Part-17
Kalpana & Raghav reached home. While Kalpana was happy Raghav was satisfied with her improvement.
"Raghav!!" Kalpana exclaimed in excitement "Can you believe this I am all free now. No bandages and no wheel chair. God!! This is such a blissful day."
"Ya certainly it is a blissful day. After all you are a free bird now." Raghav said in a jovial manner.
They both sat together and were about to have lunch when Sammy called up. On hearing his tensed voice Raghav left for office leaving Kalpana alone to have lunch. Kalpana was disappointed, after so many days she gotta company for lunch but now its the same thing.
Raghav reached office. He knew something was wrong but what its yet to be known. He reached his cabin where Sammy was waiting for him.
"What is it?" Raghav asked curiously.
"May I know the reason behind your absence from today's meeting and please give me a different reason coz now a days you have only one KALPANA."
"Sammy today I was supposed to take her to Doc. It was a scheduled appointment." Raghav answered casually which didn't go down well with Sammy.
"Raghav I hope you know how YOU have raised this company. I hope you remember how much sweat and toil you have put into it to bring it to its current status. Coz now a days in the manner in which you are doing business I am really afraid brother it won't go for long like this. You are actually encashing your goodwill. The meeting you canceled today was the one which was scheduled way before you had taken appointment for Kalpana. If you were unable to attend it you shoud have told me atleast once I could have prepared myself but NO you didn't. Raghav I don't need to teach you how the Corporate world works. You know it better. Our loss is our rivals gain and thats what happened today. Raghav your growing negligence will give a chance to our rivals to stand against us. AND WE CERTAINLY CANNOT AFFORD IT. RIGHT!!" Sammy said infuriatingly.
Before Raghav could say anything he continued further with same attitude
"I told you its not your cup of tea. You have lead a monochromous life. You know single color no variety no ups n downs of any sort. Now that a girl has entered in your home and as well as in your life you are unable to maintain balance between peronal and professional front. Tell me wasn't it in your hands to take appointment for tomorrow? It was very well in your hands. But you forgot. Raghav I know you are THE RAGHAV SINGHANIA but don't forget everyone has right to grow and surpass the best. Its the responsibility of latter to maintain as well as enhance its standards to avoid competition. I hope I have made myself clear." Saying so Sammy stormed out of office without waiting for Raghav's response.
Raghav was shocked with Sammy's attitude. No one has ever talked with him in this manner. But then coming it from Sammy did make it reasonable to him for he knew Sammy was not kinda person to loose his cool so easily unlike him. He sat down on his chair and started remembering what all he said. Each and every word was making sense to him. It was definitely in his hands to schedule the appointment for tomorrow but he forgot. "How could I be so careless towards my business" Raghav yelled at himself and hit his fist on the table.
"Damn!! he is so right I am actually unable to maintain the balance. I had actually started encashing my goodwill. For past few days I have been ignoring my business, the business for which I have never indulged myself into anything. Is it so difficult to maintain the balance or I am an odd one out who is finding this difficult??" Raghav questioned himself.
He took deep breaths and continued "No its not. I mean Sammy maintains the balance so perfectly. He takes care of his father, spends time with Priya and manages his business as well as help me in my business too. I have to learn it. I cannot loose. No I can't. Even if its difficult I will try and will definitely emerge as a winner. Its a challenge for me and I have never ever lost any challenge. Raghav Singhnia get a grip over yourself. You cannot allow anyone not even Sammy to shout at you like this."
After convincing himself he blew the air from his mouth and began his day.
He called Pooja in his cabin and asked for all the meetings that have been scheduled up for the coming days. Pooja gave an account of the same. Raghav was working on the meetings that he has to handle personally and cannot rely on staff. He called Pooja and asked her to arrange for office meeting on immediate basis. He knew he has to make up for the loss. Before the market starts with the rumour rounds he has to bounce back.
Sammy felt relieved on seeing the same old workoholic Raghav again. He knew he was too rude and that loosing this project was not that problematic but then he had to stop this before it turns out worse for the company and more so for Raghav. He knew this business is the dream that his father had seen and for all these years he had been living this dream. He was very well aware that sooner or later Raghav will come to know that the position which he was talking about was not true and that he exaggerated the things. But he knew at this juncture the push was necessary. He smiled to himself for putting up so well before him.
Raghav discussed with Sammy which projects he will be leading so that in case under any unavoidable circumstances if he is unable to attend Sammy can do so in his behalf. He also wanted to allot the projects to the teams that they can handle by themselves and only his overview is required. The office staff was surprised to see their boss in his old avatar after a long time. The grumbled within their hearts for they didn't have the guts to say it loud.
It was 10 of night and Raghav was still working. He skipped his lunch as there was hell lot of pending work which needed to be finished within deadline. Sammy came in when he was leaving and asked watchman about Raghav and got to know that he is still there.
"Raghav I told you to be attentive but I didn't expect you to work out everything overnight"
"I know Sammy what you said in noon was an exaggerated version of the situation. But thank you. You said it on time other wise things could have slipped away from my hands." Raghv said without looking at Sammy as he was engaged in some paper work.
"Well so you got to know about it. I thought it will take time. How did you get to know. And please for once answer me properly not your usual one that I am Raghav Singhania and that nothing is impossible for me."Sammy said in a humorous tone.
"Well after meeting I worked out on the project that we have lost so that I can calculate the profit and then it wasn't difficult." Raghav answered with a smirk.
Sammy shook his head and laughed" Yea it wasn't. Sorry dude I know I was rude but I had to. I hope you are not angry on me and I hope I am still a part of this company."
"Shut up Sammy. You know this company is as much yours as it is mine. Now stop being mellow dramatic for I know that you know very well nothing of that sort is gonna happen." Raghav and Sammy laughed together.
"Raghav its late don't forget Kalpana must be waiting for you. And as per my knowledge you both have dinner together. So I guess you should call it a day."
Raghav realised that Kalpana must be waiting for him and till the time she doesn't have her dinner she cannot take her medicine. He nodded and both of them wound up the work and headed for home.
Kalpana was waiting for Raghav. She was worried coz Raghav didn't call her once nor did he take her calls. She was walking to and fro in the drawing room and was watching the wall clock every minute. It was 10:30 and she was all alone. Chef servants and Mrs Patil all had gone to their home after their hours got over. From last two hours she was all alone in the mansion. She was getting scared. She had not been alone for a second from the time she woke up in the hospital after accident and today for past two hours she is all alone in such a big house. All sort of thoughts were coming in her mind. What if somebody comes from terrace??? From whom she will cry for help?? She doesn't even know anyone over here.
"Cry and me!! No Kalpana you cannot cry. You cannot let the world know that you have lost your memory. Be strong. This was bound to happen someday then why not today. You cannot be afraid of staying alone. No you can't be weak." He heart gave her the courage but how can mind stay behind in pulling her down "Ohhh!!! Just look at the way you are talking. So what if you don't want the world to know about your truth, do you think the tresspasser will be interested in knowing whether you are hail and hearty or you are ill. Nahhh he won't. Just look at yourself your eyes are speaking for the fear that you have. Don't try to act brave when you are not. Accept the fact that when any tresspasser will come you won't be able to combat him."
" How can you think so low for her." Her heart argued "She is brave enough to stand against him. Kalpana be firm and face it."
God!! Why am I thinking so negative. It may be that nothing as such happens. And yes if something as such occurs I am all ready. I am not a coward. She again agreed with her heart.
She went to kitchen to see if she can use something for self defense. She started searching and finally found a rolling pin. "Yes!!! I will use this rolling pin for my self defense." She said to herself with a smile on lips and spark in eyes both reflecting the victory she felt in her heart on finding a weapon for her protection.
It was 11:30 she tried Raghav's no once again but he didn't pick up this time also. She was gritting her teeth in anger. "Where are you and why the hell you ain't taking my calls??" The door bell rang.
She almost ran towards the door. She looked at the screen which showed the person standing on the other side of the door. She was elated to see Raghav standing outside. She was smiling on seeing him but soon she realised that she was suppose to be angry with him coz he has not answered her calls. She quickly composed herself and opened the door. Raghav was standing on the door with a smile plastered on his face but he met with a fuming Kalpana who was all set to grill him. He tried to get in but she stopped him on door itself by pointing the rolling pin towards his abdomen. He was taken aback by her behaviour but then he chose to stay calm or rather he wasn't allowed to speak out his confusion for Kalpana had started her questionning session.
"Where were you? What kept you busy this late? Why didn't you take my calls? How can you be so irresponsible? You know very well we take dinner together and I must be waiting for you but NO I guess you didn't bother to let me know about your delay. Do you?? You could have called me atleast once!! You know for past three hours I am all alone in this house. See I have chosen this rolling pin for my self defense " Kalpana said while looking at her so called weapon. She continued "You know how..."
Raghav interrupted in between. He was in no mood to have a lecture session again. He already had one in noon and found it enough for the day. He said in a very cool tone so that it does not irtitate her futher "I am sorry. You know lot of pending work needed to be done today itself. I wanted to call you but I didn't get time. Please don't call me irresponsible. You know very well I have never been this late in these days but having said so I assure you if in future I'll be late like this I'll inform you before hand so that you can ask Mrs. Patil to stay with you. Sorry again please let me come in."
Kalpana thought for a while and asked "Promise me you will call me if you are this late."
Raghav nodded with an assuring smile and Kalpana finally allowed him to come inside his own home.
Raghav went to his room to freshen up. He recalled the whole scene that happened few minutes before. Unknowingly a smile came on his lips. Never in these years he had anyone who wait for him in his home, who gets worried if he is late and grill him before allowing him to enter in his own space. He enjoyed the feeling of being cared. Someone is worried for him,cares for him not because he is THE RAGHAV SINGHANIA but just for what he is. He knew in reality as well as in her current state Kalpana was not interested in his status.
Raghav came out of his room and found Kalpana waiting for him on dining table. "So lets eat I am very hungry."
"Raaaghav" Kalpana said in a rhyming tone " Will you eat such a thanda khana. It has been cooked almost 3-4 hours before."
Kalpana I thought you would have micro waved the food till now."Raghav said.
"How would I do it I don't know how to use it." Kalpana said innocently.
"Alright this also needs to be done. First Sammy then Kalpana and then again Kalpana. Huhhh don't know what else is left to be seen. Chalo Raghav Singhania ye bhi karo" He thought to himself.
After heating the food in micro wave both sat down again and had their dinner peacefully. In between in their usual manner they discuused each others day.
Well sometimes you tend to get carried away in certain situations or with certain people. Kalpana was one such person who had occupied Raghav's mind and heart completely these days. His focus was on her only and that made him forget his responsibilty towards his business. But then what are true friends for!! Sammy gave an alarming call to Raghav so that he gets firm on his ground before the situation gets worse. On the other hand though before loosing her memory Kalpana had lived her life alone but after the accident she was always accompanied by someone. Her fear of staying alone was somewhat not acceptable to her coz this was something which was not new to her though she had forgotten those days but still its all there in the heart. She thought to fight instead of crying which was somewhere a sign that she is coming back to her normal self.
Its a saying when you don't have anyone around God watches you personally. He sends someone for you. When Raghav had no one besides him Sammy became his anchor. He stood by him like a true friend should and now their bond is such that it cannot be expressed in words or words will fall short in defining their relationship.
Now when Kalpana became all alone since she has lost her memory Raghav came into her life. The same Raghav with whom she wasn't in good terms with. Raghav who before the accident wanted to get back to her was now taking care of her with all his heart.
Such is life strange but still beautiful.
Okay I have written this chapter with two things in mind:-
Firstly that Raghav should not neglect his b'nes as he had started doing so while taking care of Kalpana. He needs to learn the balance and secondly Kalpana cannot stay dependent on Raghav for long since she has been an independent one all through her life so now she has to learn it again.
