'Acting stirs me from within'

Interview: Anuj Saxena
Actor, director, head of a pharmaceutical company and now a producer, Anuj Saxena is a man of a multifaceted profile. An actor who would always be remembered for his role in Kkusum is now trying his hand over new things. Viresh Verma gets up close and personal with this maverick actor to track his future plans.

Q. So, Anuj, what's keeping you busy these days?
A. Oh, there are so many things. My production house Maverick, fairness cream Fair One brand ambassador responsibilities, business and of course my forthcoming film Dulha Mil Gaya which Maverick is presenting.

Q. How do you manage to take care of your business and television career both?
A. It is a matter of time management, right delegation of work to right people and being passionate about what I do.

Q. What acting means to you?
A. Acting is a creative outlet cum passion. I love it too much. It stirs me from within.

Q. What are the kinds of roles that you really aspire for? Is there anything you'd like to do but hasn't come your way yet?
A. I want to do a hard-core negative role and also a comedy as I haven't done it before. Every actor wants to do different kinds of roles. Variety is the spice of life.

Q. How are you different from your reel life character?
A. On the sets in front of the camera I am an actor. Otherwise I am a very normal human being who is a perfectionist and loves what he does and does what he loves. I am a chilled out person.

Q. How are you as a person?
A. I am a positive and a practical individual. I take things in my stride most of the times with a smile. I can disconnect from things, situations and experiences and can move on fast. I am sentimental but not for everything and everyone. I am an ambitious person who feels there is a lot to be done and the journey has just begun.

Q. Tell us more about the story and starcast of your debut film?
A. Dulha Mil Gaya is an interesting film. It stars Sushmita sen, Shahrukh Khan and Fardeen Khan. 65% film is complete. It is a unique story and it is shaping quite well. A lot of it has been shot in Trinidad and Tobago, which look beautiful.

Q. Why have you gone easy on acting in serials? In the last two years you have not been seen much on television?
A. It is a deliberate attempt. I am quite busy with the production house, my Pharma business, restaurant Blue Waters so there is no time for a daily soap, which requires a lot of daily hours. There have been couple of offers for TV but I chose not to take up because of time constraints. Moreover I want to see myself on the big screen soon.

Q. Are you looking at working in a serial in the near future?
A. I am open to the idea. I believe "Never say Never". The role has to be something extra-ordinary to make me take out time from busy life. I want to act in films and that is a goal I am working on.

Q. Lastly, why and how you decided to become model for your own company's fairness cream?
A: Well, why not? We were thinking of a celebrity to endorse the brand, and someone from my team suggested me. We all thought over it very seriously and finally a consensus was reached.... why not? And that's how it all happened
