GEC Watch: Star Plus leads with record margin; Life OK inches closer to Colors

Star Plus' weekday primetime viewership becomes more than that of Zee and Colors put together in Week 18 of TAM 2014

BestMediaInfo Bureau | Delhi | May 8, 2014

IPL continued to make a dent the viewership of Hindi general entertainment television in its third week. While Zee TV and Colors faced the maximum heat, Star Plus, Life OK and SAB managed to add a few eyeballs.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 18 of TAM 2014 (April 27 - May 3) for CS 4+, HSM markets, the pecking order of Hindi GECs remained unchanged. Retaining the top slot with a huge margin of 334 TVM, Star Plus had a relative share of over 30 per cent this week. Not only this, the channel's weekday primetime viewership was more than the combined total of Zee and Colors put together.

Life OK's growth and Color' decline brought both the channels at a kissing distance having a difference of 36 TVM.

Star Plus recorded a gross viewership of 746 TVM this week. The relative share of Star Plus grew to 30.21% (last week 743 TVM with 29.51% relative share).

Zee TV lost maximum eyeballs this week and the channel dropped to 409 GTVM with a relative share of 16.57% (last week 445 TVM and 17.67% relative share).

Colors slipped below 400-mark and registered a gross viewership of 396 TVM and a relative share of 16.04% (last week 423 TVM with 16.80% relative share).

Life OK strengthened its position at No. 4 by adding 10 TVM to its gross viewership. The channel recorded a GVTM of 360 TVM and a relative share of 14.58% (last week 350 TVM and 13.90%).

Sony's gross viewership was recorded at 291 TVM with a relative share of 11.79% (last week 297 TVM and 11.80% relative share).

SAB TV recovered a little this week and added a few eyeballs to reach at 267 TVM. The channel's relative share grew to 10.81% (last week 260 TVM and 10.33% relative share).

(Relative share among Star Plus, Colors, Zee TV, Life OK, SAB and Sony.)
