The 'tu bin bataye' performance of Omkar and Akshita was interestingly a freestyle dance as per the snippet provided by the channel during the particular performance.šŸ˜•

There has been countless contemporary routines in DID including LM & Doubles and I think most of us can distinguish contemporary dancing visually. DID has been a serious dance show as far as the dancing style and its quality is concerned. This is for the second time a contemporary routine became freestyle. Surprisingly neither Marzi nor Rajeev pointed that out(may be they are aware about the kind of humiliation TL faced in the last season)

Both the routines were performed by the people who are not good at contemporary dancing. One was Dharmesh whose forte is Hiphop and Omkar-Akshita who are trained in Bharatnatyam. Is this a way to keep the level of criticism low for the contemporary performances by not so expert contemporary dancers ??šŸ˜•

What do you think?

Honestly, if they wanna keep low critism for none contemporary dancers, then they should make them do pedestrain contemporary which is really easy to do with my own experience. Pedestrian contemporary makes human-like gestures form into contemporary dance which is easy for a B-Boyer to do.
The full-out form of contemporary, [sorrry, I dont know the name of it.] has more leaps, pirouettes, fouettes, and a lot of floor work which requires a lot of strength.
The choreographers should stop doing freestyle and have the contestants do pedestrian contemporary instead of freestyle because freestyle is a whole different form of dance.

Sash dear I agree...They label anything under "Contemporary" and throw at janta who is not knowledgable abt most form of western dances..TL was an expert last season but he went thru some criticism and hard time pointing out stuff..Show does not want any criticism so they name anything as "Chalta hai daudta hai" Janta has no clue anyways....Grrrrrrrr

Yeah I was thinking the same thing why was it labeled as freestyle....

and about the Rajeev/Marzi not pointing it out part, they don't get a snippet saying its "Freestyle" while watching live šŸ˜† they add that the day before episode is due to be telecasted...so Rajiv-Marzi themselves found out that appartenly it was a Freestyle on the day of telecast. šŸ˜•šŸ˜›

Yeah, seems like they label a performance with splits, lifts, and back bends as contemporary. They should define the category a bit more, since there are various branches to contemporary. It's been about 3 years and UFF I still can't differentiate between 'Freestyle' and 'Contemporary' šŸ˜•

Sash I agree.. It was a fusion of classical and Contemporary we can say, so Freestyle would be the right name.. They did two contemporary steps in their dance, but the rest were mainly classical or semi-classical or Bollywood/Freestyle.. Semi-classical fusion would have been the right name...

I've noticed that only in Karan and Carlings' dances I can actually pick out moves and name them. I've been learning dance for almost 11 years now, and there are just some moves in contemporary that I cannot exactly name and I've been taking contemporary for 5 years now.
