GEC Ratings: Star Plus, Sony gain in GRPs

Star Plus continues to lead the GECs with 293 rating points in Week 3 '12

Star Plus gained six GRPs to continue its stay at the top of Hindi GECs according to TAM ratings released for Week 3, 2012. The channel registered 293 GRPs. Sony also gained 11 GRPs to register 237 GRPs. Colors lost eight GRPs but held onto its third position as it ended the week with 200 GRPs.

Zee consolidated its fourth place with a five point gain and ended the week at 185 GRPs.

Fifth placed, Sab gained a point to end with 131 GRPs. The newly re-branded Life OK, dropped 13 points to end at 87 GRPs. At seventh place was Sahara One (42 GRPs) followed by Star Utsav (39 GRPs), DD1 (15 GRPs) and Zee Smile (7 GRPs).

Show stoppers of Month

The Month have had shows roaring place to place. Some have stepped up the ladder while few have slipped. Many shows have seen a gradual rise where as others have just been knocked out of sight. Let's take a look at the shows which have hit the jackpot and the ones which have down slided, from 26th December 2011 – 22nd January 2012.

STAR PLUS

The Sandhya–Suraj Saga in Diya Aur Baati Hum is working its charms on the viewers and have garnered the no 1 place with the AVG TRP of 5.58. The show which has made it to the second position is Saath Nibhana Saathiya with an AVG TRP of 5.66.

The shows which failed to impress the viewers and are in the bottom 2 place are Navya followed by the new show Ruk Jaana Nahi.

GEC Ratings: Colors closes in on Sony

According to TAM, Star Plus continued its domination of the GEC GRPs, with 306 in week 4, up from 293 in the previous week.

Colors registered the strongest gain, from 200 GRPs to 230, but still remained a little behind Sony which stayed at 237 GRPs.

Meanwhile Zee slid from 185 GRPs in Week 3 to 172 in week 4.

As for the other channels, Sab was at 132 (131 previous week), Imagine at 61 (65 previous week), Life OK at 85 (87 previous week) and Sahara at 45 (42 previous week).

It is celebration time for Ye Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya as the shows have reached the #1 position again.

Colors saw its first episode of its new show on wrestling, Ring Ka King, which made a decent opening of 2.2 TRPs.

Star Plus still maintains its #1 position with 306 GRP. The channel saw a great rise this week as compared to last week which was a 293 GRP. Sony TV follows the channel with 237 GRP followed by Colors with 231 GRP.

Rangmunch.TV is back with the TRP Rating for the week 23rd to 29th January 2012. Lets see what the weekly report card suggests about our favourite shows on Television.

HITS of the Week!

Saath Nibhana Saathiya on Star Plus has garnered the highest TRP rating of 5.34 and manages to get its first spot back. The makers have to tighten the plot to rule the TRP chart once again.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus has climbed up to 2nd position for the first time with a TRP rating of 5.31. The newest member is certainly a lucky mascot for the show and it's TRP.

Diya aur Baati Hum slips down to the third position with a TRP rating of 5.18. All the twists in the tale are definitely engaging the audiences.

CID
at 4th place with a TRP rating of 4.37. The CID officers never fail to deliver exciting episodes.

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon keeps its secure place at 5th position with a TRP rating of 4.30 this week. The New Arnav is surely creating the magic.

Crime Patrol of Sony Entertainment Television is back on the TRP chart this week with a rise in rating of 4.20. Looks like more and more audiences are being hooked to this show based on true stories of crime.

Pratigya of Star Plus has also moved up to 7th position, with a TRP rating of 3.92.The new twist seems to be working for the makers.

Balika Vadhu is now at the bottom half with a TRP rating of 3.62.

Sony's Bade Acche Lagte Hai, is on 9th position with a TRP rating of 3.41.The makers need to show some substance in the story now.

Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai is on the last position with 3.38 TRP rating.

Misses of the week

The shows which were not able to make it to the top 10 shows are Navya with a TRP rating of 3.01.Parvarrish Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi had a tie with Zee Tv's Hitler Didi with common TRP rating of 2.36
