Lord Krishna had told Arjuna that the body is mortal but the soul is immortal. The ultimate aim of a soul is to attain Moksha or salvation. To attain salvation, the soul has to do the bhakti of God with true love and devotion towards him. This is what is shown here.
Daksh Prajapati was a devotee of Lord Vishnu but had more ego than his devotion.Due to his ego,he could never bow down before Lord Shiva.Due to his ego,he wasn't ready to accept the truth that Shiv is Devon ke dev Mahadev.Due to his pride and ego,he even forgot that his beloved daughter,Sati is the avatar of Mata Adishakti and insulted her, punished her, gave her lot of pain. When Sati chose Mahadev as her husband, again due to his pride,he did not accept Mahadev as his son in law and insulted him and Adishakti roopi Sati. But still,Shiva was dayalu. He cut off the head which was full of pride and threw it in the yagya and burnt it.With the burning of his head, his pride too burnt forever.Lord gave him a goat head so that he can never become proud, arrogant again.Daksh too, that's why, left his palace and started staying in a hut and spent his remaining life chanting Shiva's name.
Maina and Himavan are neither proud nor arrogant regarding their wealth or position. The problem with them is their ignorance. They are purely materialistic people who still have not understood that their aim is to attain God.They are so happy in their sansarik sukh or materialistic pleasures that they are not able to understand the fact that these pleasures, this happiness is temporary. The real happiness lies in finding God and devoting your whole life in God's bhakti. Even when Adishakti took birth as Parvati, still they treat her like a human rather than God.Neither do they want to surrender themselves to God nor do they want their daughter to surrender herself to God.
We too are either like Daksh,Maina and Himavan.Either due to our pride,we don't surrender ourselves to God or due to materialistic pleasures and ignorance,we don't do it.
