agree with vidya, reader's have to cment if they realy like story. And if reader are nt cmenting, writer shldnt hv to stop stories disappointing other reader.
Which story i read i cment on them, which i didnt read i didnt cment. And sumtym reader's wish to silent reader coz its nt posible to gv cment on each n every story. Bt dat doesnt mean reader are doing partiality, its just reader's incovenience and other work stop them.

Asa reader when I comment I do like to get acknowledgement but some writers I find are playing favorited and only comment on certain readers comments and now I don't feel like commenting anymore I feel sad when I m ignored so if no comment no ignorance life is fine 😭 😛

Readers are obviously important for writers. Writers like to hear what readers have to say about it that is why comments are welcomed. For me, a reader who does not comment on an update is like someone going to watch a movie in the cinema and expecting to see a movie for free. Because they show up, free entry, read and leave.

Then I think maybe the update wasn't good enough for a comment then. But I will always update for those that took the time to offer their views and requests update.😊

I have come to realize you can't get discouraged by some when there are others who are supporting you.

Totally agree I love to comment but I notice some writers only acknowledge favorite readers and say thank you and leave the others ignored this discourages those readers from writing a comment. So it goes both ways. I love to comment and have a writer feel good but if I m being ignored I stop commenting i give chances but if still favorited are acknowledged and I m ignored then no use giving comment that tells me my comment doesn't mean anything to that writer.

But sometimes writers play favorited and comment on some readers comments and ignore others . At that point a reader doesn't want to comment

At the present time I don't respond to comments all the time because I am giving daily updates ( which takes up hours of my day) so that occupies my time. I am sure the writers who do the same probably don't respond to all comments but that doesn't mean they are not reading it.

At the end of the day the writer is providing a service to the reader which is giving an update and the reader should acknowledge that service by giving the writer their thoughts on the chapter. But you can't force people to comment. Whoever wants to comment can comment. I happen to be one of the fortunate writers who have readers that are consistent with their responses on the updates and I appreciate that of those readers.

You r right but without readers the writer has Noone to write for. However if there is a reader who writes a long comment and another reader who writes great update but writer ignores long comment and says thank u to great update that's favouritism and I have seen writers do that in my opinion that discourages comments and encourages silence especially when done more than once.

We write for the readers. Some of us spend hours writing for the readers so the least the reader could do is acknowledge the writer for that with a like and a comment. I don't know what favouritism you are talking about and how you could put that accusation on any writer to be honest when you don't know if the writer is simply replying to the comments that she can in time she has. But I think the fact that a writer continues their story is enough evidence that they read all the comments and appreciate them.

But I like I said you know you can't force a reader to comment. I have already explained to one reader that because I post daily updates I am exhausted most of the time so I don't always reply to comments and the kind soul understood and said the update itself was reply enough.

But if that is how you see things then I guess whatever fanfics you read, you will just reply as you see fit. I am thankful other readers don't think like that because regardless of the fact that I haven't replied to most comments since starting my new fanfic, they still continue to comment with words of encouragement.

So for that I thank them.

Put it another way. What about those published authors? Do they reply to all their readers thanking them for buying their book and reading their story? Does that stop the reader from posting countless messages on media sites thanking the author for giving them a story they enjoyed?

No right? I rest my case. Having something like a writer not replying personally to your comment should not dictate whether you think their work should be given words of appreciation. That for me is disappointing.
