Television's teen-icon Rajat Tokas has been there, done that.

Having been part of Prithviraj Chauhan, and thereby gained quite a bit of popularity, he's now like a pro when it comes to playing Veer in NDTV Imagine's DharamVeer. But this self-assured teenager wants to clarify that, "This serial isn't mythological. Any thing that has costumes, and kings and battles is falsely assumed to be so," says Rajat.

Point taken. So how does he see himself in this new serial? Rajat sounds very confident when he says, "I am a director's actor. I can get into any role, wear many shoes, I can be moulded as per a director's wish. That is my strength." And he dismisses the fact that while he played the lead in Prithviraj Chauhan, he's the second lead here. "Both the characters are central to plot. I am not playing the second fiddle at all," says Rajat.

How does it feel to be a teen icon, which Rajat has become? "I think icons should be those who do something real, outside the purview of their work. I mean, for instance, people who do something good to help others. Those are the real icons," says Rajat.

He confides that he tries to help whenever he can. "My parents asked me to sponsor the education of some kids back in Delhi and I agreed. One must stock up on good karma," says Rajat half-jokingly. How does he manage his studies? "I try, only the results will tell whether I have been successful or not," comes the humourous answer.

And he signs off by saying that the real Rajat is "a guy who loves doing masti, fooling around and is careless in a nice sort of a way!"
