Expectations & Standards set by DDEJ

I still look back at the first episode and get shivers down my spine. This show has set such high standards right from the beginning that sometimes feeling let down is highly normal. However, the foundation is so strong that no matter how many storms come its way, the show does not lose its dynamic.

Today, I want to talk about what my expectations are from this show and what attracts me towards Raghu and Antara's love story.

This all starts from Kashmir, where Dr. Kaul and his family resides. This gentleman has lived his life with his strong beliefs and ideologies, which he has also embedded in his family. You see Antara, who is in a musical band and had many fatwas issued against her yet she still continues to perform. She is just like her father, fearless. She is not scared to stand up for what she believes is right. This is the Antara, who I want to see when she discovers the ugly truth of Daya Maiye. This is the Antara, who I want to see come support Raghu, who would be devastated by the betrayal of DM. This is the same Antara, who I want to see stand up against DM for her love, Raghu. Heck this is the Antara I want to see fight against Satya!

Then you see a lifeless gangster, Raghu, who is living for the sake of breathing. He lost his mother and is indebted to DM for raising him. He has no purpose in life, but to be the right hand of DM. He finally finds love in his life and a reason to live - Antara. Lekin destiny plays a cruel game yet again with him. The pain, the suffering is hard to imagine, but there is one quality that I always admired in him and Machmach also mentioned it - whomever Raghu loves he puts them on a high pedestal. This is exactly how he treats Antara. She is his life. I know he is a fighter and he will protect Antara through out. I want to see that junoon (that fire) in him to win his love back. No No he can never let that Satya have his Antara! He will get her back!

Till now we saw the funny, tom&jerry, innocent, adorable Raghu and Antara.. but now its time to see the intense, serious, passionate Rantara. I want to see falling in love phase again, but now with different equations between the two. I want to see a lot of intense romance that may be possible now. Whenever I think of Do Dil Ek Jaan, i put them above heer ranjha, romeo juliet... I keep saying this, but they love each other so much that no phattu sattu can come in their way.. Their love story is legendary in its own way.

Now did I want to see a marriage track with satya and antara? well certainly no. I think its one of the biggest mistakes, but is it too soon to judge? Yes, we haven't even seen the episode and we are jumping to conclusion soo soon. Lets be patient and see what is stored for us. Keep some faith in the writers. I hope I dont have to bear Satya or Ruksana angle too much either because as Rantara fans we can only tolerate so much. I think the writers will have to be extremely careful here since too much focus on Satya could lead to disinterested audience. This is a competitive time slot and they are going to have to show Rantara scenes as I cant imagine this show surviving on solely Satya and DM pathetic plotting everyday. Audience would get bored.

Now in the midst of all this, I dont want creatives to forget this angle. This is related to the ongoing tensions in Kashmir and how the lives of the locals living there are impacted by the terrorist groups and constant war between the army and terrorism. (watch the video below) It is one of the most powerful sequences in Do Dil Ek Jaan and not many have seen this as it was in the beginning. I highly recommend that one watches this. This song comes right after Dr. Kaul and his family escape a close call with terrorists. You know there is so much of content in this show that can be explored. I want to see what role DM played in what went on in Kashmir. How is she associated with the terrorist group? Does she also know Dr. Kaul? Why did she send only Raghu? What will happen when Antara finds out the truth? What will happen when she tells Raghu the truth of DM? How will they get justice? How will it be the end of DM? What happened to Raghu's father? How will Raghu save Antara from Satya?

Furthermore, these two pious were never meant to meet, it was destiny that steered them into that direction and even though it seems that fate is rifting them apart again, they are still in each others orbits, with Raghu seemingly always on the look out for Antara and her well being,

I am going back to what Raghu said last wednesday, "I'm Mr Kaul and you are Ms Naik" and then corrected himself saying "Mrs Naik". Pershaps it means that she would have to be in a pretend marriage with Phattu before fully being with Raghu Naik?
