im just surprised with the character of suman
hadnt seen such a fresh, strong, real female character in television except for samaira
im just loving her character
cvs went out of normal way and made such a strong female lead where as being so real and raw unlike some female characters where being strong means shouting on top of there voice, being hypocrites with double standards and most imp mahan ta ki murtis who cries 24/7 where as suman is such an breath of fresh air
im really impressed with sumans character
dont know why is everyone upset with her
i didnt watch shw frm starting just had seen a summed up whole story episode
so may be im liking her more than shravan

For me, Sumo is more multi-layered, complex, a kind of mysterious guarded person who isnt bothered about keeping up with the superficialities any longer. Pushkar said it beautifully, when he pointed out that there are people who will first start the conversation with a hello and observing niceties of behaviour. Here, we have a woman who has simply outgrown them or has somehow has kept them repressed for long. It is strange and I must say, a brilliant direction on the part of CVs to depict a woman who must have gone through various trials and tribulations in her life to become immune from keeping up with her image. The young Sumo who was so bothered with maintaining appearances cares two hoots about it now. Shravan's character has been charted to us, we know he loved her and to a large extent still does. But, I guess if they reveal the background story of Suman's past much of what we find fascinating about Shravan's character might be trivialized. Sumo committed a mistake.. we have understood that Shravan went through a lot of pain because of that incident. And we all feel for him in spite of him becoming a judge of all. But, Sumo what did she do after that callous mistake? How did she pass her ten years? Why didnt she give a call, post a message to Shravan even once in ten years. These reasons will eventually be untangled in the times to come and make us realize that there is more to hurt, humilation, wrongs being perpetrated on others (intentionally or otherwise). And that is love.
I am waiting eagerly for Sumo's past, her life.. a journey which will make these two characters come closer and realize their love for each other.
She seems so much in the mould of the 'Mayor' , the protagonist of Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge. One wrong which will define or re-dfine her life.
Though it is easier to fall in love with Shravan, I find Sumo refreshing, an enigmatic character. She is lovable yet not sugary sweet. And I must add both of these character are being well--etched by Nimik and Nikita

I think so far Shravan's character was shown in a way that the audience starts liking him..unlike other shows start with the story of heroine who is caring, loving, great, respecting others, having lots of values, ready to sacrifice for everybody..here this stereotype is not present in this show..so the audience got a jhatka for not seeing a typical female lead..though Shravan's all actions should not be completely supported but his revealed past memories are somehow helped us to understand his action..but we have not yet seen Sumo's past memories completely..what she has gone through all these 10 years..after we come to know all these we must start loving her as well..

Can't say about sumo much coz still we haven't seen her story but we are seeing shra story ..
about respect of others and elders shra has lovely family who supprts her father Pushkar chachu is there but sumo has family who always busy in saying about loan and repayment except nanu and dabbo so how can she respect family and relations like that..Even if we hear same thing again and agaian how can we treat that person with love and respect...mami at time of fight missing blames her that she was lying ...So faith and respect in such relations never exists and becomes like that...when shra left she lost a friend and realize her mistake but it's too late..I think she never shares her heart with anyone all within her which makes her like that...rest Cvs will show ...

I think the best part is that both Shravan and Sumo are flawed characters instead of the typical
sacrificing ones.

Sumo was a brat who gave importance to her image like most teens are when she was a teen and took complete advantage of her friend.
It took losing him to understand his value.
She has come a long way from that girl, she grew out of that. She is not perfect and gives self
respect the maximum value because of the way she has been brought up. She expected Shravan to forgive her easily, and its quite shocking that he is very different from the boy she knew.
Shravan was a nerdy geek who cared a lot for Suman who loved her and instead of standing up for himself he let her walk all over him, because he was afraid that she will not be his friend anymore.
The distance between him and Suman has worked for him, he has become confident and knows what he is capable of but that confidence a;so has made him a lot more cynical. He has to realize that
Sumo is not that girl anymore.

A sensible mature person would've seen that her actions still are remembered by him, even if he says he's moved on. What kind of self-absorbed person doesn't have the SENSE and brain to see that clearly he has not forgiven her for what happened. Moved on, okay. Maybe that part she could take as true (which I think he had been trying to do, not in terms of carrying the issue in his heart, but in terms of trying not to have to deal with her).

But anyone who is empathetic would realize that he has not forgiven her and still holds a grudge against her for what she did.

This is how immature and self-absorbed she is. That after seeing how well he remembers the house, seeing him looking at the pictures, her even thinking to herself that he remembers everything but her, this girl acts so childish as to remove one of the chess pieces from the board, encroaching on what was between Nana and Shravan. Encroaching on the good faith their sportsmanship was based on. Sure Shravan noticed, but the point is, that instead of realizing and feeling bad that her actions have hurt him and he is holding it against her, and pondering on that, she is more preoccupied with the fact that she has to deal with the embarrassment of his ignoring her. She should've been feeling bad and thinking of ways to talk to him and apologize instead of her shenanigans.

And she finally says sorry after seeing him ignoring her fully on the walk to the car. Just because he brushes it off, doesn't mean a thoughtful person wouldn't realize they should shut up. But no, she feels the need to not get her ego hurt and protect herself and says those words. Which, the fact that she said it, and going by her actions and lack of sense regarding this, shows that she probably never did and still doesn't realize the full gravity of what she did. (After all, she writes a sorry note with a smiley face.)

What Shravan did to her at the party was wrong. She is right to be angry and lashing out. But she is not having the high ground here. If she has apologized and acknowledged her mistakes along with telling their relationship now has been settled--THAT would've shown she gets it. It's not about introspection, when he states straight up the reason he did what he did, when he points out her actions which led to this, then yeah along with being angry at him and not forgiving him for his actions, typically mature people also still realize their part and will acknowledge their wrongs as well. It is not a matter of deep introspection. It was clearly laid out to her by him.

I don't have any issue with Suman as that is her character. But that doesn't that I should ignore that indeed this is her character, or rather how she's coming off. Pushkar keeps saying she's changed, but honestly I don't think she has changed after thinking about it. Her circumstances and reality changed. But her personality has not changed much. She probably found out about the loan, etc and has made it her goal to pay the family back. But her personality is still very much similar to the egotistical personality she had as a teenager.

My only issue is that perhaps the writers haven't thought about this and think that whatever her explanation is--that she's been waiting for him all this time to apologize(?)--is going to cure it all. It's not. Even if she was planning to apologize, she clearly misread the situation and has never been shown properly dwelling on her actions. I wouldn't be surprised if the show doesn't even address this.

I think it's too early to say anything about characters, like you said you don't get her completely , we still don't know what happened to suman in those 10 years.
if you ask me I find both leads very intense in their own way, they both are fighting their own demons, remember how Shravan's mother left him we don't know that story completely as well or why suman's mother took a loan of 20 lacs because of which suman's present life is in turmoil.Remember what pushkar told shravan that did you know what happened to suman in last 10 years.

Btw this is Mallu.

takecare.

Hi KK,

Couldn't have said it any better. You post summarizes most of my posts on Suman and why it's hard to warm up to her. I don't have much to add but say BINGO to all of it especially the bolded bits.

@Red: THIS. She's way too immature to understand how negatively she impacted on Shravan in their past. Definitely lacks the introspection and empathy like you said.

@Blue: Perfect. After reading the spoilers post the party night, that is what I was expecting from her. Too bad she disappointed me with her same old self centered self. And that too after being shown the mirror by Shravan himself. She's still way too thick to even grasp that. SMH.

@Pink: You have resonated my thoughts. Her core personality hasn't changed at all. Only thing that differs is her sense of responsibility towards her mom. Otherwise I find her same. Bossy, loud, immature, self centered who lacks empathy big time. Her actual personality only gets masked by her mousy side when it comes to her family (except Nanaji) who can make her run for her own money...😆

P.S: Seeing my post, I should have just highlighted your entire comment...😆

Hello, Fiery. I caught up with this show last weekend and came on the forum last week. Now will let episodes build again. I will binge watch again in two weeks and show up here then too, that is if the show is still worth watching. 😆Didn't know you were already here, saw you on this thread.

Word to all you say. I too figured after the party she probably would acknowledge and apologize for her callous behavior even while she holds him to task for his actions. But no... Anyway I don't have an issue with the egotistical personality and her lack of realization after the party--just don't pretend or try to push through she is something that she is not, or bring some lame explanation of her troubles and her waiting for Shravan and how Shravan has completely misunderstood her.🥱
