Shravan Malhotra.
A man of character to say the least.
This man and CVS have proved to us time and time again of their consistency and character.
Yes, Shravan is human. He has made mistakes as well. He has his flaws, his insecurities, and vulnerabilities, but he also has his good characteristics.
Those that we love. And from time to time remember and applaud him for because he, as a character deserves it.
To label Shravan's actions as mind games is absolutely and completely insulting to both Shravan's character and the CV's. Because no, Shravan's actions, especially when Suman is involved cannot be classified as MIND GAMES. It's mind boggling to me to even think as such.
Mind games would be for those male leads we have seen in several other shows who purposely lead the girl they "love", manipulate her, hurt her and insult her. And once they are done they walk way. That's mind games. When an individual purposefully wants to use the other person for their selfish intent.
Mind games are FAR from what Shravan has for Suman.
Unconditional love, support, and faith can be a few terms/actions that are better to describe Shravan's motives for Suman.
Not mind games. Mind games are the LAST LAST LAST thing he'd do, especially with Suman. His relationship with her is invaluable to him. He wouldn't do anything purposely to hurt that relationship.
What Shravan did was breathtakingly beautiful.
That was his love.
The fact that he used this opportunity, this promise he had where she couldn't say no to what he asked of her was more heartbreaking. Because he still is that insecure teenager from ten years ago when it comes to her. He loves her so much that he just cannot take her rejection. He used this instance to guarantee that he would have this friendship that is so dear to him.
Why did he say friendship, instead of love?
Because for him, it's love. But he doesn't know that Suman does in fact love him as well. It's just a thought that has not occurred to him, because it's so far beyond what he believes could happen. Because how could he even believe that?
They have been apart for ten years. With no contact, whatsoever. How can he come to believe that in the ten years, in which they have had no contact, no chance for him to see her mature, that she feels the same for him as he does for her? I just don't. Because also the last time he spoke to her, his heart was so broken. He didn't have any basis to believe that she could feel like that for him too.
And being the person Shravan is, he would never impose his feelings on Suman, especially knowing how she's like he can't risk heartbreak again. Not with her. The one person he cares for much for and needs in his life.
His actions more than anything speak what words CANNOT DO JUSTICE TO.
Two instance that were underplayed in the episodes but are so critical and that especially proves the immense value of Suman in his life are:
1)The terrace scene where he jokingly tells her that he needed his one friend that he trust to have his back defend him in front of the the people that said stupid things to him in London. Like that. His expressions there and the way he was just looking at her. It so beautiful. Because Suman is his only true friend. The person he used to rely on for support. He wants that friend back. He wants to have that dynamic back, and now when he sees and understands that this Sumo (a much more matured woman who will no longer take him and his feelings for granted) will return that friendship with equal respect.
2) In today's episode, I don't know if you realized but at the rickshaw scene when he tells her what he said to his family, and she in a very confused state says friends, the panic that was so clear in his expressions and body were heartbreaking. And then when he immediately brought up how she promised him she wouldn't deny his request, my heart just couldn't. Because she MEANS SO MUCH TO HIM that he used that one promise to make sure she wouldn't deny him their friendship. The fact that he loves her so much and can't handle not having her in his life that he is willing to suppress his feelings just so that he can still have her as a friend says it all.
Another instance that just shows Suman's importance in his life is that he stayed back for her despite letting her know specifically even going as far as showing her the ticket back to London, he stayed. He stayed for her. To support her and stand by her when she needed him. If that's not love, I don't know what is. The fact that he didn't stay when his father, the man he loves and respects so deeply pleaded him to stay. When Pushkar, the brother he loves and cares for so deeply begged him to stay.
But yet, for Suman. He stayed. He couldn't leave her knowing that he could help her in a situation where she needed him.
Shravan, being the character he is, has shown endlessly support for Suman, even when the one time he needed her most, she left his side.
He never did.
He never has.
And he never will.
Because that is the man he is. His love for her overpowers everything.
