\Completely agree... he thought to ask his father first because he wanted to avoid complications in Suman's life especially... first time when he want to propose he know his father will not have any problem (though that was not the case as he saw NJ nirmala in sumo since the beginning) but today the equation between them changed hence his father not approve or may approve but not happily according to him.. so he thought of taking his approval first than later as at the end of day he has to take permission if now sumo is not have to face any pain of rejection but if after there are chance of rejection of this relation from his father which painful and he did not want to give that pain to sumo...
Yes he is a straightforward guy who wants a happy married life for Sumo as well...so without putting her under the pressure of his dad's anger...he went ahead with taking the pain all upon himself
If his father rejected Sumo...he will face the heart break but, Sumo will not have to go through this despair
He did the best thing under the circumstances...at least one of them could be saved from darkness and gloom if his father rejected his proposal
