Yesterday, this blog was cribbing about the overdose of Ramayana analogies in a couple of episodes. Guess that was an instantaneous reaction that spurts from our love for the show and the uniqueness of Saba Mumtaz's storytelling.
Today, we are here to eat humble pie and take back our words.
Ek Boond Ishq, episode 73 makes one realize why this show is so brilliant and unique. It has mastered the art of creating magic on screen, especially the small screen.
Each scene flows effortlessly into the other just like notes on a piano. There are no unnecessary kinks as the story is woven into such a fine tapestry that nowhere does one lose continuity or the essence of each character's unique dimensions.
It's also interesting that no character is one-dimensional in Ek Boond Ishq and each character is multi-dimensional, with their own peculiar quirks and traits. There is so much of depth in character sketching that one looks forward with surprise as to what the character would do next. It's neither predictable nor cliched.
The humour, the romance, the tense storyline everything is sharply etched and flows as a cohesive whole. It's not like inane comedy scenes are injected into the story just to as a stop-gap or just as a space-filler. Humor has it's own place in moving the story and is absolutely natural and not put on.
In Ek Boond Ishq, the makers have not resorted to any shortcuts by putting inane comic elements and have retained a sense of reality with the humour being subtle and sweet, which leaves the audience wanting for more.
The evenly paced doses of romance in the Mrityunjay-Tara lovestory are adding a buoyancy to the strong storyline and Ek Boond Ishq is emerging as one of the few serials on the Indian television firmament to boast of creativity and innovative story devices.
