I actually do agree with the premise, that she shouldn't have given it to Saroj. But my reasoning has more to do with the sheer idea of the it, than her betraying Mohan.
If I were her, I would just say, no need I can keep it safe myself. If she had the individuality to speak up and go against that advice given by Baa, it would've been great.
But ehh, it happened. They did it to pave the way for this track. I do hope that the CVs know this. We've already mentioned so many times how gullibility is part of her character. But there's also how much she relies on advice from the women in her family. While she does think for herself, she also puts a LOT of weight on what the others tell her, especially Baa and Shradha. I think she just may transfer that over to Saroj, but Saroj doesn't really tell her anything. But she would put that stock in Saroj's words.
And while that's all well and good, she's an individual, too. I hope that's part of her character growth. Just because an elder, your own loving family elders advise you about something, doesn't mean that's the path that you should take.
ETA: Kastur telling Shradha to tell Baa about the situation would be worse, imo. She already told her mother because she couldn't possibly have lied to her or gotten out of that situation. But bringing another one into that knowledge...yeah not a good idea. It will surely spread after that.
