Something Borrowed, Something Blue.
It was all there today. A much better episode. Everything can be viewed through what we already know.
Something Old : Sandy was forced to speak to Ankur today. She does have family and we were reminded that she has that link. Was Suraj covering all bases? Did he want Ankur on standby for Sandy. An alert. Sandy always says her favourite 'I'll manage by myself' and Ankur knows that. Suraj knows that. We know that. Difference is, Suraj wants her to be protected and looked after.
Something New: Sandy's new life. It hasn't started yet. That first arrival as a bride was just ritual and tradition. The second time, it will be real. She will return to be his wife. When that happens, being bahu will be a firm second priority. Sandy has the advantage of coming back to a house where she knows exactly what to expect. She has survived. Survivor will return. Bhabasa said Suraj will regret this big time and maybe that regret will linger for a while. Bhabo said she will tolerate her bahu as all MILs do. That's true, she will have to. No one is expecting her to be best friends with Sandy. The rest of the Rathis are an indifferent bunch, but will present various knotty problems for Sandy to solve in the future.
I was watching a funeral. The funeral of the old Sandy. The funeral of SV2. It's necessary. Without these dying a death, we won't see a new beginning.
Something Borrowed: Sandy's friends and well wishers. Preeti is the one she mentioned. Preeti is the one Suraj mentioned. That's where they are aiming to go, to Preeti. But here, Chotu and Chaturi, Sandy's newest, most loyal friends begged and pleaded. They understand the SurYa bond better than Sandy and SV2 do. They have cheered and encouraged a one-sided love for months. They have hope that Sandy will succumb one day. Today they shouted at Suraj, reminding him how much he loves her. Even Bhabo, in a desperate attempt to stop the ghar ki izzat spilling into the street, said that Suraj loves Sandy. They were all talking about the real Suraj, but they were talking to SV2.
Something Blue: Signifying faithfulness, purity,loyalty. Love,modesty and fidelity. We have seen glimpses of these in SurYa. We've seen it in them as individuals. What will we see when they are a couple.
