Ganpati Bappa arrives in just a few days, and everyone is busy preparing to welcome their favourite God. Our STAR One actors too adore Lord Ganesha and love this festival, and are awaiting to welcome him with great pomp. What's the one story about Lord Ganesha that comes to your mind?
The birth story of Ganpati, when Goddess Parvati made a statue of a boy from the dirt from her body and gave it life. She told him not to allow anyone in her room, as she was bathing, but when Shivji came, little Ganesha stopped him. Shivji got angry and cut the boy's head off. Later, when Parvati told him she had asked the little boy to guard her door, Shivji was repentful. He got the head of an elephant, and brought the boy to life again. Thus, Ganeshji is also called Gajapati.

Which has been your best memory of the festival?
Two years ago, I was about to get married. I really enjoyed preparing for my marriage and the Ganesh festival then.

Best pandal you ever visited on Ganpati ?
I love the pandal near my colony in Malad, which is quite huge and has awesome decorations.

What is your most favourite part of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi?
Preparing delicious modak, making arrangements for the puja and aarti, and listening to Ganpati bhajans.

In the spirit of going green, do you think the festival should be celebrated in a environment-friendly manner? What suggestions would you give people in this respect?
I want to tell everyone to think of the environment before taking any step. Do not litter during visarjan.

What are your plans for the festival this year?
I will be busy with at my home, as we bring Ganpati for one and half days.

Okdiche modak made from rice paste. Inside, there is a mixture of coconut, jaggery (gudh), and ghee.
