TOI:Chhavi is back on television

Actress Chhavi Mittal is back in front of the camera after being on a maternity break since 2012. Last seen hosting 'Chhote Miyan', she has replaced Neha Marda to play Urmi in 'Doli Armaanon Ki'.
Says the actress, "I am returning to the fiction genre after three years. I was on a maternity break and wanted to spend time with my daughter, who is two-and-a-half years old now. It worked out just perfectly with this show. My character is crucial to the storyline, and it's already so popular that it has come to me on a platter. My only challenge is to establish myself after stepping into the earlier actress' shoes as audiences connect her face to the name. I have to now take it a notch higher."


Neha quit the show because she didn't want to play mother to a 28-year-old Shaurya (Mohit Mallik). Does that worry Chhavi? "I never worry about the age of the character. What I take into consideration is how challenging the role is, the set up and the production house. Since an actor ends up spending more time on the set than home, I would not want to get up cribbing about work. I was offered shows, which interested me, but I didn't take them up as the sets were located on the outskirts of the city. The idea of leaving my baby at home, wasn't feasible to me; in fact, it isn't even now," she says, adding, "I played a mother to a six-year-old in Ek Chutki Aasman, which I wasn't in real life back then. Now that I am one, the emotions and feelings come naturally to me. For a mother, her child remains a child no matter how much he grows."
