I wrote a long response - large chunks of which was about the two kinds of love in this show, and then, when that did not appear, a short one, but both have been swallowed up and I can't find them. I have had enough.

If you do a post, I expect 90% to be about RoHa, for these days you write about nothing else, and then you have the nursing scene to drool over! Never mind, padnewale khush ho jayenge! But you are shortchanging yourself as an analyst.

Aunty, I wanted to post last night but I-F was under maintenance so I couldn't! When it was all done I went to bed already. Where the hell are the emojis!!?? :O

I kinda liking this new setup. Of course it will take time for all of us to get used. I hope the problems we face on phone won't be in this new one. But where are the emojis?? :'((

I so wanted to post after watching the last night's episode. Had so much to talk lekin yeh I-F! :@

Arnav-Khushi jodi has no comparison at all. Not only RoHa par duniya ki koi bhi jodi I repeat duniya ki koi bhi jodi stands nowhere near their chemistry. They are legendary in every aspect. Star Plus understands that too, cashing their chemistry and the show's popularity even now. IPK reruns hotey rehte hai.

Lekin ArShi are typical Mills & Boons while RoHa have their own type, own style. That is exactly why we Gul Khan veterans (;-)) keep reiterating how different this show is from all her past shows. Esp. Rocky, aisa male lead Gul ke shows mein hote hi nahi hai.

I was wondering should I make a separate post for the last episode or not? I have so many things to discuss! :/

Wonders never cease! My long post has suddenly been put up. I am not sure you will like it, but do take a look at it.

Here is the edited version.

Shyamala Aunty

My dear Mihrimah,

The first para of my post, which has been swallowed up.twiceby the software, was about.how I stumbled across a scene in the retelecast ofIPKKND on Star Plus where Khushi was emphatically declaring to Arnav that shedidn't consider him her husband. They were pure magic together. You may likeRoHa for being different, but I would junk them any day for Arnav-Khushi.

As for your doing an episode analysis for last night, Iwould like it provided you have a sense of balance and do something besidesdrooling over your RoHa. At times you make me feel downright queasy, the wayyou all carry on!

To my mind, the most telling and powerful passage I haveseen here after episode 50 is RV's long monologue, delivered to a blank-facedHappy, but his feelings for her. Especially "Main tumse jud gaya hoon,Happy".

I could, if I put my mind to it, do a comparison of the twokinds of love in this show.

Rocky's seeks to regain the trust that Happy had in him, andwhich he has lost, and he wants to.come first in her life. Plus hewants Happy to coddle him like a little boy. He seeks a love that would bepart romantic and part maternal. He needs her, with the vehemenceand the vulnerability of a child. So, when he is lying with his head inHappy's lap, he is like a half frozen kitten which, after wandering out in thecold all night, has unexpectedly found a fire, and is now luxuriating inits blessed warmth.

RV's is the love if a man who has been blindsided by.theunexpected strength of his feelings for this girl. He has always stood by her,but now he wants to protect her, shield her from the slightest hurt, and he isready to do anything to ensure that, no matter whether she wants him to or not. Above all, he wants her to need him .This is another kind of vulnerability.

I was greatlyinterested to see the pains the CVs took last night to explore RV's psyche.

But I doubt if anyone here has the taste for suchcomplexities. It is much easier to have simplistic, black and white perceptionsabout dangerous predators and reformed white sheep, and to exult aboutRoHa rubbing noses together like members of an African tribe. So I shan't wastemy time.

But five years.ago, I would have written 4 pages about lastnight's episode, and got 65 Likes and 15 plus pages of comments. Those were the days ! The IF is now only a very pale shadow of its old self, and the membershipis to match, which leaves no room.for nuances of perception and varied presentations

Don't worry, child. You can have no idea of the trouble I had getting the long post out. Nothing works: editing, posting, both of which left me fuming when faced with a large red 400 or 500 sign about server problems. But I hung in there, like Robert Bruce, and finally I got it through.

I don't know how you liked it. But what I want to make sure of is you were not upset by my caustic comments about RoHa,and then that you will focus on solid analysis. I KNOW you can do much better that RoHa shipping, and I want you to do it.

Affectionately,

Shyamala Aunty

No Aunty, I didn't mind anything. I know you wish well only. :)) In fact my last post was a pure analysis of the episode. Not only about RoHa.

IF is not letting a long post published!!! :O Thank God to have saved my post on tonight's episode. Still trying but not posting. :'((

Good!

I am glad that you have saved at least tonight's analysis on MS Word. Not the earlier one? A great pity. I always used to do that with all my long posts. But the problem here is that the text does not get posted, and the server problems message keeps popping up.

There seems to be no way of tackling this snag but to keep trying. That is what I did, and suddenly, unexpectedly, it worked.Keep trying for the text you have saved.

In a few days, all these teething troubles will be ironed out.

Thanks a lot, my dear Tanvi. It is reassuring that there is still a readership for my kind of purely analytical writing. I was beginning to have serious doubts about that!!Shyamala Aunty

@Shyamala Aunty. I am usually a great fan of your writing and love reading your posts and analysis. However, this time, though you’ve replied to @mhrimah but I would like to understand a few points from you.

1. Agreed, that there’s a stark difference in two kinds of love shown in the show and probably that calls for the most interesting conflict. Rocky has the vulnerability of a child and he is lost without Happy. For centuries, we’ve specifically segregated our society with distinct gender roles. A woman seeks comfort and protection and a man provides that. Evolutionary psychologists would call it meat in exchange for sexual favours and companionship which has transformed into modern day Man loves a woman and the concept of Hunter gatherer reinforced. Who said which one is better? Who said it cannot be different? Why can’t a woman provide and a man seek? That’s the difference in both the forms of love! I don’t think one love is above the other? And I think that you do too!

2. Coming to rubbing noses like people from African tribe! Pardon my understanding, but I rub my nose with my husband’s often. Our courtship began like that and I still pull his cheeks. I mollycoddle him in the most childish ways possible not the other way round where I run to him seeking protection. I do not certainly belong to African tribes. Methinks, not!

3. Taste again is highly perceptive and subjective. What might be appealing to some might be repulsive for others. Dissing someone else’s taste is certainly uncalled for. Be it any member of a free democratic forum.

@Shyamala Aunty.

Contd. as IF has gone bonkers

4. I would agree to your post being analytical if and when you would have watched all the previous episodes to understand what each character has gone through and why they stand as they do today! Analysing something from the pivot point entry of a certain actor who is great at acting and has left an indelible impression from his previous shows is a little early, I would say that. If you don’t wish to watch and watch only RV bits, I respect that choice, your words and opinions. But, having said that you cannot judge the other two if you haven’t watched. If you have watched, then I apologise for my ignorance. Needless to say, I love your posts and have great respect for you, not only as an elder but as a woman who is strong and has a voice. Do get well soon! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I wrote a long reply to Aunty, IF ate it up. :@ I didn't save it so couldn't publish again. :(@bold exactly what I replied to Aunty. To add, Rocky is deprived of every form of love since 3 years. With high fever he was extremely vulnerable. In real, every man becomes a baby when sick. Personally, I haven't seen any man behaving all mature in their sick state in my family. My father goes bonkers even with mild cold, let's not even open the door of my brother's antics. LOL. That seeking comfort and coddling are very Rocky like, nothing out of his nature. In fact very normal man like.

About rubbing nose, I kept wondering what actually was in that scene that Aunty had to draw a reference from African Tribe?! To me it was utterly cute and pure. I may have failed to understand. Aunty can better explain it.
