When she was going to pour water into her mouth, someone bumped into her, causing her to scream with her eyes closed thinking it was a thief. In few seconds she felt her mouth covered by the person. Kalpana was so scared. The person's grip on her waist was as tight as she couldn't move. Her eyes were still closed. Both the person and Kalpana were standing so close to each other that they could feel each other's breath on their face. The person was staring at her without blinking his eyes. Though the kitchen was dark but the person could see her face clearly with the moonlight through the kitchen window. He was as lost in her beauty as he couldn't realize that his one hand was still covering her mouth while his other hand was on her waist. After few minutes, when he removed his hand from her mouth slowly, his eyes fell on her beautiful lips. As his grip loosened from her waist, Kalpana opened her eyes. She looked at the person. First she was confused thinking he seemed familiar. After a while, it is HIM, when Kalpana realized, she bit her tongue and ran from there leaving Raghav with a smile on his face. After five long years finally they got to see each other. After drinking water from the same bottle Kalpana put on the counter top before she left, he went to his room. He stood in front of the dresser and wipe water off his face with a tissue. While doing this, he smiled thinking what just happened earlier. Then he went to sleep. After few minutes he fell asleep with a smile.
The next morning, Ragahv's sleep got distracted with the sound coming from the puja room. "I think dadi is doing puja," Saying so he got off from the bed. He walked toward that room and saw a girl standing in front of Ganpati facing her back to Ragahv. He noticed that the girl was wearing a simple white salwar suit and loosened her wet long hair and water was dripping from her hair on the ground.
If not dadi then who is she, Ragahv thought. Without wasting a second he walked toward her and stood behind her making a little distance. Once she was done and turned her head, her wet hair brushed his face causing him to close his eyes. He slowly opened his eyes and saw the girl was none other than Kalpana. Both of them were staring at each other. Her damp hairs fell on one shoulder while the other had the stole. He checked her out completely from top to toe. Though in formal yet she was looking extremely pretty. The simplicity and innocence which she carried in her heart always enlightened her face with a glow. No doubt, so beautiful like a fresh inborn baby who just possesses innocence around her. She was dressed in simple Salwar suit yet it was looking elegant on her. On the other hand Kalpana found him more handsome with his new look. His beard perfectly suit his face and made him even look more manly. Now she understood why she couldn't recognize him last night. She also noticed in five years he maintained his body very well. When she noticed some water spilled on his face from her wet hair, She apologized saying, "Oh I am I am so so-so-rry, vo actu..." Raghav smiled and cut her sentence saying, "Please bring me a cup of coffee to my room." Hearing him Kalpana was just staring at him without blinking her eyes. Ragahv turned to leave. He thought something and then turned his head again and saw Kalpana was still standing at the same place with the same expressions. "Do not send any maid, okay? I need to talk to you," saying so Ragahv left from there leaving Kalpana in a deep thought.
While making coffee Kalpana mumbled to herself, "Kalpana you can't hide from him anymore. Now you have to face him every day." With this thought Kalpana walked toward his room. The door was open but still she knocked the door. Hearing Ragahv saying, "Please come in." Kalpana entered into the room and saw Raghav was on the phone talking to someone. Kalpana placed the cup of coffee on a table and was about to leave but stopped when Raghav said softly, "Thank you." She turned her head and looked at him confused. "I said thank you for the coffee," Ragahv said with a smile while placing his phone on a table. Hearing him Kalpana smiled and nodded her head. Kalpana was about to leave the room but stopped again when he said, "Kalpana, wait. I need to give you something." Showing the bed he said, "Sit over there." Kalpana sat at the corner of his bed lowering her head like a newly wedded bride. Kalpana lifted her head when ragahv said handing over a jewelry box, "I don't know you will like it or not. Actually, I bought it with the help of one of my friends. She said, this is the perfect gift for a newly wedded bride. But I told my friend that you are not the girly type." Hearing him Kalpana smiled thinking he still remembered how she was such a tomboy. Kalpana opened the jewelry box and was in awe seeing a beautiful diamond necklace with matching earrings. "I know you didn't like it that much but this is for a newly wedded bride. I have something else for you from a friend. You will definitely like it." Kalpana said, "No this is really beautiful. Thank you," saying so she left from there.
Kalpana made dishes especially for Raghav today. After tasting the food, raghav couldn't believe that kalpana could make tasty dishes. As much as he got to know about her, he became more surprised. Kalpana loved when he praised her. After lunch raghav went to meet the lawyer regarding the case.
At night after dinner when Raghav and dadi were talking to each other, he noticed that Kalpana was just listening to them, sitting beside dadi quietly. Raghav thought, before he became her husband, he needed Kalpana friendly with him the way they used to be when they were kid. Actually Ragahv was missing his childhood friend a lot. His chain of thought broke when dadi said, "I have to take medicine now," saying so dadi left from there leaving ragna alone in the living room. After dadi left, there was totally silent. Ragahv broke the silent saying,
Ragahv: So, Kalpana, how is your study?
Kalpana: Good.
Ragahv: What is your future plan?
Kalpana: I wanted to be a professor. But if you don't like me to be a professor, I can change my major.
Ragahv: Why do you want to change? Do whatever you would like to do.
Kalpana felt good thinking that Ragahv supported her, with her likes and dislikes. On the other hand, Ragahv felt good thinking that Kalpana still care for his decision.
Ragahv: Best of luck Kalpana. I want you to do PHD in the USA and I will help you in every possible way.
Kalpana: Thank you.
Raghav: So other than this everything alright?
Kalpana: Yah.
After that no one found anything else to talk about. Ragahv looked at the wall clock and saw it was 11 PM. "I am going to sleep. I will talk to you tomorrow. Good night," saying so he left from there. "Good night," Kalpana whispered and then went to her room.
The next morning, Kalpana woke up early and went to the kitchen to make coffee for Ragahv. Seeing her in the kitchen, dadi was shocked as Kalpana hated the most to wake up early and today she woke up at 6 AM.
Dadi: What happened Kalpana? What made you to wake up this early?
Kalpana didn't want to get caught and lied, "I don't know why, but today I felt like having coffee."
Dadi: Early in the morning?
Kalpana: ha
Kalpana poured coffee into a catley and left from there with it leaving dadi smiled. I know who you are taking coffee for, dadi said in her mind.
Kalpana entered into Ragahv's room and found him sleeping. After waiting for 30 minutes, Ragahv opened his eyes and found Kalpana sitting on the couch with coffee. While fixing himself in a sitting position, he asked, "Kalpana, you at this time?"
Kalpana: I made coffee that's why I thought to bring for you.
Kalpana poured coffee into a cup and handed it over to Ragahv. Taking the cup in his hand, he said, "Thank you, but you don't need to do all this. You already know that I am self-independent. I can do my work."
Kalpana: I know you are. Whenever you will be alone in USA, you can do your work but as long as you are here you don't need to worry about it. I really feel bad for you thinking about how much you work.
Hearing her, Ragahv said after sipping his coffee, "Hmm, I think, I don't have to worry with anything now when I have someone to take care of me." Hearing him Kalpana realized what she just said. She didn't want to get caught that's why lied,
Kalpana: Vo, actually it was dadi who told me before you came here that I should take care of you. She became old na. She won't be able to do all these. She also told me to bring coffee for you.
Seeing Raghav looking at her, "Dadi may need me," saying so Kalpana left from there leaving Ragahv smiled.
After Taking shower as Kalpana came out, she saw Ragahv was waiting for her outside of her room. First she was confused thinking if he needed to talk to her then why didn't he enter into her room. Then she realized when Ragahv replied,
Ragahv: Kalpana, you are not 6/7 years old girl that I can enter into your room whenever I want.
Hearing him, Kalpana smiled and asked, "Do you need anything?"
Ragahv: I wanted to do some shopping. Will you give me some company?
Kalpana: Me?
Raghav: Hmm. Why, is there any problem?
He thought something and said teasingly, "I already took permission from dadi. She said, you can come with me. If you want you can ask her again."
Kalpana: No it's ok. You already took permission na. Give me five minutes. I will be back
While getting ready, in the beginning she was hesitating thinking, she was going out with him for the first time but later on she just let it go from her mind.
When Kalpana came outside, she saw Ragahv was waiting for her in front of a white RDX Acura car.
Kalpana: This car is so beautiful.
Handing the key of the car, Ragahv said, "Do you want to drive?"
Kalpana: Are you sure?
Ragahv nodded with smile and then fixed himself on the passenger seat.
On the way to the shopping mall, their car was waiting in the traffic. Seeing a man was selling paani puri on the street through the window, Ragahv asked, "Kalpana do you want to eat paani puri?"
Kalpana: No.
Ragahv: Why not? So far I know you loved paani puri.
Ragahv was shocked when Kalpana replied, "Yes I used to love paani puri but I stopped having it when you told me not to eat any food from outside as it was not hygienic. Seeing Ragahv looking at her confused, Kalpana said, "Do you remember you said, no eating from outside, no playing with boys?" Hearing her Ragahv felt good thinking, He told her when she was a kid but still she was following his each and every advice. He smiled and said, "Kalpana, you are grown up now. You should have your own choice. Forget about what I said. As I said, just do whatever you would like to do." While talking to each other, a police officer came to check their papers as it was their duty to check papers for every passing vehicle. "Ragahv, where is the paper?" Hearing Kalpana Ragahv pointed a drawer. Without looking at those papers, Kalpana handed them over to the police officer. Checking those papers, the police officer said, "So Kalpana Jadhav, papers look fine. Can I have your driving license please?" Hearing him she was confused thinking, how the police officer knew her name. "Sure," Saying so Kalpana handed over the license. While Kalpana was busy talking to the police officer, Ragahv bought some flower for Kalpana from a little girl as she was insisting. "Ok mam, everything is fine. You can go," hearing the officer, Kalpana took those papers and was about to keep them back in the drawer, something clicked in her mind. Her eyes widened seeing her name on those papers. Later on she realized that, Raghav bought this car for her as he was talking about that he had something else for her she would definitely like when he gifted her neckless at that morning. Kalpana looked at Raghav who was already looking at her. "Ragahv, yeh saab?" hearing Kalpana Ragahv whispered, "For you." Kalpana smiled and said, "You still remembered I would love to play with car." Ragahv replied, "Hmm, I remembered everything related to you." Both shared an intense eye lock for few seconds. After breaking the eye lock, Ragahv said handing over her favorite flower, "This is for you." Kalpana smiled taking her favorite flowers from his hand.
Once ragna entered into the mall, Ragahv told Kalpana to choose something for dadi and herself. Kalpana chose few sarees for dadi and told Ragahv that she didn't need any as dadi gifted her a lot. He knew she will not choose anything for her that's why decided to get some saree for her himself. When Ragahv was paying the bill at the counter, Kalpana asked, "Ragahv, what about yours? You came here to buy something for you right?"
Ragahv: Actually, I came here for both of you which I did.
Kalpana: But I don't need anything.
Ragahv: But I wanted you to have some as you have to come with me to attend one of my school friend's receptionist party.
Seeing Kalpana looking at him confused he said, "They already know about you. It will not look good if I go there alone." Hearing him she agreed to go with him.
Seeing Kalpana after seven days in the college, her friends started teasing her saying, Oh my god! New car! She must have pleased him that's why he bought her a car, how was her night with her husband, how many times she allowed her husband...
Kalpana wanted to shut their mouth and said, "Why should I tell you about what happened in between us?" One of her friends Purvi pleaded, "Please tell na."
Kalpana: No. I will not tell you.
Purvi: Achcha, just tell us, was he a good kisser?
Saying so she started checking marks on Kalpana's neck. Covering her neck with her dopatta, KAlpana said, "Why should I show you?"
Purvi: Achcha, just tell us, was he wild with you?
Hearing her Kalpana looked at her confused.
Purvi: I meant to say when he made love to you; he was not gentle and bit your sensitive parts of your body.
Hearing her Kalpana thought, that's how a couple do?
Her chain of thought broke when Purvi continued,
Purvi: He must be experienced in this as he had been in Abroad for a long time. I heard that these people keep 3/4 girlfriends before they get married.
Kalpana got angry and said,
Kalpana: He is not that type ok? I know him since childhood. Though he is Prem's brother but totally different than him. He respects women a lot.
After that day her friends never dared to say a word against Ragahv.
In the Mansion
In the evening Kalpana went to get ready for the party. She wore one of the sarees that Raghav selected for her. She wore diamond matching jewelry. She put little makeup.
Ragahv was waiting for her in the living room. Seeing him waiting dadi called Kalpana, "Kalpana, how long you will take? Come fast. Ragahv is waiting for you." Hearing dadi, Ragahv said, "Dadi, don't bother. Let her get ready na. Girls need time to get ready." Dadi said, "I know girls take time to get ready. But Kalpana doesn't as she never put lot of make-up." After five minutes of waiting, "There she is," Hearing dadi, Ragahv got off from the couch and then when he turned to face her, Ragahv was so lost in her. She had something in her which attracted him toward her. He watched her from top to bottom with admiring eyes and felt himself highly aroused. Kalpana was looking damn beautiful and gorgeous in saree. He never saw her in saree. Seeing her in saree, he realized that his princess now grew up; she was neither a kid nor a teenager but became a beautiful woman. Raghav smiled. He started walking toward her. On the other hand, Kalpana was staring at him with so much love and affection. He was looking damn handsome in black suit. He stood near her. "You are looking so beautiful," Raghav whispered. Kalpana smiled and lowered her eyes shyly. "Chaley," Hearing Ragahv, Kalpana said, "Hmm." Then ragna started walking toward the exit side by side. Before Ragahv left he said, "Dadi, don't wait for us. We may come back late." Watching Ragna from behind, dadi blessed them and said, "Perfect Jodi. Kisika najar na lagey."
On the way to the venue, there was totally silent in the car but while driving Ragahv kept glancing to Kalpana who's all attention was on the road.
Ragna reached the venue. Once ragna entered into the venue, Kalpana felt that Raghav slid his hand on her bare waist like other couples that made her to feel some current in her body. But she was surprised thinking she didn't feel uncomfortable in his touch as that was the first time Ragahv touched her after their marriage. Seeing them, Ragahv's friend Manish walked toward them. Ragahv introduced Kalpana with all of his male and female school friends.
Manish: Ragahv you got married and didn't even throw a party. Not fair yaar.
Ragahv: Actually everything happened so quickly that I didn't get a chance.
Ragahv didn't tell his friends that he got married to his younger brothers would be wife.
Manish: So what made you to do this so quickly? She wouldn't run na as she was your child hood friend.
Hearing him Kalpana was surprised thinking, Ragahv told everyone about her. Kalpana became so interested to know what exactly Ragahv shared about her with his friends. But she was sure that whatever he shared was good.
Ragahv looked at Kalpana and said, "No she would not run."
Manish: Achcha now tell me when are you going to throw the party.
Ragahv: Not this time. Actually I came here only for few days. But I promise, I will do it when I come back.
Kalpana noticed that Ragahv's all friends were already married. It was only Ragahv who had late marriage. Most of his friends married at the same age as they were class mate. Kalpana was the only one who was young. She had an urge to know why Ragahv didn't marry one of his class mates. Looking at his few gorgeous female friends who were busy talking to each other, Kalpana thought, without any doubt they had that capabilities to pull any guy toward them.
Raghav's all friends were very friendly and they didn't make Kalpana feel bored. At the end of the party, when all the couples were called to the dance floor, it was only Ragna who didn't dance. But Ragna enjoyed watching other couples dancing.
While going back to the Mansion, Kalpana asked, "You told your friends that this time you came here only for few days."
Ragahv: Yep.
Kalpana: When are you going back?
Ragahv: Soon.
Hearing him Kalpana became sad thinking, I don't know next time how long he will take to come back, may be one year, may be more than that the way he had been doing. Kalpana's trance broke when Ragahv said,
Ragahv: Did you enjoy the party?
Kalpana: Hmm. All your friends were very nice.
Ragahv: I know. That's why I took you there thinking you will not feel bored.
Ragna reached the Mansion. Before they went to their rooms, Ragahv said, "Thanks for coming with me." Kalpana smiled. "Good night!" Ragahv whispered. "Good night," saying so Kalpana entered into her room.
Two days later when everyone got busy preparing for the holi the way they had been doing every year in the Mansion, Kalpana was sad thinking, when holi comes why does it keep reminding me every year about my bitter past. Though she didn't want dadi to celebrate it in Ragahv's presence, she couldn't say anything thinking dadi may feel bad.
Holi day
Kalpana was enjoying watching other people enjoying the holi standing at the door of the Mansion. She was watching them dancing, putting color on each other, drinking Bhaang. Her friends started calling her to join them but she denied saying, "You enjoy. I am fine here." Hearing her, dadi said, "What is fine standing here alone ha? Why don't you enjoy with your friends?" Kalpana said, "Dadi you go." Dadi said, "Yes I will definitely go as I am not as boring as you. I don't know what happened with you as you grew up? Sometimes I get confused thinking were you the same who used to enjoy holi the most." One person was watching them little far from there. When he came to the living room while talking to someone on the phone, he cut the call hearing Dadi and Kalpana's conversations. He knew that it was only him who was responsible for her this state. He thought he had to do something to bring her out of this.
Kalpana felt someone's fingers touch both her cheeks from behind like a feather brushing past her. She touched her own cheeks and got angry seeing color on her fingers. "How dare you, who put color on my cheek?" saying so she turned and was shocked seeing Ragahv there.
Kalpana: Rag-ha-v you?
Ragahv: Hmm.
Kalpana: But so far I know you do-n't like co-lo-r.
After a little pause Ragahv said, "Yes, I never liked color. It is not necessary to like everything. It is also not necessary to stop someone from liking something. But as I grew, I got to learn one thing that your happiness is hiding in someone else's happiness. You will be more happy when you will make other people happy." Kalpana was just listening to him surprised. They looked outside when Kalpana's friend Purvi called her name, "Kalpana, ab to aja." Looking at her, Ragahv said softly, "Go, your friends are calling you." Kalpana smiled and nodded. Without wasting a second Kalpana ran from there leaving Ragahv with a smile.
Once Kalpana joined her friends, they started teasing her saying, "Wow! When he said you agreed to come here. I have never seen anyone like this." Hearing them Kalpana smiled.
With the help of Purvi, two boys brought Ragahv out of the Mansion. They threw color on him making Kalpana widen her eyes. She was surprised seeing Ragahv's reaction as he neither said anything nor got angry. When Kalpana was so lost in her thoughts, Purvi pushed her toward Raghav causing them to fall in the mixture of colored water. Both Kalpana and Ragahv were totally drenched in colorful water. First Raghav somehow managed himself to get off and then helped Kalpana from the water. When they looked at each other, they started laughing loudly,
Ragahv: Kalpana, look at you. You are looking so funny.
Kalpana: No Ragahv, first look at yourself.
When ragna were busy teasing each other, one boy handed a glass of Bhaang over to Raghav. Without looking at it, he drank the whole glass and ordered the same boy to bring another glass.
Ragahv pulled Kalpana by her hand to the place where other people were dancing. Though he didn't know how to dance but joined other people.
On the other hand dadi was super happy seeing Ragna happy.
When Kalpana felt Ragahv dizzy, she asked, "Ragahv, how many glasses did you drink?" Raghav replied with dizzy, "I don't know Kalpana." "Lets go to the Mansion," saying so Kalpana and Ragahv started walking. She noticed that Ragahv was having problem to walk straight due to dizziness. She placed his one hand on her shoulder and she held him up by his waist. She took him to the washroom and "Ragahv change your dress. I am waiting for you outside," saying so when Kalpana turned to leave but Ragahv stopped her holding her hand. "Why do you always run from me hmm? Spend some time with me na." Hearing Ragahv, Kalpana turned to face him. She looked at his pleading eyes. Raghav started walking toward her slowly. While walking he was about to fall due to his dizziness, but Kalpana held him pulling him closer to her. He wrapped his hands around her waist pulling her closer more to his body and looked down into her eyes. He came that much close that they could feel their breath in each other's face. He moved near her face and kissed her right cheek and then her left cheek. Kalpana stared at him without blinking her eyes. Ragahv then slowly moved his lips down to her neck and kissed there making Kalpana close her eyes. Ragahv closed his eyes resting his head on her shoulder. Kalpana felt a strange feeling in her body. She felt warm and cozy in his warm and toned with muscles body. Their bodies found solace in each other's arms. Ragna were in each other's arms for a long time.
Kalpana: Raghav.
Ragahv: Hmm
Kalpana: I have to go
Ragahv: No
Kalpana: Please
Ragahv: Don't bother Kalpana. Let me sleep na.
After few minutes when she felt Raghav fell asleep, Kalpana made him sleep on the bed and left from there.
Kalpana didn't feel like to change her dress. She laid down on her bed and started recalling her moments with Raghav. "My best holi ever," Kalpana mumbled to herself. After few minutes she fell asleep with a smile.
The next morning, in his sleep, Ragahv started calling, "Kalpana, where is my coffee," as it became a regular habit for Ragahv now. "Here it is," Hearing dadi, Ragahv opened his eyes.
Ragahv: dadi where is Kalpana?
Dadi: she is in the kitchen.
After sipping the coffee, he felt Kalpana made it. He was confused thinking, if Kalpana made coffee for him then why she didn't come. After finishing his coffee, he got off from the bed and went to the kitchen. But she was not there. After searching the whole Mansion when he couldn't find her, he asked dadi and then got to know that she already left for the college.
On the other hand realizing what happened last night, Kalpana was too shy to face Raghav. After coming back from her college she hid herself again. Ragahv noticed this and was confused thinking, what happened with Kalpana all of a sudden? She was fine until yesterday. Is she hurt by me? With this thought he started remembering. Slowly he started getting flashes of washroom incidents, but it was not clear. He thought, whatever it was, it was a beautiful feelings. He decided to talk to Kalpana about it tomorrow.
Seeing time in her room's digital clock flashed 6:30 Am, Kalpana got off from her bed and went to the washroom. After freshening up, once she came out from her room, she was shocked seeing Ragahv was waiting for her at the door. "Raghav you at this ti..?" before she could complete her sentence, Ragahv held her hand and almost pulled her into his room. Making her sit on the bed, he fixed himself beside her. Looking into her eyes directly, he asked, "Tell me what happened? Why are you ignoring me? Did I hurt you with anything?" Hearing him Kalpana thought, I think he didn't remember anything.
Kalpana: Nothing Raghav.
Ragahv: Are you sure?
Kalpana: Hmm.
Raghav: Thanks God. I thought I made a mistake.
Kalpana felt relieved thinking he didn't remember anything.
On the same night, when Kalpana was thinking about Ragahv, all of a sudden her eyes fell on her cell phone.
On the other hand, laying on his bed, Ragahv was sad thinking in few days he had to leave. All of a sudden, his phone buzzed with a message. He took it in his hand and smiled. It was Kalpana's message. He opened the message and read,
Kalpana: Thanks for everything.
Before he could send any message, he kept getting messages,
Kalpana: Thanks for a beautiful car.
Kalpana: Thanks for a beautiful neckless
Kalpana: Thanks for those beautiful sarees.
Before he was going to press send button with a message, he got another message
Kalpana: Especially for making my best holi ever.
Reading her messages, Ragahv smiled. Something clicked into his mind at that moment. He bit his lower lip and messaged her
Kalpana opened his message and read,
Raghav: I will accept all your thanks if you come with me to USA.
After that it became a regular habit for both of them to text each other. The next day when Ragahv didn't hear anything from Kalpana he sent her message,
Ragahv: Kalpana there are only 5 days left. I still didn't hear anything from you.
Five days later
Ragahv was all ready to leave but this time he was leaving with a heavy heart and he knew very well why. After touching dadi's feet, he said
Ragahv: Dadi I will miss you a lot.
Dadi: I will miss you beta.
Raghav: take care of yourself and Kalpana.
Dadi: you take care of yourself.
Looking around the living room,
Ragahv: Dadi, where is Kalpana? I haven't seen her since morning.
Dadi: She was here few minutes ago. She might be outside waiting for you.
Raghav came outside and looked around but there was no sign of Kalpana. After fixing himself in the car, he thought, if she doesn't want to come with me that's fine but at least she could reply my message. His chain of thought broke when his phone buzzed with a message. A smile appeared on his face when he read her message,
Kalpana: You go. I am coming in few days.
