Part 2

The silence that fell on in the small house was deafening. Even little Aayush stopped his blabbering with Pakya and sensed that something was wrong. He walked up to his dad who was sitting crouched beside his momma on unsteady feet and clung to his neck.

It was Kamla who reacted first. She shot to her feet and ordered Pakya to take little Aayush out of here. Vitthal shoved his hand in Raghav's pocket to retrieve the car's key and went running downstairs to bring the car in the chawl's yard while kamla got a bag out which she had prepared for the delivery of Kalpi that contained bottles, towels, baby's frocks, bonnets and socks and other baby stuffs.

Raghav couldn't budge at all. He was paralyzed with dread at seeing Kalpi like this. This is what he feared! Kalpi in pain. And she was sweating a lot and pressing her lips together that it was white now. He pushed her fringes out of eyes as it clamped to her forehead.

He kissed her bent head and tried to calm her down but it was to no avail. Seemed like his voice wasn't reaching Kalpi at all. He took out his phone and called Kalpi's gynecologist to inform her of this situation. She instructed to rush Kalpi to the clinic.

"Let's go, Raghav baba! Pick her up carefully; we'll need to get her to the hospital as quickly as possible."

"no, not hospital, I've already talked to her gyneac and she's getting everything ready at the clinic. Let's go!" with as much care he could, he picked up Kalpi in his arm and rushed downstairs where everyone was already settled in his SUV.

Vitthal took the driver's seat and Pakya in the front seat. Kamla held a fretting Aayush while Raghav kept holding Kalpi's hands and soothing her with hushed words.

The contractions were spaced now and Kalpi was able to breathe a little bit. She saw how her aai was trying to make Aayush sit without reaching for his dad, how Vitthal and Pakya were discussing and giving quick, worried looks at her and then, Raghav! She smiled when she saw him. He was so worried and he was looking as if all the pain she was going through, he was the one bearing it hundred times fold. She felt a rush of love wash through her as she saw her hubby. She stroked his cheek lovingly and smiled at him and he was looking at her like he was stunned that she is managing to do this, now!

She made him bend his head and whispered in his ear "I love you so much, Raghav!"

He smiled at her and was about to kiss her but heard the ehem ehem of Pakya who, trust him, to hear even the faintest whisper around.

10 minutes later, Kalpi was rushed to the labor ward but not before raining kisses on Aayush and lots of hugs from Kamla, Vitthal and Pakya. Raghav was in the scrubbing room, getting himself ready for the delivery. He was scared, excited and apprehended what awaited him.

Here was Raghav Singhania, thought Raghav as he stood watching Kalpi on the table with six doctors and nurses, nursemaids, whom he confounded all as they wore masks, the one who was scared of injection, is going to assist the delivery of his baby.

He winced as he saw a nurse inject something to Kalpi and she didn't flinch at all, so much was her pain in her lower body. She held his hand so firmly, he knew he'll have bruises there afterwards but he didn't mind that at all. He just bent to wipe her forehead and wipe her sweats off her face and neck.

The gynaec announced that the delivery will be very soon as the baby is coming fine and at a steady rate and Kalpi will have to push very hard when she instructs her. Every time Kalpi pushed, Raghav wanted to cry for her, he couldn't bear to see Kalpi undergoing so much pain. If only he could help.

He encouraged her softly and kissed her forehead and cheeks every time she relaxed to catch her breath and it's a wonder how Kalpi each time manage to shoot him a smile. She was telling him to breathe now and then and to calm down. How could he?

Nearly forty five minutes later, the gynaec finally instructed Kalpi to push as hard as she could as the baby will be out with the final push. Kalpi did as she was told and amids her cries, Raghav's hushed voice and the gynaec's instructions came the baby. The doctor held the baby instantly and handed the babe to waiting nurse after the umbilical cord has been clipped off to be cleaned up. The wailing, piercing sound of a newborn's cry made Raghav's head shot up.

"Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Singhania. It's a lovely and beautiful baby girl for you." announced the gynaec to the parents.

"My daughter! Kalpana, our daughter is here! Oh, I love you so! Thanks my love!" Raghav couldn't resist and kissed a teary eyed Kalpi senseless.

The nurse approached the father and said: "Mr. Singhania, here's your baby." She handed Raghav a baby pink bundle.

He felt so much joy and unbound happiness as he peeped in the bundle to have a first look at his daughter. He was about to show the baby to Kalpi when the gynaec interrupted him and said "sir, we need to tend to Mrs. Singhania. You can wait in the adjacent room please."

He looked at Kalpi who nodded at him and he moved to the adjacent room where he could witness the post delivery work being done on Kalpi. His daughter in his arms! He felt a wave of love washing on him. How beautiful she was. Dark hair, same nose as Aayush, pink rosy lips, fisted rosy hands, rosy cheeks...perfect! He was amazed that this is his daughter! She was so small! He knew at that moment that nothing will ever befall his daughter, his princess, never as long as he's here.

Then, the nurse announced that Mrs. Singhania is going to be shifted to her room and he can wait for her there. He handed the baby back to her as his princess needed some post natal care. The nurse saw how anxious he was and reassured him that all was well; just to clean the baby up further, make her wear her frocks and do some formalities which will take only ten minutes at most. The baby will be back in the maternity room as soon as possible.

Raghav went out to announce the good news to his In-laws. They were so happy, ecstatic at the news that a baby girl was born. Pakya did a triumphant shout and dance and lifted Raghav up. Kamla and Vitthal hugged each other and then Kamla hugged Raghav too.

"now I know why you kept on calling Kalpi your princess." said Raghav to Vitthal. The Grandpa patted Raghav on his back and congratulated him too.

Raghav picked Aayush from Pakya who was dancing around with the kid in his arm now. His son! And now a daughter! He was so blessed!

" Aayush, now you have a little sister to play with. You'll adore her, I tell you. She's just like your aai. So sweet and very beautiful." Raghav was telling Aayush things that he knew he can't understand but he said it still.

Kalpi was shifted to her room and she was surrounded by her family. Raghav sat by her side and Kamla and Vitthal were doing a checklist of what they ned to bring more for Kalpi at the clinic while Pakya was entertaining Aayush with his weird plays.

The baby made her grand entry and Raghav handed the baby to Kalpana first as she longed to hold her newborn baby. Hot tears rolled down her cheeks when she saw her daughter.

"Our daughter, Raghav!hey little sweetheart! welcome to mamma and papa's blissful heaven! aai, so lovely she is. Just like his dad! No, don't argue Raghav, she is and no one can deny it. She's just like you." Raghav acknowledged the truth and Vitthal confirmed it too.

Kamla held the baby as Kalpi was still weak and asked the parents: "Aayush's sister, Singhania's Princess, Jadhav's pride, and her name is..."

" Kayara Raghav Singhania!" said in unison Kalpi and Raghav.
