Today not only marks the last episode of Ek Hasina Thi, but it is also the day upon which we were graced by the birth of an elegant dancer, a beautiful model and a talented actress and presenter. She may not be the biggest - but when it comes to talent she is bursting full of it! Indeed we are talking of the hasina of Ek Hasina Thi ... The petite patakha that is Sanjeeda Sheikh!
Sanjeeda's life is an example of how things don't always turn out the way you expected - sometimes they turn out even better! Born in Kuwait and schooled in Ahmedabad, she came initially to Mumbai to help out a friend and not to be an actress. However she was spotted by TV's Dame, Ekta Kapoor, and so began this reluctant debutante's journey. From the loveable and accident prone Nimmo (Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka, 2006) to the vengeful Ayesha (Kayamath, 2007) and the strong Naina (Kya Dil Mein Hai, 2008). She also took up the role of Ayesha alongside Siddharth Shukla (Jaane Pehchane Se Yeh Ajnabi, 2010) before taking the role of the naive yet domineering Sejal (Hai Padosi, 2011 and Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Laage, 2011). Sanjeeda has also done a cameo as Mahi (Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil) and also played the character of Meera (Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan, 2013) and currently she has taken on her latest avatar as the powerful Durga Thakur seeking justice for her sister Payal against the powerful Goenkas (Ek Hasina Thi, 2014). Thus Sanjeeda has shown her versatility and desire to play a wide range of memorable roles garnering recognition and awards. She received the best negative actress for her role as Ayesha in Kayamath in 2008 (Gold Awards), the favourite behen and naya sadasya (female) for Durga in 2014 (Star Parivaar). Alongside this she received the most stylish female, again for Durga Thakur (Star Parivaar 2014) and also bagged the great performer of the year for the same role in the ITA 2014 awards.
But Sanjeeda's talent has gone beyond the TV screens as she has acted in films too! She had a cameo as Neeli in the popular 2003 film Bhagbhan sharing screen space with the Shahenshah of Bollywood: Amitabh Bachchan. She has also played Priya in Ponniyan Selvan (2005) and Kusum in Pankh (2010). Sanjeeda has also acted in Johnny Mastana (2011) and will be seen in Second Hand Husband (2015) alongside Grippy Grewal.

When mentioning Sanjeeda, it would be inadmissible to not mention dance! Dance has always been an integral part of Sanjeeda's life and even her fitness mantra to stay slim and toned while being able to eat whatever she likes! She never misses a day of dancing. Dance brought her to Mumbai, to help her friend set up a dance school and to teach fusion dance, and it has continued to run through her career. She has been lauded by Saroj Khan, Vaibhavi Merchant and even the dancing queen herself Madhuri Dixit as she danced her way to winning the Nach Baliye 3 Title with her adorable Baliye Amir Ali in 2007. They both then presented Nach Baliye 4 (2008) for a few episodes before being seen competing against each other in the popular season 2 of Zara Nachke Dikha in 2010. Sanjeeda is a frequent performer in award ceremonies and televised shows like Ajay Devgan's Ram Leela (as Surpanakha) where she effortlessly dances a variety of styles from classical to hip hop! Is there a style she cannot do?
Sanjeeda has also found success in her personal life too, as she married her husband and Baliye Amir Ali on 2nd March 2012. Not only do the two look adorable together but they make a perfect dancing pair too!
🥳So let us all wish this talented hasina on her birthday so that she not only has a brilliant day but a future filled with happiness, love and success!🥳
