Rani, it's kind of amazing how much has changed in just a few years. Is it all okay now? Hell, no. But there's more openness and acknowledgement than there was just five or six years ago.

I prefer not to talk much on this subject particularly on an open forum like this because not everyone has our views; not that there is anything wrong in discussing it. It's just that each one of us is at some level in our understanding on the spectrum. You have younger cousins from India who have progressive views on the matter...but, on the same token, I absolutely don't...That's not to say views are not changing, but it's slow in its ability to affect mainstream thinking.

Andrew Sullivan is a revelation, albeit a controversial one...

Ahh, Anj that's where you misunderstood. I know you don't want to discuss, but I didn't want to not make this point.

Being taken in by these asethetics does not mean they are progressive about homosexuality in general. My point about my cousins. The same girl who found some stuff attractive, she was disgusted and sick whenever SRK would do stuff on stage that was more of a joking and flirting with another guy.

For instance, at the IPL benefit where he and the cricketer did a bit with Yuvraj Singh and the belly chains.

I pointed out the irony to her, that many of the Bollywood guys' looks she's so attracted to and what that used to be confined to.

As for Andrew Sullivan, I just used him as an example. Others have made the same point, and as you said there's plenty of writings out there about the topic. I just brought him up because I mentioned Jersey Shore and he made that joke related to Jersey Shore.

But yeah, I know others don't have the same viewpoint. I won't go more into it. But I will point out the irony that many of them--like my cousin--drool over certain those aesthetics while having bigoted and prejudiced views. And I won't apologise for that, either.

On another note--one lesser known actor who almost everyone's sure is gay--is so far off from this certain look. 😆

Word. That's one good thing. This news hits us, but we know we're going to get MohUr. There's no way they could not give us MohUr. 😆

No, no, Lik...absolutely no apologies...& SRK is a perfect example for illustrating the irony...I've found obvious & not so obvious examples in virtually every movie he's been in...Don being the most recent & perfect illustration. I love that as an actor $ a thinker he is fully aware of it & makes no amends for it... 😉

Kamini Aunty 🤣

Lik, watch it if you want .. Not trying to convert you 😆 Btw here you won't get any THISH THISH sounds 😛

Bidz, I had seen that scene already. Someone had linked to it in the EDT during the whole Prem/Onu convo.

I would've been amused if it were a sexy Aunty. Why would she even be jealous? I would be like, whatever you want to go for that... pshhh!!!

SRK knows exactly how to manage it and balance it. That's all I have to say. I find him sexy and attractive. Unlike others... :zips mouth: That's the key, knowing how to work it. Most of the ones after him go the crazy steroid gym-rat look route, combined with a lot of the other stuff/aesthetics...

Even the ones who didn't start out like that, Bollywood sucks them into this vortex of conformity, and a lot of them are just the same old version of the other.

This goes for many of the actresses, too. There's a reason why Vidya has an appeal, because she stopped trying to conform. She tried it, but when it didn't work, she went back to being herself.

Oh you notice that about Vidya too 😆

I don't know what the hell she was thinking after Parineeta or was it LRMB when she lost her mind with her foolishness. Well good sense prevail and she's find her way back and her career is going well.
