Anu this is my answer. It comes from reading one of the book Chanakya Chant and I guess whatever is written there is true in every field. Maybe business, politics, sports, arts everywhere. In nutshell it talks about Saam, Daan dandh, bedh( Peace, charity, punishment and finally conquering). War or conquest is always termed last when all other options fail.
In other words with your opponent you need to see whether there is an option of peace, if giving him something you can win them, punishing is fine and if nothing works go all out for war.
Though these things looks simple when to apply what matters most. And what is your motive for applying those. Chanakya applied all these and made Chandragupta a king. If you read the book you will understand that all his ways were not right. He used manipulation at every point. But he did unite a fragmented country under Chandragupta.
If you look at Krishna in MB his methods during war were also not correct. But then for the victory of dharma he had to apply those.
My take is this. If you are dealing with adharma it is impossible to win with using just dharma. How can you tell I will hit only from front , if your enemy is hell bent on hitting you from behind.
Having said that you need not always kill and mutilate to find your way on the top. There are other ways also. If you cultivate good relations and use them in the right way giving and taking respect you can reach top.

@rutu
Gandhi has his share of controversies though he is cleaner compared to others.

@shrutiravi

It is not about adharma. In general I was asking, is it not possible to achieve powerful, influential status and success without somewhere being deviant?
Also why can successful people not keep morals and ethics intact? Why do they end up doing corrupt and even criminal acts? And then they rush to cover up cases!

@Anu I don't think you have to do corrupt or criminal acts to reach top. But moral and ethics I am not sure how to tell about it.Because on your way up you encounter many type of people. In dealing with some people sometimes you have to use certain methods which if you look from the theortical perspective of morality and ethics may not be correct.
But if you don't use that these people can put you down. And a person with a good vision and a capability to do good things does not reach a position of authority his goodness and capability is of no use to anyone.
So tact and some deviant methods will have to be used to get past certain people as way upwards is always a tough thing and the position is always wanted by people who are corrupt and criminals for their own selfish purpose.
Many a times we lose out on good people is because theortical perspective of ethics and morals ensure that good people don't use deviant methods hence they will be unable to find their voice in the nexus of evil people. As evil people will always gang up

powerful without being deviant

Yaha Third World countries ki baat kaha se aa gayi ?😆

I dont wish to talk about it more than it deserves. its just not worthy to talk about it. One may please refer to History before making such bogus comparison.

Now @ topic.

Some of the controversies that hit the headlines are true news but some are created for publicity.

' Jab log burai kare to samajh lo tarakki kar rahe ho'- This dialogue from Guru will explain it all.

Media is hugely responsible for such manipulative truths.

An opportunity for debate wasted in racist comment.
Ah yes Shruti, people have to use tact. But there is thin line between tact and trickery.

I agree Debs, mant scandals are fabricated too for defaming someone. Not all are true. But then famous people hide behind this excuse to cover up many wrong things they did.

It is a complicated situation.

A Very good post Anu,

Like someone said in a show, Aggar Taakat se itna mohabbat karoge, then there could many chances of being inconsiderate and insensitive to others feelings.

There may be people who may rate low on a scale when it comes to being in power and compromising on morality to a very less extent.

Like wanting to show themselves important by cheating, buying the media or authorities, yet not harm others much. (it may vary case to case)

Like there is a movie or a show where it becomes a success with the contribution of almost the entire cast and the crew, but some one wants to take all the success by portraying themselves as best in media etc and the others may not actually get bothered with this to interfere or intervene. I mean it could be a small thing.

And there could be another case where a person bribes for a seat and gets it and a deserving candidate may not get his chance. But then that deserving candidate might have got somewhere else and no harm done.

The examples may go one and these people who want to show themselves as important, may really not want to cause a real harm to people and especially not in the extremes like the Goenka trio.

Even the Goenka trio, Sakshi or Rajnath may have devious methods to come into power yet may not resort to killing or ruining the lives of the people unless it is necessary. I mean go to that extent. But Shaurya, he would do anything just for the sake of fun and his amusement. All the three are evil, but Shaurya is the worst as he does not do this things for power but for his amusement.

So the question would be, could I seek power and compromise on morality if I believe it would not cause a real harm to any particular individual (of course here the definition of harm would be my own on what I chose to see as real harm )

If we go back to mythology, could we call Rama a powerful person as he is known for his virtue?

Coming back to EHT, could we call Dev / Suchitra as powerful people - I mean they are equally rich and they are the Goenkas . when it comes to a war betweent the Goenkas, they may be totally without power, the way Sakshi trapped Dev and put him behind bars rendering everyone helpless. But outside the family, would Dev and Suchitra be considered as powerful people just like Rajnath and Sakshi Goenka. Dev and Suchitra dont look the types of compromising on morality especially if it were to harm some one.

And what about people like Dr; Thakur (I mean if we were to forget for a moment the dumb way he or Durga act when it comes to confronting or framing Sakshi, They could have shown it better but unfortunately did not, )

Its a very good post Anu and a very nice topic to discuss.

But I am really sorry if I messed it up by not being able to express properly?

It's all MONEY. Money makes you more greedy and selfish. You feel that now you can solve "ANY" problem on Earth. You're that powerful. Nothing can touch you without your permission. Hence you take the powers granted.
These so-called powerful people need to realize there is a life after death where your good deeds will reward you not your "MONEY".
