'I am bouncing back slowly': Avinash

The actor has just made an entry in the show Durgesh Nandini.

Avinash Wadhawan is reliving his movie days on the small screen. Well, literally! The actor has just made an entry in the show Durgesh Nandini . And guess what? The two actresses in the show have been his heroines in the past. Rinku Ghosh, who plays the title role, and he did a Bhojpuri film called Suhaagan Bana De Sajna Hamaar a few years ago. So also the other actress in Durgesh Nandini , Varsha Usgaonkar and he have done three Hindi films — Ghar Aaya Mera Pardesi, Parwane and Shoharat .

Says Avinash, "We've also done a comedy play Devdas Ki Paro , where I played a modern day Devdas and she, my naughty Paro. My role in the TV serial is that of a playboy. So, playing a flirt for me was easy with Varsha. I'm happy to be acting with my ex-heroines. There's always a comfort level. In fact, I felt very much at home when I first went on the sets," he says.

Apart from this TV show, Avinash is doing a few regional films, including a Punjabi and a Bhojpuri film. His career in Bollywood, despite quite a few movies, did not take off, but the actor is hopeful.

"At that time, around 1999-2000, I was going through some personal crisis. When you are going through an emotional upheaval, you can't concentrate on your career. And in this industry you have to be on your feet all the time," says the actor, who went through a divorce a few years ago.

But life's looking up for him now. "I got married again in 2003. My wife Natasha is a software engineer. Life's good today. Workwise too, things are getting better. I want to do good work in movies as well as on TV. I am bouncing back slowly," he smiles.
