@Missy: That was brilliantly said πŸ‘ πŸ‘ Really the promos, they are superbly made, the voice over gives such subtle hints and we are all thinking thousand scenarios what will happen which means the promo had the desire effect. The other points mentioned even technical points are real eye openers. Thank you so much for this lovely post. πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ˜ƒ

@ Sona, Divineself, India05 and yes you Aarti - man you read all of it? wow,
that was commendable indeed πŸ˜› I think i got a little carried away though,
and honestly feel like a bum for reiterating many aspects spoken about in
the 22 [correction] pages. I'm finally down to reading the last few..

And yes my life's back on track with my new laptop.. gonna guard it with my
life.. πŸ˜† how else will i be part of this fun forum πŸ˜‰ I really felt left out
for the last three weeks. So good to be back

@missy - hello!fantastic...i see now why aarti was pondering whether to go ahead with the post or not!i differ here btw while everyone here may have commented on the most obvious, colours, contrast, comedy etc etc what u have brought to the post is by far a whole new area in itself...how many of us realised or could bring to everyones knowledge things like angles, underlays, experimentation with location and more??i took my time reading each and every bit of ur post in order to fully understand how these guys go bout achieving such genius!it was highly informational, educational and beyond interesting! thank you missy for so clearly succinctly and simply driving home why exactly this show works!

@aarti - may i take the cheek to make the suggestion of placing missy's input onto the main page of this post?(if thts ok with her tht is)i believe it will garner further interest in addition to yours n it would be a shame for ppl to not realise the directorial depth and technical expertise of the show only because they could not be bothered to riffle through the 23 pages required to get to her brilliant take!no offense meant in any way!just a suggestion!

take melodrama and shove it down the audiences mouth, conditioning
their otherwise sensible mind to believe utter crap. Among all the snazzy
outfits, over done faces, ludicrous convoluted plots and hard to fathom
characters, i sit back and review DMG and think it's so easy being Simple.
It's less taxing on the director, AD's, promo producers, costume and set
designers, make up artists and lighting assistants even among the scores
of others involved in the making. Simplicity in thought is what i mean.

No NEGATIVITY - DMG's delightful factor is the lack of NEGATIVITY. Positivity is so important for today's negative world. Through most situations projected, there's a quick reasoning and a quick solution. Nothing drags forever in the DMG world. Yes there is competition and rivalry, but it's all in good spirit. At the end of almost each episode we have reasons to smile. There are sublime messages in many episodes - recycling, caring about the environment, no smoking near plants, don't over eat and don't become anorexic either, avoid coloring your hair while your still in your teens, don't buckle under peer pressure, don't be a fashion victim, stuff like this is so necessary for the youth of today. And what's the best part is that the creatives are not being preachy about it. They're characters, script and behavior mannerisms pass on the message.

Realistic Characters - I can't say the characters are perfect, they're like
any one of us. We're not all devils but we're not complete angels either,
unlike in every other soap where there's one perpetual saviour and
one/many devious minds.

Love relived - Sure it's hard to portray a love story because love stories
have honestly had an overkill. But to take different aspects of different
love stories, amalgamate them into one, make them your own and have the characters portray it the way you want them to, now that's what i call directional brilliance..

Underlays - It's very important to have a music bed, while sometimes the
absence of one can make a spectacular scene. Both have been tried and
tested in DMG and they get full points. Films have taken the risk, and rely
on audio alone, while tele serials rely mostly on sound to depict a
powerful scene. Silence played its part beautifully in the chosen scenes
for DMG. While underlays for AR- in love, AR- at war, AR- playful, Atul-
Anji, Lovely- Atul, Sapna- Shub, Keerti- Interns, Padma -Shanks, Nani-
Anji, Nana- Armaan, Raul- Armaan, Raul- Muskaan, Muskaan- Armaan..
.there's plenty more i havent penned.. are perfect, thus each relationship
distinct, with each music bed distinct. The appropriacy of the songs Ishq
leta - when AR's love is in turmoil and Asmani when it's blooming is also
commendable.

Angles = Many a time we look at the tv and the frame looks tilted. It's
brilliance on the DOP's part to make frames look different, high lighting
different characters and props and keeping clutter out of the frame.
There's been a high degree of experimentation with wide angle camera's
especially in closed room's and the result add's to the comic element in
the show.. Wow is all i can say, because they keep the CU's simple and
the Two shots complex.

yeah, to all the guys who make DMG happen, the chai vala's who keep the editors awake thru the night, the lighting assistants who touch barn
doors of hot as hell lights to get the shot light right, the DOP's on hand
held cam's with that heavy armory on them, the script writers who cant
afford to be mundane, the promo prods whose creativity is the main
reason more people are watching this show, the director who has a huge task of being different and making a difference, and last but not the least the actors who keep this awesome show alive.. THANK YOU

Missy, that was BRILLIANTLY put!!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ So glad to finally have your input on this wonderful post!! Especially LOVED the parts that I've highlighted, and the insight you've provided on the technical aspects especially is wonderful as well!! And I especially loved the last paragraph you wrote, cuz it acknowledges every single person from the chai walas and lighting people to the actors who bring alive this wonderful show for us...makes one realize all the hard work that truly goes into making a show....Kudos to all of them, truly!!

@ Sara and Anu.. sorry its a joint reply.. but thanks so much for the
appreciation.. I'm glad my little knowledge could be of some help.. I only
wanted to shed some light on some of the real heroes behind the scenes.
We only appreciate the one's we see. But it's the one's who are behind
scenes who really deserve a hell of a lot more credit than they get..
Everyones always talking about how awesome the scene and the shot was
taken but honestly very rarely do you get a scene right in one take. You
cannot imagine the number of tapes the editors have to go through
sometimes. Poor chaps.. have to see all of them to get the perfect shot,
and they have to go through several changes before the final product is
out for mastering. They're not perfect because i've spotted umpteen
goofs.. But they're still among the unappreciated list..

I guess I'm making my peace now with all the editors involved because i
forgot them in my never ending rant.. Hope you don't mind.. 😊
