Devon Ka Dev Mahadev Written Update For 3 July 2012

Bhakti Is The Path

Naradji tells Nandi , it is not so easy for Shivji & Parvti to meet, there is difference of births. You are the only one in this entire world who can inspire mata Parvati to go on path of Bhakti, because Bhakti is in all the cells of your body. Nandi agrees.

Parvati sees Nandi in disguise, playing flute & singning a bhajan of love. Parvati asks him what is singing. He tells her he is singing about love in honour of his God. Parvati asks him how is love & devotion connected? Nandi says he worships his God with love. When the lover is worshipped like God, he gets pulled by the force of love through devotion. He has to come

Parvati asks him will she achieve what she wanst by fallowing this path? Nandi assures her, she will.

Parvati thinks Devarshi Narad too had showed her this path, but she was not able to understand. She will follow this path. She thanks Nandi.

She happily walks ahead. Meets Naradji who is waiting for her asks her the reason for her happiness. She says she has understood through devotion she can get Shivji. Naradji tells her to remove !6 impurities of Human body she will have to keep fast of 16 Mondays, because Monday is Shivji's favourite. In future this vrat will be known as 16 Mondays vrat, will be kept by women for their husbands & to get a good husband too.

In Smashan Shivji says It is not possible to achieve Shiv against his wish. Nandi asks him, she wants to worship him, how can he stop his devotee? Shivji says even God is helpless . I can not bless Parvati to worship me.

Himavan is asking Jaya & vijaya have they seen Parvati? Who comes, tells Himavan, she has found the way to get Shivji through her devotion.

In the morning, Parvati is offering water to Sun, chanting Om Surya Devaya Namaha.

Himavan, Mena & Parvati comes for Shiv-puja, with elaborate preparation & a big Gold Shivling is kept ready for worship. Mena tells Parvati, she has herself made this arrangement. Parvti says Shivji likes Vairagya. He may not want all these using Gold & silver. She will herself prepare for the pooja.

Naradji appears says what is not offered to other Gods is used in Shiv-puja. Belpatra, Dhatura flowers, raw milk is Shivji's favourite. Naradji tells her to get some sand too to make Parthiv Shivling for worship. Parvati with Jaya , Vijaya collect Belpatra, flowers, sand. Paravti says they have collected enough required for the puja.

Shivji, who is meditating, opens his eyes, looks angry. Nandi is watching his anger.

Naradji asks Parvati to ask for Shivji's blessing for success in puja. She prays to Shivji for the same.

She is making the Shivling of sand, there is strong wind blowing suddenly. Parvati is not able to complete it due to strong wind blowing away the sand. Shivji looks determined to stop her puja. Parvati seems shocked including Mena & Naradji.

Vishnuji is watching this. Lakshmiji says may be now it is time for his interfearance.

Mena says, Shivling breaking before commencing the puja is a bad omen.

Precap: Parvati is tying a thread on wrist of Vishnuji in disguise. He says it is duty of a brother to help his sister. Looks like you are not able to make this Shivling. He makes the Shivling. Shivji says what have you done Narayan, I can not break the Shivling made by you, now nobody can stop you, Pravati.

I'll avoid being critical of the CVs as about the pre-cap, but something's not adding up here. If Veerbhadra could trounce Vishnu in battle (even though they didn't show it that way in this serial), how is it logical that Mahdev is unable to destroy a Shiva Linga that Narayan has built, although he can easily do so w/ Parvati's creation? Mahadev should be unable to destroy any Shiva-Linga, since it's a representation of himself, not just one made by Narayan. (This is different from the Vaishnav equivalents in the Tulabharam incident, as well as the Rama-Hanuman battle, where the names of Rama & Krishna were so divine that Rama & Krishna themselves couldn't defeat nor outweigh them. Here, what is under discussion is not Shiva's name, but his representation.) Or at least, something made by Parvati should be as immune to Shiva's attempts to destroy it, given the other incidents of Parvati 'defeating' Shiva.

Tying a thread around Vishnu's wrist and calling him a brother - I hope they're not trying to claim that rakhi has religious origins, when it doesn't. The only case of religious threads being tied around the wrist that I can recall is in the Tarakeshwar temple in Bengal, which devotees wear, but that has nothing to do w/ any brotherly relationship. Aside from that, no comments on whether the CVs are trying to make Parvati symbolically Vishnu's sister.

For south indians, they are brother and sister. I have grown up regarding them as such. (without the rakhi business, of course)

See the "aww" thread in which Vaishnavi gives the story from the Madurai Meenakshi temple...

During the Meenakshi Thirukalyanam, Vishnu as Meenakshi's (Shakti's) brother gives away the bride to Sundareshwar (Shiva) and Brahma performs the rituals. It is one the most amazing of S Indian temple festivals.

LOVED today's episode and cannot wait to watch Vishnu coming to Parvati's aid. Too too too cute for words!

I am growing more and more fond of Vishnu in this show! The actor playing him is superb!
