A super human girl would have stood that assault from Sakshi or realistically would have thought of discussing it with Nithya. But she couldn't. She didn't think through the consequences of changing the statement and when the reality stuck her it was far too late. Exploitation of rape victim was perfectly shown and Payal actually fell for that exploitation. Society does that exploitation and EHT through Payal had given one of the strongest message is that let whatever be the circumstance but never ever admit in court a rape was consensual.

You may win or loss. Battle may be hard. But it is far better to preserve the dignity of your stand than give in to any kind of pressure. Because if you the victim crumble you are indirectly helping the perpetuator who has ruined you.

I completely agree with the statement that Payal's character and the entire humiliation she underwent we portrayed naturally. We hear of a lot of women who in the end, completely defer from their claim of rape and say that it was consensual. Sometimes because of manipulation and sometimes because of exploitation. Payal was shown to be a happy and emotionally secure girl who underwent trauma as hideous as it ever could be, and could not stand to tell the tale. Which is what happens normally with women. Like they say - you are raped once by the rapist, then by the police, then by the doctors, and then by the courtroom justice. Not many can stand the entire way.

Anu your post was written really well and I agree. I liked the exploration of all the characters. Shame they can't continue and do it really well. They had lots of avenues to explore but nope. That won't happen now.

I must say I hold your posts in high regard. And sorry but I am rather sensitive when it is about rape. Please excuse me for getting shocked by your posts.

I agree with you but my point is that situation is not one where victim thinks rationally. She was just terrified at the threat. It came right after character assassination and being cheated by trusted friends. Her life was crashing in front of her eyes.

So I do not blame her for not thinking through.

It is her family at fault for leaving her alone in such a crushed state. The Mitra parents shock me! Both girls were literally on their own.

@SurrelFantasy

The fairer sex is sometimes implicitly trusted. Or bashed. Fact is they are as dangerous or genuine as anybody else. It's high time they were not caricatured.
This forum is comparatively more free and open but it does have instances of member conflicts.

Thank you for responding. 😊

Anu, I have no words to describe how beautifully you have written. I agree with you complelty. Though there are many glitches in the implementation of the concept, I would like to oversee them for the sole reason of this concept of revenge from a female. That too an aggressive one in the form for Durga.

In order to keep themselves in the race of TRP they have included/ butchered many characters and introduced some lame plots which are absolutely unconvincing. I am patting myself and saying that we got to see the characters wonderfully enacted by Simone, Ayub, Sanjeeda, Bhupinder etc who actually made us stick to this serial. To a certain extent I like Vatsal too( It became too repititive and hence cannot blame the actor)

I have nothing more to add to what Anu has said. These imperfections of human nature and the depiction of it in the most convincing way has make EHT Stand apart from the remaining chart busters. Atleast there is some satisfaction that there is a group of viewers who would like to see these kind of revenge series.

Also, as I understand the show will have its last episode on 20th December which means we have exactly one month to relish and I hope they do justice in this one month.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the posts here and hats off to all your analysis and creativity in various forms.

Thank you Remya.😊 You comment rarely. So seeing you here is nice.

Yes the concept on paper was brilliant. Its brilliance often got marred by unnecessary dragging and glaring loopholes. But as attempt it was good.

I do hope for a better end as well.

Anu Awesome post

We talk abt it everyday but u have worded it beautifully ...

Every person has facets to them both good n bad ..it's the circumstances That decide which one overrules the other

Kudos to the team n ESP Simons Singh for portraying it so brilliantly

I know you did not agree with some of my posts. That's fine as all are entitled to their opinion. I thank you for reading posts whether you agree or not. Much appreciated.

Yes will miss this forum. And the show. Few shows inspire such intense discussions as this did!

Very well said. they really did try to step out of the stereotypes and portrayed an arc as you said for each of their key characters...all the shades and layers that they explored really painted a persuasive picture of how a descent into the dark side is socially constructed -- and how it intersects in unpredictable ways with personal traits which too are magnified or fanned by choices made, circumstances experienced and the networks and relationships one becomes a part of.

Its almost like this was a short novel, a book, expressed on film. The writers really "heard" their characters, listened to them between the lines, as Mike Nichols, who passed away yesterday said of the power of crafting characters in theater. EHT was a bit like that. Meaning got built up by things beyond the words. The strongest characters, e.g., Sakshi, forced us to listen between the lines.

And yes, the things they explored, and how they explored them were refreshingly new.
